I will never recommend Best Buy for anyone ever ag
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nothing wrong with the product it’s Best Buy that is horrible. I ordered this product online for delivery to my address. They shipped it to another address in another county and I have yet to get a refund for the product.

Space storage and remote awful
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Completely overpriced. Terrible customer service support. I wouldn’t recommend this product to anyone because the remote is just too tiny to use. It’s ok but the storage capacity is terrible it should be at least 64 or 128 GB of storage space not 32 GB. For the amount of money google id asking for it lacks both storage space and the remote control is so small the remote control needs to made bigger especially if you have big hands.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing is pure trash and I'm pretty sure it's compromised as well considering there's someone else's continue watching and there's no way to delete continue watching even though they insist there is, they say it can do things that there's no way it can do and doesn't is false advertisement and janky, don't waste your time and energy much less your money. get an Amazon fire stick instead or just a good Smart TV, you don't need this

Offers nothing beyond Smart TV
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. No better than built in smart tv functions, and I have a 5 year old Samsung. Searches do nothing other than refer you to YouTube videos, recently watched works occasionally, recommendations are only made for Google services and Netflix, request to play music from a real Google assistant device to the Streamer launch some music streaming thing instead of Spotify or Pandora.

Improved Power & Usability
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nearly every TV is a smart TV today, but streaming devices become a necessity due to the lack of power of internal processors of the TVs. That is where Google has upped its game with their most recent 4K streamer in that it checks nearly all the boxes you could ask for. Coming from a Google Chromecast I will say I love the new form factor, especially with the remote. The streamer blends in nicely with nearly any media console though if you prefer to mount it to the back of your TV that is an option as well for it is just slim enough to fit. With the new form factor comes the ability to directly plug in an ethernet cable to ensure the fastest speeds possible which was a major plus for me. The other great feature they have added is that there is now a button on the back of the streamer you can hit that will ring the remote so that if you do have toddlers that like to run off with the remote it makes it so much easier to find! Another new facet here is the remote and the improved usability. The buttons are fairly similar, but the new layout makes things so much more convenient because the first thing I noticed are the dedicated volume buttons on the face of the remote as having them on the side with the previous remote was annoying at times. Additionally, the removal of the input button in favor of a shortcut button where this allows for three options is great. The first option of the shortcut button is to simply keep it as an input button. The next option is to have it open up a specific app. Then the last option is you can utilize it to open up the Google Home Panel so that you can quickly access your Google home devices. Aside from those two major things the remote is fairly unchanged as in my opinion there is nothing I would change so far after a weeks worth of use. Onto the actual performance of the device though. There is a slight bump in processing power here from the Chromecast (22% supposedly per Google) where the main difference I noticed wasn`t necessarily in the speed of accessing various apps, but was more so the fact that the device never lagged where sometimes the Chromecast would just sit there and spin for an extended period of time. Thus, the performance here is perfect as everything works very fluid and you`re not ever waiting on anything to really load. The device not only supports 4K HDR content, but it also supports Dolby Vision and Atmos so it literally checks all the viewing options for optimal viewing. The Google interface is the major sell here though with this device as the Google interface is by far superior to its competitors in my opinion. The streamlined nature of the interface and simplicity are key facets to that. The personalized recommendations using Google`s learning abilities and the ability to retain where I left off on shows right there on the home screen are both standout features that need mentioning. The ability of the google assistant to search for movies based on a general topic is always great as I`ve found so many good movies and shows simply by searching for a word or phrase of interest. A couple of features I have to mention that come with this being a Google device are first the ability to quickly stream audio to Nest speakers and pixel buds where as someone entrenched in the Google ecosystem this has been a great feature. With this also comes the ability to cast content from your phone, tablet, or laptop to the TV with ease. Then lastly is the ability to control my Google home devices within the streamer without having to find my phone so when someone is at the door or if I need to check on my kids in their rooms I can easily access those cameras. Along with accessing the cameras I also find myself controlling the lights and thermostat quite frequently with the streamer as well so it is definitely something I didn`t think I would use as much, but it has for sure added to that convenience factor. Overall, there is nothing Google left out with this streamer. From the improved aesthetics to the enhanced processor and greater usability of the remote, Google has taken the Chromecast and improved it in every facet. Pairing all this with the Google interface creates the absolutely perfect streamer and thus I would highly recommend this streamer, especially if you are already within the Google ecosystem in any capacity.

It has no HDMI passthrough
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was very excited to replace my aging NVidia Shield Pro with this new device. However, after hours of testing, wiring, rewiring, resetting, etc. I came to the conclusion that it doesn't want to work with certain surround sound formats. E.g. I would play a movie on the Fandango at Home app on my Shield with full Dolby Digital, turn everything off, unplug it and connect the Google TV Streamer to the same HDMI cable, turn everything on and when I start the same movie in the same app I get PCM on my AV receiver. I finally went online and found multiple posts, both on the Google support site and Reddit forums where people came to the same conclusion. Even the specs comparison on Google show the previous Chromecast device has "Dolby-encoded audio (HDMI passthrough)" but the streamer has "Dolby Atmos" which basically means it does not have HDMI passthrough. I am returning this ... can't go back to watching Interstellar and Dune in stereo!

Posted .Hi Rhynier, we're bummed the Google TV Streamer (4k) audio experience didn't meet your expectations. While it's true the device doesn't have HDMI passthrough, we still think it provides great all-around quality, but we know it won't work for everyone. Still, we truly appreciate you taking time to leave us feedback, and we hope you're still able to enjoy some of our other products!

