Overall I like the product the only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is it’s missing a couple of features I would like for instance the ability to add an external hard drive

A great addition to an older TV or to replace an operating system you don't like. Google's UI is very intuitive and fast.

Good picture quality. A definite improvement over the Google TV Chromecast it replaced. It's surprisingly laggy. Which is asinine given that it has more memory & a faster processor than the older Google Chromecast TV. Consider an alternative if you have one available?

Thanks for reaching out about your Google TV Streamer (4K), Daniel. Normally a quick reboot will solve several issues — here’s how:

      1. Unplug the power cable from the streaming device.
      2. Leave it unplugged for one minute.
      3. Insert the cable back into the streaming device.

A lot of the apps don’t work. Not sure if that’s Google or the owner of the apps fault. Interface is definitely faster with more memory. Apple 4K is a more solid streamer, has less issues as of right now.

We appreciate the feedback, Josh. It's great to hear that you're happy with the snappy interface, but we understand the frustration when apps crash. There could be a few things affecting them, but here's something to remedy the issue:

      Check for app updates
On your TV, search for Google Play Store.
When Google Play opens, at the top right, go to the profile picture or initial.
Select Manage apps & games and then Updates and then Update all.

Better than pretty much any TV Streamer out there. Fast UI and great integration with google accounts. Plus since its android 3rd party apps can be installed. Fully recommend.

Set up and connectivity are easy. Without clear buttons, it does take time to learn the playback controls (pause, ff, rew. etc.).

Not a massive upgrade from the Google TV dongle, but enough to hopefully last us some years. The upgrade feels worth it for the optimism of longevity. I was also wanted to move on from a hanging plug-in device. Warning: does not include an HDMI cable to connect to the TV.

The Google TV 4K streamer is an excellent option for those looking for an affordable yet feature-rich streaming device. It stands out with its intelligent content recommendations, smooth Google Assistant integration, and overall ease of use. While it has minor performance hiccups, they don’t detract significantly from the experience. Whether you're deeply invested in the Google ecosystem or just need a solid, all-in-one streaming solution, the Google TV 4K offers great value for its price. Here's an more in depth look at this unit. The Google TV 4K streaming device is a solid offering in the streaming world, providing you with a seamless, content-rich experience at an affordable price. Design The device itself is sleek, compact, and minimalist. It’s a small dongle that plugs directly into the HDMI port of your TV, staying mostly out of sight. The remote is well-designed, comfortable, and intuitive with dedicated buttons for popular streaming services like YouTube and Netflix. There’s also a dedicated Google Assistant button, making it easy to navigate through voice commands. Setup Setting up the Google TV 4K is quick and straightforward. After plugging it into the TV, connecting to Wi-Fi, and signing into your Google account, the interface guides you through app downloads and content preferences. The Google TV interface is user-friendly, presenting a unified layout that pulls content from all your streaming services, such as Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu, Disney+, and more, into a single feed. And sgining in to all my apps was easy, Mosty done with my cell phone. Performance In terms of performance, the Google TV streamer supports 4K resolution with HDR10 and Dolby Vision, delivering impressive picture quality. The colors are vibrant, and the sharpness of 4K content is stunning. Additionally, it supports Dolby Atmos for immersive audio, which is a great touch for anyone using a surround sound system like my self. Interface The Google TV interface is one of its standout features. It smartly integrates recommendations from all your streaming apps, including live TV if you use services like YouTube TV. The interface is clean and organized, and it learns from your viewing habits to recommend shows and movies, which makes finding content easier. The search functionality is powerful, especially when using Google Assistant voice commands. Google Ecosystem Integration One of the major benefits of this streamer is its deep integration with the Google ecosystem. It works seamlessly with Google Assistant, allowing users to control not just the TV but other smart home devices, like lights and thermostats, with voice commands. If you're already using Google services or other Google smart devices, the synergy is excellent. App Support Google TV 4K Streamer has extensive support for a wide array of streaming apps. Virtually every major service is available, from Netflix and Disney+ to more niche options. The app store covers all the bases, so you won’t miss out on content. You can even sideload apps if you’re more tech-savvy. In a nut shell this is now my go unit for adding streaming services to my TV's

Great device! Love the integration with Google Home and ability to see cameras on the TV. A bit slow and laggy at times and sometimes when watching some shows there is some flickering, hopefully it is fixed with a patch. Overall, really happy with the device

Hey there, JohnB. We’re sorry your experience with the Google TV Streamer (4K) hasn’t been the best. Here’s a few troubleshooting steps to get your audio back on track:

      1. Check if you have a compatible HDMI cable.
      2. Reboot the Google TV Streamer.
      3. Check whether your TV, AVR, or soundbar has an audio offset adjustment setting
      4. Check if the “Dialogue enhancement” and “Volume leveler” settings are disabled. If it’s enabled, turn it off.
      5. Check if the surround sound setting is disabled. If it’s enabled, turn it off.

Reach out to us if the issue persists. We’re just a click away:: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp?sjid=1168929876280557452-NC&visit_id=638674861917928406-808865731&rd=1 madebygoogle

Ok I love this, but we ended up buying Roku sticks for additional TVs after buying this, and it does basically the exact same thing but for a fraction of the cost. Check that out first.

To the design team of this product: find another profession, preferably one where you work with fingerpaints or something. This is what happens when toxic positivity is allowed to run amuck in organizations. No one stopped and said, "Hey, this may not be ready to release yet." This is, without a doubt, the biggest joke of a product I've seen from Google, and I'm a Pixel user. If all you want is to watch Netflix, Prime, Disney, etc., there are cheaper options out there that work just as well/better. If you want to do something other than that, then you'd better light some candles, do a dance, and hit the liquor store because you're going to need it. Hope you like ads, because you're going to see a lot of them. Want it to work with Google Home? Well it sorta does, but not really. Think it will work out of the box? Think again. If you don't have someone IT savvy around, you will want to throw this thing through the window. If you're a Plex user, run fast, run far and then keep running--all the way to the grocery store, and purchase a potato because it will work just as well as this thing. I'm seriously considering not returning this item and burying it in my backyard just to spare at least one unfortunate soul from having to deal with this steaming pile of streamer.
