4K video in a small package with a built in light!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Action cameras are flooding the market and many are trying to look and feel and provide similar technology to the device that started it all, GoPro. The best thing about these action cameras is that they pack a serious amount of tech inside a very small package and this device unlike others, has a built in light and a larger lense with absolute 4K video and 12MP photo. Just like other GoPros its waterproof up to 16 feet, is lightweight and has similar touchscreen. This device is also voice controlled and its easy to set up and use with the Quik Gopro app and your video or photo gets auto uploaded to the cloud even while this is charging. The great thing about using these action cameras, it is the most stabilized camera in the industry compared to others and includes 2x slow motion in 4K which makes your action videos even more compelling. The other good thing with this device, its reasonably priced for all the tech it includes which is even better and more of reason to purchase this action camera.

What a Gopro should be
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've owned several different models of GoPro's over the years. All worked great, but the LIT is the first one I feel gets it all right. What makes it so great for me is it is small with all the features I need without the bulk and features I don't need. If you have only seen the LIT in photos and not in person, you might be surprised by how small it is. Without question the smallest GoPro I have used. But despite it's small size, it packs a punch. The LED light on the front is a nice touch and surprisingly bright for it's small size. I like that the power and record buttons are large and not near each other. Keeps me from pressing the wrong one. The screen is bright & clear despite its small size. I like that there is only one flap to open for the micro SD card slot and the charging port. The menu layout is simple and intuitive. And just as important, it is not over complicated with unneeded settings. It's true that higher end models will give you much more in the way of customization. However, I don't need all of that to flick thru on the screen. The simplicity here is a key point for me and I suspect many others. Connection to the app for your phone is seamless and works great. The battery is an internal battery that can not be swapped out. Something to keep in mind if you intend to use it for long periods of time or won't have the ability to charge it frequently. The battery life is good enough for me. However, models with removable batteries will last longer. As for performance, I have been pleasantly surprised. Despite its small size, the still photo quality has been very good. And the 4k video footage has been better than I expected. One feature that I have found very useful is the Slo-Mo function. The video quality in this mode has a nice professional look to it. If you are concerned that the small size will lead to poor photo/video quality, there is no need to worry. As long as the internal, non replaceable battery, is not an issue for you then I would say this is the most well rounded GoPro to date and a perfect fit for most users.

