Bought this to use when hunting with my fiancé - the quality unfortunately is not worth the price. Save your money and buy a Hero3 or 4.

The battery of my new "Hero" reacts very unheroic: Fully charged and camera shut off the battery drains to zero within ten hours! Tried to swap it at BestBuy store yesterday but was told BB is about to discontinue the Hero and it is sold out in all shops. Oh well.... what now?

great for kids. I like to see what i'm shooting so it wasn't for me. I returned it & paid more for the better one.

My daughter used it today for the first time snowboarding and it failed on her. Very disappointing.

Quality is junkie..Sound not good either..wouldn't buy a cheap gopro for sure.haha

All accessories are difficult to find since the release of the newer models.

I was hesitant to get the cheaper GoPro, just because I got it on release, so there were no reviews for the product yet. I AM NOT disappointed! Just as waterproof, just as tough, & the battery lasts for hours, much longer than advertised, at least in my experience. GoPro HD does pretty much everything it's older, more expensive counter parts do, & it does just as good a job. It also fits with all the accessories, & mounts, so don't worry about any of that. Of course you're missing some of the cooler features, like a touch screen, wifi, or replacement batteries, but if you want to GoPro, & don't want to break the bank, I HIGHLY recommend this camera!

I order this first generation go pro a couple months a go I haven't fully taken advantage of it. Since it brought me a lot of issues for the first test out. But I can say its the first gopro camera for a decent price for me. I was in a 1 or 2 hour fight trying to fix the issues I had with the camera that I couldn't fully download the capture footage to my MACBOOK AIR. That it need a upgrade program for it. Didn't manager to figure out the issue. therefore I had so much problem exporting the videos/photo footage. I did so much stuff that I believe it did something to the camera it began acting up such as freezing up, giving me error problems, couldn't read the memory card, Didn't wanted to move to another setting while clicking the buttons options, Didn't wanted to turn off the camera to completely reset the camera again. " ALL THIS ISSUES HAPPEN AT THE SAME POINT MOMENT AND TIME WHILE I WAS TRYING TO EXPORT FOOTAGES TO THE COMPUTER" SINCE THEN MY EXCITEMENT OF THE GOPRO HAS DIE DOWN A BIT. I THINK THE CAMERA IT STILL IN WORKING CONDITIONS HAVENT BEING USING IT LIKE I WANTED Also the gopro editing program that makes you download to your pc its unusable cause it doesn't find the camera when is connect to your pc. That application is on my computer wasting space. As well the camera its not comparable with the gopro iphone app. That was a let down I wanted to use my phone for live streaming purpose to see what I was actually filming didn't realize that during the searching or purchase of the item. Continuing the story I had to export the camera footage to my windows desktop computer which exported fast and simple. after that I had to Transfer the footages from my PC to my MAC manually to edit the videos on the laptop since I use the laptop more for my editing work.. As photograph taker and small video maker I wasn't that impresses with the photo settings since I couldn't see what I was actually taking a picture of since there no screen or is not even comparable for a screen attachment like the other gopro versions. But I did got some lucky shots that were useful the quality was decent but since I edit pictures/videos they come out better. I use the gopro for a water park trip it was pretty useful awesome visuals videos in the water even thought the voice/audio was unusable since the camera had the protect case that is unremovable wasn't that happy for that neither . But I didn't need it the audio for the project I was working on. So for a low price its good if you don't have a lot of income for it, But I would say this JUST waited OUT to have EXTRA money save. So you can purchase one of the more recent gopro versions they could be much better.. Since at first that's what I wanted to achieve have a better version but the prices for those version were a lot more, that I decide for the cheapest item thinking there won't be any different to the item but it is different.

I'm going to rate this product according to what it was intended for.... Low price intro to action camera and the gopro lineup. This camera does a great job of what it is supposed to do, shoot video, take pics, ect. in an action setting. It does not have wifi, 4K and all those other bells and whistles but it also don't cost anywhere near as much. If you need a gopro for video, pics, ect. but don't need wifi, or 4K (who has the TV or the computer power for editing 4K anyway right now) , then this is great camera with none of the stuff you don't need. If you want all of those extras, buy the Black edition. I have the 3 black and bout 2 of these Hero HD's just to have for shooting multiple angles. Didn't break the bank doing it either.

The camera is good for its price and is great for beginners in the action camera world, but the more you compare it to the other more expensive GoPros, the worse the quality of it seems to be. The sound quality is a little bad, especially when it has its waterproof backdoor on, and distant objects have blurry edges. It's also VERY important to know that the camera is built into its housing, and rechargeable batteries become less efficient over time and if you plan on using it a lot, this will eventually make the camera too inefficient to use. Please save your money.

Purchased as a Xmas gift for my 12 year old son. He couldn't wait to use it. His first used it while riding his bike and then he filmed himself swinging and jumping off his play set. The video playback is crystal clear and the operations are easy enough for him to operate on his own. He can't wait to use it while sledding in the snow and under water during the summer. We purchased a memory card and an attachment package from Amazon.

disappointed, The camera failed after a couple of hours. Display failed was not able to film. I will be bringing this back for a refund.

I returned both cameras and can't imagine ever buying another GoPro! If one had been bad that's one thing, but both being bad is unacceptable!

This is a great GoPro for the Beginner or someone just getting into GoPro's. But after you play with it for a few days you learn very quickly it has its limits! You cant put a WiFi bacpac on it, the footage is not as crisp as the newer ones, but it also doesn't cost 400 or 500 dollars. it has its pros and cons but over all is still a GoPro product, but just needs a little bit more features. If i were to just ask for one thing it would be for WiFi capability but the ports on the older WiFi bacpac don't line up the GoPro. So GoPro if you read this please come out with a new WiFi bacpac. but like i said great overall action camera for the beginner or someone just getting into them. But if you have the extra 70 dollars to spend on the hero 3 white do it!!

FOR THE PRICE FOR AN ENTRY LEVEL USER IT IS A GOOD DEAL. NICE QUALITY VIDEO MAKING CAN BE DONE WITH THIS GO PRO. THE STILL PICTURES ARE NOT AS GOOD AS EVEN A POINT AND SHOOT DIGITAL CAMERA BUT THAT IS NOT THE MAIN PURPOSE OF THIS ITEM.

Camera was great until it wouldnt turn back on after first water experience.

Having owned a Hero 960, Hero 2, and a Hero 3 Black i found this to be a pretty decent little camera, the price was way cheaper than my h2 or H3b but the quality was pretty good, it was as if you took my h3, sealed the battery in the compartment, glued it into the smaller waterproof housing and software limited it to 1080, i tend to shoot 1080 most times with my h3 so its wasnt much difference, the only gripe i have is that you can neither remove the battery from the camera nor the camera from the waterpoof housing. the second one is gonna be a big deal later on because i have had multiple gopro housings and the part where the back door connects to the housing always breaks.

Makes a great gift. Good quality video. easy to use. Lots of accessories.

Its a nice little camera its not anything amazing its entry level. But for entry level its a really good buy, for when you need to get those action shots.
