Quite some time ago I had a Hero 3. Every video I took caught me looking into the camera's status display as I set it up and started the video. That’s a problem now solved with the much more intuitive touch screen and forward-facing display. And it now integrates much more smoothly and seamlessly with the iPhone as a remote control, and its battery life (80m @5K, 120m 1080p) is something to brag about. But what impressed me the most was how far the internal steady cam has come. In order to get what looked like steady video from the Hero 3 you had to do a lot in post-production (and the software was clumsy). Now it can not only give you totally steady video, it can keep the horizon almost totally level, even if you turn the camera upside down. It’s as if the capture chip were round and turning inside the camera, truly remarkable. Quite a difference, 15 years of additional development has brought. The 3 had HD video @1080p/30fps & SD video @512p/60fps), versus the 11 having 5.3K/60fps,4K/120fps. And the 3 had 11MP photos and the 11 can take 27MP photos with increased color depth. And you can take everything in 5.3K and decide afterwards if you want to use the captured video in 4x3 or 16:9 in either portrait or landscape orientation. Such flexibility. The lens is still fixed focus, it’s very sharp beyond 12-16”, but no macro capability, too bad as it has 5 wide angle lens settings (FOV 155-141 all digital). The Hero 11 now has an AUTO ISO setting where it chooses the best setting based on available light, I found that it’s blacks were better with much less digital noise in low light conditions, much truer flesh tones with less pixelation. I was quite surprised by how much improvement there was in its low light performance, not quite what a good DSLR with a fast lens can deliver, as it still softens the image a bit much. But the video looked excellent, photos a bit softer.
The camera and the software attempt to hide many of the more complex features. By default, the camera is in Easy Mode, hiding many of the settings/features that allow you to tailor your video/photos. Most of these features are accessible one by one from the button they call upper left. These include Slo-mo, Lens, HyperSmooth, Scheduled Capture, Duration, Hindsight, Timer, Zoom, 10-Bit, Bit Rate, Shutter, EV Comp, White Balance, ISO Min, ISO Max, Sharpness, Color, Raw Audio, Wind and Media Mic. The feature I found I used the most was the Zoom function; this provides a 1.0-1.4 digital zoom. For photos the GoPro’s wide-angle lens is often wider than I prefer, changing the zoom to 1.4 gives you a format closer to what you get by default on your camera/phone (~50mm DSLR). A couple of other things to note; the camera runs warm, just from being powered on. If you don’t use the camera in the provided cage, this is immediately noticeable. Shoot 5+ minutes of video at 5.3k it becomes even more apparent. With the cage not as obvious. But on a warm day in Phoenix (>100F) I was shooting some pool videos in the sun, and I got a CAMERA TO HOT warning. Their support site said to put the camera somewhere to cool down (duh) . It also said shooting at a lower resolution can help prevent this problem, or using the Volta tripod when shooting. The Volta grip includes a 4900mAh battery, which is nearly three times the capacity of the 1720mAh Endura Battery that ships with the Hero 11. The grip can also be controlled via Bluetooth, and it can change from time lapse, to video to photo mode. I really like the grip/tripod but wish it had a quick release mechanism. You have to screw the mounting fingers on the bottom of the camera on/off to release the camera. The mounting fingers allow you to twist/rotate the camera on the tripod, and the buttons on the tripod allow you to control the camera from the tripod (or via Bluetooth). It could easily be used with the scheduled start/stop and time lapse to capture, say a sunrise without having to get up early. So with the battery grip you could get over 6hrs shooting time.
The other thing to mention is to get a HQ Micro SD card. I used a Samsung Pro Plus, a SanDisk Extreme Pro and a PNY Elite Pro with great results. With a SanDisk Ultra and a Samsung EVO I found they had problems with the 5.3K output. So, look for a microSDXC card with specs like: 100MB/s, Class 10, U3, V30, A2. The camera can handle cards up to 512GB, I’d suggest sticking with 64, 128 or 256GB cards or where you find you get the better bang for the buck.
This is a fantastic camera; the best GoPro has produced. I compared it to the latest Action 3 camera from a famous drone maker. The Hero11 much better in almost every category.