Only my 2nd ever GoPro device
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As the title states this is only my 2nd ever GoPro camera, and only my 2nd ever action camera too. I usually will default to just recording with my cellphone because I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max which has a really nice camera out of the box. However, we do spend time out on the lake & when I got the Hero Session back in I think 2015 I was able to make some cool use out of the Hero Session (climbing & trimming trees because back then I was a Line Clearance Tree Trimmer for a while) and so I wanted to give the updated GoPro Hero a try to see if it was everything my old GoPro used to be, but this time hopefully more. Unboxing & First Impressions Having owned a GoPro, the previously mentioned Hero Session, before the Hero Lit looked familiar while also looking new. The Hero Lit is a sleek device. Sure, my iPhone might have a slightly better video quality in some aspects but the Hero Lit is an action camera, made to do action camera things. The device feels premium in my hands. It isn’t overly bulky, but it does have a nice heft to it to let you know that you’re holding something valuable. Rating: 5/5 Setup & Connection to App/Phone Getting the device connected to the app, and so my phone, was easy enough. The app itself is serviceable. I really dislike how EVERYTHING now has a subscription service tied to it for advanced features that we used to get for free. So if you want automatic editing tools you’ll have to subscribe to the GoPro Premium within the app. If you do then you’ll get up to 50% off accessories, cloud storage, etc. Which is fine, but again, when paying this type of money for a device I’d expect some of the more advanced stuff to be included for free (like the automatic editing). Rating 4/5 Recording Videos I went about recording some videos around the house, looking at how the quality compared to my iPhone 14 Pro Max on my high-end 4K gaming monitor, and even uploading a few to my YouTube channel (as private/unlisted videos) so that I could even see how they look on a 4K TV. The image quality is great! I know on paper my iPhone should have a better camera, and I am sure it probably does, but to me it is impossible to tell which device recorded what without looking at the file names or video titles. I even asked my family to watch the videos in a blind test & even they were unable to tell the difference. That was until we got to some videos of me riding our 4-wheeler out in the woods. The Hero Lit did exceptionally well with this. I don’t know how but the videos recorded on it looked better. Huge win in my book! I can’t wait to record videos with it some when we go out on the lake next summer. Rating: 5/5 Conclusion I had a lot of fun playing around with the GoPro Hero Lit. It is a fun devices that I am sure I’ll continue to get more usage out of. I definitely cannot wait to take it out on the lake next summer just like I said previously. We got some used, but new to us, Kawasaki Jet-Skis that I can’t wait to shoot some videos from & just play around with the Hero Lit. I’ve been wanting a 360 degree camera, and I have been holding off on getting one because I’m not sure if I’ll use it as much as I think I will. I think if I use the Hero Lit as much as I am hoping I will then around this time next year I might bite the bullet & get one, if GoPro has a good one then I’ll definitely be looking their way as I have had success with GoPro devices obviously. That said the one thing that will keep me from it is their subscription model. I am not 100% sure but I feel like most other 360 degree cameras will do auto-editing for free, and if GoPro isn’t the same way then I’ll be leaving the GoPro ecosystem for good unless they can get it together & stop with the subscription nonsense. Overall Rating: 14/15

Small but mighty!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.GoPro HERO LIT Action Camera – My Honest Take I grabbed the HERO LIT because I wanted something simple and portable for everyday use—something I could toss in my bag and not think twice about. I’m often snapping shots of my fur babies, food spots, or just catching moments on the fly, and this camera fits right into that rhythm. First heads-up: you’ll need to get an SD card separately. Not a big deal, but worth knowing before you unbox it. Now, the built-in light? Surprisingly useful. I’ve used it in low-light spots—like grabbing footage near dusk or inside a dim café—and the three brightness levels actually make a difference. It’s not overpowering, but it gives just enough boost to keep things clear without needing extra gear. The size is perfect. It’s light enough that I forget it’s in my pocket until I need it. And the controls are refreshingly straightforward. You’ve got four modes—16:9 Video, 4:3 Video, Slo-Mo, and 12MP Photo—and switching between them is quick and intuitive. No deep menu diving or tech frustration. For me, it’s been a solid companion for casual shooting. Whether I’m filming a walk through the woods, capturing a bakery run, or just testing out slo-mo on falling leaves, the HERO LIT keeps things easy and fun.

An app focused camera.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Go Pro Lit seems to be more focused on subscription software than an actual camera. The Go Pro Lit has many functions of a modern digital camera, such as touch screen, built-in mic, SD card slot and so on. This time around they added an LED light to the front of the camera that has 3 different light settings. You can also use voice controls to operate the camera, just by saying record, or stop etc. The camera itself is very small and easy to mount to objects like a bike helmet, or a dashboard. The company seemed to have one thing in mind when developing this camera, and that’s the GoPro Quick app. While there are a few things you can do on the camera itself, many of the camera’s features require you to use the app. Essential features like video stabilizing and changing the image quality of your footage - require the app. You can import media wirelessly from your camera to the app and if you decide to subscribe to their monthly subscription, then you can save your video to the cloud, otherwise it will take up your phone’s storage. The camera has a few different shooting modes, it can capture 4:3 or 16:9, with a max resolution of 4k 30FPS, (60fps in slow motion mode). I tried shooting videos in 4K, and I wasn’t impressed to say the least. The image quality came out grainy, and the colors looked dull. On top of that, every video you shoot has that fisheye look to it. Still images aren’t terrible, but they also have the fisheye look. There are a few ways to import media, you can use the Go pro app, plug your camera in using a USB C cable, or eject the SD card and load it into your computer. The problem with manually transferring your files either by the camera or SD card, you lose media stabilization to your videos. If you decide to use the app, you can upload your videos to your phone wirelessly, then in the app you can save it to your photo library. Doing it this way takes more time, but it preserves the image stabilization that the software adds to the video. Overall, I am not impressed with the GoPro Lit. The main problem is that image quality isn’t that great. It seems like it’s using a decade old lens inside the camera. If you’re someone who wants an easy and quick way to capture footage and have the app automatically edit a small video for you, then for a subscription fee this would be for you. If you’re someone who knows anything about editing and capturing footage, then I would pass on this.

