The very first GoPro I owned was the GoPro 3. I know that was a lonnnnng time ago. I honestly didn't feel like there was a need to upgrade for a while, and especially with the pandemic, it wasn't like I was planning on going anywhere. But when the GoPro 10 came out, I thought maybe it was time for an upgrade. Upon opening the package, you're given a case (another huge upgrade from the 3 and all the plastic it came with) which a cardboard mold housing the device and accessories. I would have liked to see some velcro padding included so that the case would be more usable but not a big deal. I'll probably find something. Before you start shooting, GoPro advises updating the software, so do set aside some time to do that. I highly advise you to charge the device prior to the upgrade. It does get a bit warm during the upgrade and may take a few tries if you're new to the app or if your battery is low. In comparison to the 3, everything is pretty much an upgrade but here is the breakdown: PROS: - 23-megapixel camera, impressive for still photos - 5.3k videos at 60 fps, 4k at 120 fps - Front and rear touch cameras (I always had an issue of knowing - whether or not I'm vlogging correctly or if my face is just zoomed in) - Image stabilization blows me out of the water, no need for an external gimbal. I plan on hiking more this year and attaching it to my backpack and the stabilization helps smoothen it all out. - Waterproof casing - GP2 Processor - Voice commands for photos and videos CONS: - The battery and microSD latch was challenging to open. I honestly thought I was going to break a nail trying to open it. But through some videos, it honestly wasn't that bad once you get used to it. The design was made that way to waterproof the device. - Slight overheating at high res recording, which is a disappointment but honestly, not surprising given the size of the device - Instructions aren't intuitive for a new user. - Although Quik phone app has some imaging and photo editing abilities, I had some difficulty connecting with my GoPro and phone. Despise the cons; if you're looking for something simple, not obnoxious to hold on the go, I'd recommend using the GoPro for the quality and build. I can't wait to take this on more adventures in the future!

I had originally a GoPro 9 and after used it under water mic started muffling and sometimes no sound at all. I went to my nearest Best Buy and with the protection plan they provided me with a store credit since the same camera was not in stock. I jusr paid the diffrence and went with a GoPro 10. Now just 11 months after, I’m having the same problem and came to my nearest store and needing my camera for an upcoming trip and they want to keep the camera for about 3-4 weeks to fix it or determine the next step. Basically same thing as sending to the manufacturer. I asked if there was a manager available to assist with option and the geek squad rep declined calling a manager, however he did suggested for me to buy another one for my trip and return it when I’m back from it. Really? I told him that will be wrong from my part to get something, use it and then return it.

I also own the Go pro max but had to have this one for underwater clarity.