I bought my GoPro to make video of my dail work as im working on the road. However the battery or the camera heat faster which lead to shut off the camera itself. It doesn’t last longer than expected when i do my recording. I mounted on my dashboard but it doesn’t support the heat of the motor

Good Quality, Awesome Battery Grip

The GoPro HERO11 is a great little wide-angle camera that comes with awesome accessories like the Battery Grip which has button controls and even serves as a charger for the camera. If you’re not familiar with GoPro cameras, there is a bit of a learning curve, but nothing that you can’t learn more about online or just learn by going through the settings and playing around.
Footage in bright lighting looks great! Sunny skies make for very crisp files. My favorite camera feature is the time lapse mode. I like to vlog my art projects and use the time lapse mode to show the progress of a project. I experimented by taking videos in 1080p, 4K, and 5K. I gotta say, it’s not the best in low light, but it’s on par with any other camera in its market. I don’t know any camera that’s super crisp in low light. The HyperSmooth Stabilization is a huge help because the tripod/grip is not a gimbal so I need the extra stabilization to have smoother footage while I’m in movement. I was expecting the photos to have the same crop as the videos, but I’m only seeing photos in 4:3. Just like with any “night sight” photos, I suggest using the tripod and to be very still when capturing a photo.
The front screen is my favorite physical feature because I can switch it up while vlogging and still see what’s being captured. I really like the battery grip it comes with because it doubles as a tripod stand and provides extra battery power. The GoPro battery itself drains a bit faster than I’d prefer, but the battery grip saves the day! The extra accessories are nice, but I’m mainly using this GoPro on the battery grip.
The light accessory is nice too, but the attachable diffuser has fallen off and I almost lost it multiple times in one day. Another small con is that the screw handle used to secure the GoPro onto the Grip goes right under the camera and doesn’t stick out much thus making it hard to tighten or loosen - not a deal breaker, just something I noticed. Now for my least favorite bit, the hinge by the battery compartment - it’s really hard to open.
Overall, it’s a really fun camera to use. I’m giving it 4 stars because within the short time I’ve had this GoPro, it’s frozen on me a couple of times even after updating it. The app doesn’t want to stay connected to the camera for longer than a few minutes and I was really looking forward to using my phone as a monitor or remote control (to record or take photos from afar). If I hadn’t run into these issues within the first week of use, I’d give it a raving review.

This GoPro Hero11 Black Creator Edition Action Camera is full of great features. It comes with everything you need to capture great video and photos, or stream live. The camera is an upgrade from the previous GoPro models in several different ways. It now has an 8:7 aspect ratio, better stabilization with image sensor, 1 billion colors, Cinematic 5.3k, 27MP, and batter battery life, up to 38%, and support in cold weather, with the Enduro battery. This comes with the Volta aka tripod battery remote, as well as the flash mod and the media mod. The camera also has a 3.5mm mic input, so you can use your own microphone instead of the standard mic that is on the camera. With this setup, you can get up to 4 hours of video at 4K and 30 fps. The camera is waterproof too, up to 33 feet. Another cool feature is the time warp and time lapse. The Quik app is downloadable and I had to first download the app and update the camera before use. The app lets you organize your media and store it in the cloud. It also lets you edit and gives you a showcase of your media. Those are the pros to this new camera. There is only one con. The camera gets hot with extended use. I used it both inside and outside, and it got hot on me when it hit the 30-40 minute mark both inside and outside. It didn’t get so hot that it shut off, but it was noticeably hot. The camera did freeze on me once, but that’s all and I have used it a lot. I am using a 256 GB memory card in it.

