My previous housing broke and I decided to buy the blackout housing. From the start I realized this material is thicker than the clear housing. So far works great and good look.

I really like this housing, It's matte black comes with black out sticker to cover the window so it's not noticeable when you're recording (cover the red flashes in recording mode).

Made my camera blend in with my HD much better. Less worried about it getting lifted if I walk away from it for a few minutes while on a ride.

First off this case is EXACTLY the same case that originally comes with the GoPro, but in black - a solid black casing. It does block out the blinking red "on" light and the flashing blue "wifi" so it is very low-pro. Is it worth $50? I don't think so, but I used some points and saved a few bucks so I splurged. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone thinking that it would increase the performance of your image capturing or videos because it is just a new case. It just looks tougher and much sleeker than the transparent case and a bit more professional. To anyone who is willing to dish out the cash for one... get it!

I think the material for this housing is different than the one supplied with your GoPro so I would not use this for action filming.

i use the blackout case to record performances on stage, the regular case attracts attention to the camera the blackout is hard to notice. perfect for stage use

Choosing a black housing keeps the sun out of the videos. The color means I do not have to worry about the sun coming into the videos