Goggle Failure
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As with any new device, there are a few problems with the Goggle Streamer. It likes to lock up on start up and had lost wi-fi connection twice. I purchased this item two weeks ago and I am ready for a upgrade already. lol I would not recommend this item to someone who is not comfortable with rebooting and wi-fi connection issues. I love the menu and other items on the streamer. I would have thought Goggle would have done a better job before dumping it on the market for us to fix.

Posted .Hello JohnH! Sorry to hear about the hard time you've been having with your Google TV Streamer (4K). Here are some steps you can try to improve your Wi-Fi connection:
Check if the streamer is too far from your router or modem and see if other devices connect successfully.
Make sure you’re not using a Wi-Fi hotspot.
If you're on home Wi-Fi, try connecting directly to your router.

Faster, but audio sync issues make it useless.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The performance is a welcome improvement, but there is terrible audio lag that cant be resolved. The audio sync issue seems to grow over time, and gets worse the longer the device is powered on. Google is not being very responsive to reports of the issue, so i'm leaving a one star review to try and dissuade others from buying it until the problems are resolved, if they are ever resolved.

Makes a dumb TV smart, and travels well
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The new Google TV Streamer Turns any TV into a smart TV. This thing is pretty great. It’s easy to set up, easy to use, and so far, hasn’t so much as had a hiccup. I have an older TV in one area of my home that isn’t a smart TV…with this unit, it acts like one. First off, the design is great. Rather than being a dongle on the back of a TV, it’s a simple sleek oval shaped puck that sits discreetly on any entertainment center or desk. There is no annoying marketing plastered all of it. A single color with a smooth touch feel. The remote is small enough to feel modern without being so small that you think you’ll lose it. If you do lose it, never fear, there is a button on the puck that you can push to locate it. The remote will make noise until you find it. Connections are simple. You can connect a hard line network cable directly to your router, or connect via wireless if you don’t do the cable thing. The connection to your TV is a simple HDMI cable. The unit comes with the power cord and power brick. It’s long enough to be useful, so you should be good. Setup was super easy. When you turn the unit on, it will guide you through setup using the Google Home app on your smartphone. You can do it all manually, but it’s very simple if you use the app. It comes preloaded with major streaming apps. The best part about it being Google TV, is that you can access the app store and download any missing apps. Since it is connected to the app store, your apps stay up to date and you don’t have to worry about them becoming obsolete as quickly. You also get all kinds of live streaming TV channels if you like to watch old re-runs and such. You aren’t getting your major network and cable stations, but it’s till fun to watch the older stuff from time to time. I use Chrome as my primary web browser and password vault. For me, setting up the apps super easy. In some cases, it simply asked me if I wanted to use my credentials saved in Chrome…done. For others is was just a barcode that I could scan on my smartphone…done. Nothing was difficult. You can, of course, use the remote to type in your username and password in each app if you are “old school”, as if any of this is really old… Point is, it’s very simple to set up and operate. During the setup process, the remote can be configured to control your TV and Audio System. I followed the on screen instructions and was able to get my TV and Sound Bar connected to the Google remote in a matter of seconds. It’s not a full featured remote, so you can’t switch inputs or access settings menus on your other devices, but for power on/off and volume control it works great. The remote include a mic, so you can set up voice search. At one point, it will ask you if you want to allow Google to search across your apps when you ask it to find something. This is a fantastic feature. I’m always forgetting what app has the show I want. Now I can simply ask it to find “show xyz”, and it will find it across all of the apps I have loaded. Now more looking all over for a show. Finally, the portability aspect is a huge plus for me. When I travel, I can throw this in my bag and have all of my preferred streaming services available anywhere I can get an internet connection and an HDMI input. It’s fantastic for a hotel room, air b&b, etc. Just carry all the cable and remote and you are set. I have a little dop kit bag that I throw it all in to keep it organized.

What was missing from Chromecast for home setup
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Google home streamer is the perfect replacement for Chromecast and for any smart TV processor in my opinion. it provides the best of all worlds at a very affordable price for something that will last for years. Pros: - very minimalist look and solid build quality that will mesh seamlessly with any decor or setup. - You can hide it behind the TV with some velcro if you want. - Bigger storage and faster processor than original Chromecast and any smart TV! - Continuous, direct updates from Google who is very good about security patches. you don't have this level of support from smart TV vendors who will have outdated looks 2 years after a TV was purchased. - The ability to have all the apps you want, thanks to Android. so you are not stuck to the smart TV approved apps. - did I mention 32Gigs of storage? this wont run sluggish after a while. - Google assistant with all its Glory, voice commands controls, remote locator. - very nice remote. I preferred the one from chromecast but I understand they needed to stick more things in this one. - The ability to easily pair headsets for private listening is AMAZING. using Bluetooth you can pair any set of bluetooth headsets of any kind as long as it has bluetooth for private listening if you have someone who fell asleep on the couch (Ahem, my wife!). - and the most amazing feature that I have been waiting for is the ability to control Google Home from the TV. this is an amazing feature that is under rated, forget about controlling nest from your TV. how about controlling your security cameras from your own tv! the door bell rings, the camera feed shows up on your TV. in addition to being able to control you Google home connected devices like lights, etc. That was the most important feature that I liked. now I can take my google home hub upstairs to the office and its no longer needed in the living room. - Ethernet port for faster connection. Now the Cons: - no HDMI cable included in the box. - No audio passthrough. those are the only 2 issues I have and they are not deal breakers to be honest. In my opinion this is a worthy device that I will be using for years to come.
