If you are an active person and want to have great HD video but not pay a king's ransom then this GoPro is for you. I used when I went snowboarding and also on my hikes and my kids used it playing in the pool.

The first thing I did with this camera after opening the box is ... break it. The little plastic piece that secured the back door isn't very sturdy and broke. A new aluminum latch from elsewhere and I was good to go. This is a fairly basic camera but I am learning a lot about time lapse photography. However, if I had it to do over I would get the Silver, or, at the very least, the Session or HD+. WiFi would make changing settings much easier. Maybe I'll keep writing reviews until I earn enough points to upgrade.

I have always admired the image quality of the GoPro 3+ black cameras and always wanted to get one and honestly the price has been a huge hold off for me. When I saw the new models of the GoPro 4 came out and the new hero at a more affordable price was among them, I got al excited and decided to go ahead and get one. I started experimenting whit it with all different settings available. The image quality was ok but not exactly what I was expecting specially when dark situations or inside the house whit the lights on. Initially I thought, well, GoPro is probably removing a lot of the other features available in the more expensive cameras such as wifi, car mode, remote access, exchangeable battery, etc,etc, I said, I'm willing to sacrifice all of those since it still an hd and at least have a time lapse mode. But after I made some videos at the highest resolution possible I was disappointed with the results. I think my iPhone does a better job on details and low light situations than this camera whit the exception that my iPhone doesn't have wide angle view. The entry level definitely didn't satisfied my expectations and for that money the cheap SJCAM SJ4000 beats the hell out of this one. By the way, the SJCAM SJ5000 + ambarella which is the competitor for the GoPro 4 black and silver edition is just being released for around $170 and I'm considering on getting one after initial review reports from other users until I can afford to buy a high end GoPro.

I bought this for a friend who wants to stick it on his motor cycle helmet to video his road trips. Its the only way his wife will get to see what's in front of them on the trip.

After being a longtime GoPro user, I decided to get one of these cameras to replace some of the ones I already have. My current inventory includes 7 Hero1's and a Hero 960 and I also have a Hero 3 Black and 2 Hero 3+ Black cameras. This unit will be used to replace the first gen cameras. One of the good features of the camera is the battery life, offering over two hours of life. As for the memory cards, you can use up to a 32gig which is plenty for most. The charging port for the camera is located behind the back door with the card slot just above it, and just the note, the camera uses MicroSD cards. For those looking at getting a GoPro without spending a lot of money and just need a camera without all the bells and whistles like 4K, or you are not the most tech savvy person in the world, this is the camera for you.

Bought for my no frills, low tech fiancée to use while fishing. All of the features he wanted without all the extras he didn't. Good price too!

I bought this camera for me to use when I go skiing, to the pool, beach and taking time lapses of the sunset or clouds.

The quality on this is amazing. Hands down 5 stars

I bought this action camera to replace my JVC action camera because I did not need the LCD screen for the position of the camera being utilized. With the accessories I will be using this camera a lot more than before with the JVC action cam. You can not go wrong with this GoPro for the price.

Good little camera for filming, I like it but wanted to upgrade to one with an LCD screen. I was just a few days past the Best Buy 14 return/exchange policy date, they would not allow me to exchange it and pay double for a better model. I will never shop at Best Buy again, I can find another store who will match the price and allow me to upgrade if I wish. Bye Bye "Best" Buy!

THIS CAMERA DOES NOT HAVE WIFI OR BLUETOOTH. This camera is the most basic model; and unlike the description says this model does not have wifi or Bluetooth. Because of this, the smart remote does not work with this camera and the app does not work with this camera.

You want a GoPro to take awesome videos and images, but don't want to spend $$$$. This is the one for you. The lack of WIFI might be the only downside I have uncovered so far.

Great little camera. We bought it for our honeymoon and enjoyed it a lot. Took over 3,000 pictures and about 200 videos of beautiful Hawaii. All of them turn out great!!!!

It's a good one to start, specally due to it's price. I purchased one for my gf because we were going to the beach and needed a waterproof camera. After having to connect it to the USD port to download the pictures and having only limited timer options, I changed it for the HD+ which was a lot better for only $70 more. You can dowload your pictures to the your phone or tablet with wifi and you can connect a bluetooth device to take your selfies without having to click on the "action" button. Besides that, you get 5 extra timer options, which helps lot when you don't want 200 pictures looking almost the same.

This camera is a lot of fun to use and very durable. There are a variety of accessories as well. Overall a good product.

As for price you can't beat it. Makes a great gift for your kid. If you are older or do cooler things I'd say upgrade to the Hero 4

I love this camera. I always take it with me when I ski or go to concerts. All you need is to buy some extra attachments and you're set.

I was looking at the Hero3 White edition along with a couple of other action video cameras but man am I glad I went with this one!! You get so much for the money along with the piece of mind that your device is strongly supported technically by a brand that has a great reputation. I recommend this camera to anyone.

As a consummate techie, I was hoping all the wonderful videos I'd seen on GoPro cameras were for real, but I was to be deeply disappointed with this, my first purchase. The camera will not, reliably, do Time Lapse in any sort of consistent manner. To start, I was able to get a whole 60 minutes..out of a two hour intended exposure, but since then, only 4-5 minutes max. Reformatting the (brand new) micro disk did not help. Nor did updating the firmware (sigh). It appears, from a simple Google search, that this is a long standing problem. Caveat emptor...I'll be returning this piece of plastic and metal excreta.

This camera is waterproof, shock resistant and mountable. I have been watching these for a while and now the price is right if you don't have to have the latest model. I highly recommend, keep in mind that these don't come with any memory.
