What I needed

This restores full volume. However, the 3.5mm connection doesn't always seat perfectly, and sometimes adds static.

The best adapter

They were all returned because they flat out did not work. I guess when the phone makers switched to a USB-C port there were more problems than just the aggravation of having to get new attachments. This one works really nice and is very flexible. Meaning it doesn't ever feel like you have a jumper in between your phone and whatever you are using to listen to music with.