Worthy Upgrade For Some, Fantastic Creator Bundle

You might be saying “Oh great… Another GoPro with a new, higher number” That might be true from the outside if you are familiar with the Hero 10 as, from the outside, the Hero 11 is unchanged. What really counts with this generation is what changed on the inside. When compared to the Hero 10, the Hero 11 gets a larger sensor which allows for a nearly square aspect ratio, 10-bit color video, Ultra Wide ‘HyperView’, HyperSmooth 5.0 video stabilization, 360-degree horizon lock, and a previously optional “Enduro” battery that is now standard.
I was excited to try out the Hero 11 as my newest GoPro is the Hero Max which really isn’t in the same league as the regular GoPro’s. If you only count traditional GoPro’s, my last one was the Hero 3+ Black… so yeah I needed an upgrade.
The creator bundle has a ton of nice features include the carrying case. It is nice and durable for carrying not only what is included in the bundle but other items as well. The tripod acts as not only a functional mount/remote combo but also as an external battery. This allows you to run the GoPro longer than you would have with the standard battery inside the GoPro. The tripod is very nice and comes in handy if you want to use the webcam option that the Hero 11 offers. You must download additional software to your computer to use this functionality but it’s great to have this as an option. The Hero 11 should offer substantially better image quality than most built in webcam’s these days.
When it comes to using the Hero 11, I love the additional features that it has vs my Hero 3+. These have been around for a long time but for those that may not have upgraded for an eternity now, these just make using the camera easier. Setup via the GoPro app was a breeze with a fast connection, easy updating, and controlling the camera in real time. Funny enough, the Hero 3+ has this functionality too but on a much more antiquated level which made it somewhat difficult. The Hero 11’s front facing screen is nice for framing shots when needed or checking the status of the camera. The rear screen is great for easy navigation. The built in mount/waterproof design is great for not needing that pesky external case. I’m sure you understand the point and can’t relate because you are coming from a camera that already has this stuff.
The video quality and image stabilization is amazing. Given I have used my Hero Max for a few years, the original HyperSmooth is very good but 5.0 is next level. I really enjoyed using the GoPro Media Mod mount with the built in mic, cold shoe mounts, and additional ports such as 3.5mm input or the HDMI out for an external monitor if you want. This creator bundle is truly ready to go out of the box for vloggers, with or without experience creating content.
When you look at video and picture quality it looks ok. The 27mp sensor is an upgrade over the 23mp one found in the Hero 10. The pictures look pretty good in bright lighting but start to suffer in dimmer conditions. When I took some pictures of the fall colors, every picture turned out looking like an oil painting within every mode. I am not sure it is something most people use all the time on GoPro’s but it great to have an improvement there. The Hero 11 can film at up to 5.3k/60fps with lower qualities having quicker frame rates available. These include, 4k/120 fps and 2.7k/240 fps. The 10-bit color boasts an improvement over the 8-bit color offered before which I can say the video looks fantastic. Battery life is supposed to be improved at substantially and I would say it offers good life with the standard “Enduro” battery. The camera does get a little warm when recording for longer periods of time but this is typical as even my Hero 3+ gets extremely hot after a short time. The easy mode for the UI offers ease of use enhancements for controlling the GoPro which is great for beginners. As a whole, using and recording video with the Hero 11 was a pleasing experience and I am thrilled with the video quality from my other GoPro’s.
Overall, the Hero 11 seems to be a slight upgrade over the Hero 10 despite looking identical. For those with an older camera, say Hero 8 or 9 (or older) this seems like a very worthy upgrade. The video quality, colors, stabilization, and battery life should be improved noticeably. This all comes down to how much and what you use your GoPro for. If you create content many times a week then the latest and greatest will always be in your favor. If this is a casual use camera, then the decision might be a little more difficult unless you’re like me with an antiquated setup.

