    State of the Art Camera

This is the second GoPro I’ve owned. My first GoPro was the 7 Black, and it continues to be amazing. But when I got the opportunity to obtain the latest iteration, the GoPro 10, there was no way could I say no. The improvements in the GP10 are impressive. The 23 megapixel camera captures crisp photos, the 5.3k videos at 60fps is simply breathtaking (especially in slo-mo). Front and rear touch cameras are great for vlogging. To go over even half of the features of this camera would make this review as long as a novella, So I’ll stick to the points that are important to me. The front facing camera allows you to take away the guesswork of how your shot is framed, because you can see it live. With 5.3k video, I do my best to avoid getting too close to the camera. No need for everyone to see my every imperfection. But for nature or slo-motion shots, the quality is unreal. Easily, the most important feature for me is the image stabilization. Even though this isn’t my first GoPro, I continue to be amazed at how smooth the video plays. My primary use for the GoPro 10 is recording my bike rides, I attach my camera to my handlebars. My bike route has several areas where the path is crazy bumpy with tree roots and potholes. It boggles my mind how the recorded video shows ZERO incidents of rough rides. My brain rattles as I go over the rougher parts of my road, but the video doesn’t agree with my brain’s assessment of the rough terrain. The video stabilization is state of the art. Simply amazing… Opening the latch to access the battery and microSD is a bit of a pain. Until you master the technique to open he panel, you are going to break some fingernails. I get it, the GoPro is supposed to be waterproof (to 33ft), but does it have to be access-proof, too? My biggest gripe with the 10, is current owners of earlier iterations of GoPros have to buy new batteries and a new charger. The batteries in my 7 Black are worthless in the 10 (not sure about the 8 or 9 versions). Also, I’m not happy about the terrible instructions. New owners will be a bit confused, previous owners already know the runnings, so that won’t be too much of an issue. Having said all of that, the GoPro 10 is a mini-marvel. The price point is no joke $$$, but it’s a rugged and versatile piece hardware that provides a plethora of uses. Highly, highly recommended!

This is my first GoPro camera and I am blown away! The camera is extremely sophisticated with too many features to count (I am still learning about its advanced capabilities) but can be used right away by even a novice like me! The video options are comprehensive and the high definition HDR footage is really impressive. I particularly appreciate the stabilization and automatic horizon features which eliminate the jittery, vertigo inducing video that using a camera while in motion can produce. The GoPro app is comprehensive and fairly easy to navigate and provides you with remote access to the camera's capabilities. There are a few features that I am still trying to access but I'm guessing that it is the operator and not the device! A few quick notes - when you first fire up the app it will want to do a software update. The camera must be charged to at least 20% before that can happen. So follow the directions - charge first THEN start up the app. Also be aware that the basic kit does not include an SSD card. Refer to the documentation so that you get a memory card with sufficient performance specs to support the high performance video modes. Also, don't skimp on the size of the card - high def video produces some pretty big files. In summary - should you buy the GoPro Hero 10? Absolutely!

This is my first GoPro and I am amazed. My recorded equipment consists of a Sony 4K handicam, a Note 20 ultra, and now the GoPro. After spending some time with the GoPro, I'll be reaching for it more often. The video and picture quality is top notch. Combined with a fast memory card, and I'm capturing fast moving imagery with little blur and no lag on writing to the card. Playing through the modes, there are plenty of modifiers to get the best frame rate and angle. Just like my most cell cams, you have your narrow, mid and long range lens. But here, there is no degradation of image from lense to lense, just clean pic/video. Night lapse is much better than I thought it would be. Actually, darker shooting is pretty good in general. The touch screen is accurate and smooth. From swipes to taps, all commands are flawlessly recognized. On a screen this small, I’d expect for some overlapping touches, but the font and sizing is perfect. Speaking on screens, both are great at representing what will eventually be on screen. Very clear, and the speaker is good enough to get a good feel for the audio. Battery is better than expected and I have been shooting just about all day without the need to stop and charge. I may buy more batteries, but for now, I’m not outshooting what’s already available. Finally, worth noting, is the “extras.” The voice command is great for self framing my shots and I have had no issues. But, it is in general, so if someone is yelling out a different command nearby, it will pick it up. Fairly self evident, but worth noting if you thought it may be tailored to your voice. Quickshot mode is great for on the fly moments. Touch and we are shooting. Simple feature, but I use it often to catch one-of-a-kind moments I would miss with powering up and waiting. The only flaw I have come across is not with the hardware, but with the app. On startup, you have to update the cam before using and I was determined to update via the app instead of downloaded through PC. I’m fairly advanced in technology, but I had quite a ride trying to sync up. After several reattempts, card changes and reboots, I finally got it to take. Tedious, but doable, but if I were less patient, this could be a major sore spot just to get shooting. App usage is also fairly slow in comparison to just off and shoot. I do, however, like that I can control it from my phone. The lag there was minimal, and I didn’t have much rouble connecting. I think after a few updates, functionality will improve, but for now, I’ll stick to the basics. So, in short, this camera is a fantastic little gem, and although it a new addition to my “arsenal,” I can easily see it getting much more usage due to its versatility and profile. Next step is accessorizing. Definitely recommend!