Not really sure what market it is targeting
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Out of the box, I was surprised by how small and compact it is. The outer appearance looks like it just stuck some lights on the Hero but it actually is smaller. This was a positive for me. Despite its size, they still managed to fit a back screen on it. The "Lit" part literally refers to the light that they added. This is where I have mixed feelings on it. I think in theory, it sounds like a good idea. In actuality, the light is blinding. You definitely have to use the included diffuser for it to even be usable. In terms of usage, I did appreciate that it was essentially plug and play. However, there were some features that I questioned. There is no in-camera image stabilization. These, even all phones have it so if you view raw footage from this, it can be quite jarring. You have to use their app to get stabilized footage and the quality of the stabilization was variable. The video quality also left something to be desired. It is 4K but the detail and crispness just was not there. The night shots with the light (pointed away from me) were more usable than other shots. At one point, it felt like GoPro was the standard for action cameras. While I don't believe they were the first ones to make them, it definitely felt like they popularized it. However, I think that in modern times, the market has gotten really competitive which is great for us as consumers. That being said, I am not sure where the GoPro Lit Hero falls or which market it is for. I think it fits as being a good beginner camera but there are several other cameras that are much more competitive in price which makes this a tough sell. If you want a camera for vlogging, I think there are better options. One specific use for this camera is I think if you really just wanted one camera for basic filming at night, then this could help but that is a very niche market.

Great and Small Action Camera
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The GoPro Lit Hero is my first GoPro, have several other action cams but this is my first GoPro, and I love all the features. With my other action cameras, I struggle to find the right attachments and equipment to use with them, but it seems like the world is set up for the GoPro. The Lit Hero is a compact, entry-level action camera that adds a built-in LED light to the Hero line, making it a solid choice for creators who shoot in low-light conditions. I went to a wedding and had a great time making videos, it is small enough that I could place it in my jacket’s breast pocket and leave it and it captured a lot of conversations and dancing that I would not have been able to capture otherwise. I swore an oath that I would not post any of those videos, it might incriminate someone. Here’s a breakdown of what makes the Lit Hero stand out—and where it falls short: PROS: It offers 4K60fps video: Delivers crisp footage with the option for 2x slow motion at full resolution. It has a ½.8” CMOS Sensor able to take 12MP still photos. It has a 140-degree field of view and can create MP4 of HEVC format videos. It has a built-in LED light: A standout addition for low-light shooting, especially useful for vloggers or indoor creators. The battery life is amazing at over 100 minutes of 4K recording. It is waterproof but only down to 5 meters. CONS: These are not deal killer just observations. There is No removable battery: Limits flexibility for extended shoots, must charge as needed. There is no built-in stabilization, only in the app, not ideal for action-heavy use without post-processing. It has limited waterproofing: 16ft is fine for pools, but not for diving. There is no horizon lock or front display: Less suited for advanced creators and there is no front screen: May be a drawback for vloggers who want to frame themselves. The Lit Hero is a clever pivot for GoPro—less about extreme sports, more about lifestyle and social content. If you’re building cinematic sequences or character-driven content, this could be a great action camera for tight shots or dramatic lighting setups.