We bought this for the Galapagos trip of a lifetime. EVERYONE on board had one! I mean it...EVERYONE. It was awesome and easy to use, but even better, it's sort of like an iphone....the standard for underwater photography when traveling, so if you have any trouble on your adventure, about a dozen people will jump in to help! LOL. We had a GREAT time with this. Film and photos so much better than we expected.

After years of watching go pro videos I finally have one of my own. This thing is awesome! I'm able to mount it on my bike helmet, it's super light and not very noticeable when riding. I plan on using this when skiing this winter as well. The form factor of this thing is great. The LCD screen is responsive and settings are very easy to use. So many cameras nowadays are so bogged down in endless menu settings. This one is straight forward and super easy to use. Be sure to get the proper micro SD card, as this will impact the quality of the video you intend to record. (Dif speeds/resolution/fps) Overall great product, haven't dropped it yet so I'm not sure how durable it is but based on what I see it seems like it would be pretty hard to break.

Awesome camera! This did spectacular on a mountaineering course in the Alaska Range, provided I didn't let it get too cold. Paired it with a case to make sure it stayed protected from the elements, which was totally worth it for the peace of mind it gave me while I was focused on learning and enjoying the landscape.

    Every year a better upgrade

GoPro does it again with another success. The bottom line up front, it you've got a GoPro 9, this is more of a minimal upgrade, unless you are a serious enthusiast. GoPro 8 or older, than this is definitely worth the upgrade. I've been using GoPros since the 1st model and the company is always pushing the limits for what they can do. Incredible features and incredible video. The cameras can definitely take a beating. My only complaint is a lot of the lenses can scratch easily. The one that comes stock on it is pretty good, but any aftermarket ones can sometimes have problems.

The camera is great. The service at Best Buy was terrible. The "expert in cameras" who was supposed to help me knew nothing about GoPros and seemed bothered to be asked to help me. I had to do all the research online. I only bought it at Best Buy because I could get it quickly. Next time I'll stick with Amazon

The image quality is excellent but when shooting 5.3k 60fps it shuts down after 15 min. In 4k 60 fps, it can shoot a maximum of 30 minutes. battery life is not a problem because when the battery level is 50%, it turns off due to overheating.

First i bought a GoPro 11 Mini, then i figured out that it couldn't take pictures, it only record, so i decided to return it and buy this (GoPro 10) and it was the best decision that i could take. The quality of the pictures and videos is awesome.

This is my first camera of this type. There is plenty of choices out there, but I'm glad I picked a Gopro. Easy to get started using, but a lot of creative tools for the more seasoned user. We chose the Gopro 10 black for the features and the price.

Faster frame rates, smoother UI with new chip, same form factor as 9. Still suffers from overheating issues around 15-20 minutes of recording on higher res or faster frame rates.

Big cons to outweighs the pros

The wind noise is still there while moving and the reduction doesn’t do much. The battery only lasts about an hour, so make sure you buy some over priced spares. The door must be open for charging and exposed to the elements if you have a mic plugged in. The swipe menus are somewhat a pain to use. The quality of the pictures and footage are good though. But In my opinion it’s not worth the $500 price tag.

The 10 does not like beaches

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

We love tropical vacations and snorkeling, so with 3 in the family I have one 9 and two 10's. Our latest trip to Hawaii we snorkeled off of "electric beach" which all 3 cameras went into the water, and when we came out, the 10's have sand wedges in the rubberized coating around the viewing screens, the buttons, and the door that covers the battery sounds crunchy now when opening/closing. The 9...good as gold...no sand wedged into anything. Went to GoPro's site and they suggested soaking the cameras in warm water for at least 15 mins and then rinsing them out (sounds reasonable, the warm water will make the rubberized coating softer allowing the sand to be worked out). Nope...did not work...the sand is still wedged into the camera. To be clear, we did not drop the cameras into the beach at all...this was sand that was picked up just by snorkeling off a beach and the sand that was suspended in the water.