An Enjoyable Experience with the GoPro Hero 11 Cam

I recently had the pleasure of using the GoPro Hero 11 camera, and I must say, it's been quite an enjoyable experience. While it may not be perfect, it gets the job done admirably, making it a solid choice for capturing life's adventures.
Image and Video Quality (4/5): The GoPro Hero 11 delivers impressive image and video quality, particularly in well-lit conditions. The 4K video recording capabilities are a standout feature, producing crisp and vibrant footage. However, it could perform better in low-light situations where noise tends to creep in. For most outdoor activities, though, this camera will have you covered.
Durability (5/5): This camera's robust build is a standout feature. It's waterproof, shockproof, and rugged enough to handle all sorts of environments. Whether you're diving into the ocean or taking it mountain biking, the Hero 11 is designed to withstand the elements, making it an ideal companion for adventurers.
Ease of Use (4/5): Navigating through the Hero 11's menu and settings is fairly intuitive, even for those new to action cameras. However, some may find the touchscreen interface a bit fiddly, especially when wearing gloves or in wet conditions. Additionally, while the voice control feature is handy, it might not always recognize commands accurately.
Battery Life (3/5): This is one area where the Hero 11 falls short. The battery life is decent but not exceptional. For longer adventures, you might need to carry spare batteries or a portable charger. It's a minor inconvenience, but it's worth noting.
Connectivity and App (4/5): The Hero 11 offers seamless connectivity with your smartphone through the GoPro app, allowing for easy remote control and content transfer. The app also provides an array of editing tools to enhance your footage, which is a nice touch for those who like to fine-tune their videos.
In summary, the GoPro Hero 11 is an "alright" camera that's more than capable of capturing your adventures with good image and video quality. Its durability, ease of use, and connectivity options make it a reliable companion for outdoor enthusiasts. However, it's not without its shortcomings, particularly in terms of battery life. If you're willing to work around that limitation, you'll find the Hero 11 to be a solid choice for documenting your action-packed moments

I was so excited to get this GoPro Hero 11 with accessories. My first impression was that I loved how it cane in a case to keep it protected and organized while storing the camera or traveling with it. The size of the camera is perfect. For a small canera it has a good size screen out that is clear and easy to navigate. I love that it comes with a mini stick to mount it on that also serves as a tripod for still action videos. The quality of the video is beautiful. Its clear, brightly pictured video quality is honestly a+ and crisp!! I love how I can continually record without having to record in sections! I did purchase a memory card to go along with the canera so that I am able to make more videos. I have used the GoPro while atv riding to capture videos of us going through mud pits and captured videos of my husband digging in the excavator to have videos of his work to add to his portfolio. In both scenerios the videos have come out amazing and clear. I love how i can capture a wide frame for an amazing background as well as upclose crisp videos. Ive also used it to record videos of the kids riding the atvs for memorable videos to pass onto them when older as well as when we go to the track. One of my biggest issues with previous recording devices was having a clear video image in the late afternoon or evening time but with this GoPro im able to adjust the lightening and still get beautiful videos anytime of the day. Overall Im very please with the quality, the color, and speed of capturing these amazing moments with the GoPro. Not once have I had a video come out blurry, every video has come out amazing. Its easy to use, great for videoing, convenient that you can record longer videos without having to put short clips together, and great to use for any action video!

I have absolutely fallen in love with this camera. As someone who bought the 1st and 3rd GoPro, I'm in awe of the quality. I think even someone coming from a more recent GoPro will be in awe. I was able to take this on our trip to Scotland and get some terrific shots. I did my best to try at all the features I could and not regress to just using the defaults and I'm glad I did! Now onto the details.
The first feature I wanted to try was the new Hyperview. It is absolutely bananas how wide the field of view is on it. It looks very cool, but there is a level of weirdness and distortion from the FOV that will lend itself best to using it in a very specific artistic way.
Next I wanted to use the media mod to its full potential. We walked around a graveyard at night in pitch black, narrating as we went. While the camera did struggle a bit in lowlight as GoPros always have, the addition of the light mod brought whatever we were looking at into view nicely. On top of that the dedicated mic with the windscreen was able to capture both my audio behind the camera and my wife in front of it very clearly even through the windy Edinburgh nights.
The Volta Grip is a must have accessory even if you don't go with this bundle. An all in one, grip to hold it steady, tripod, charger for the GoPro and remote control came in handy more times than not. I used it for every shot.
This was my first time using the GoPro Quik app but I'm very impressed. It's a great easy-to-use all in one app for the entire pipeline from video transfer, to editing, to posting to socials.
I just have a couple minor cons. First is that the battery life, even with the Enduro battery that comes with the package, is low. I was able to get 1-2 hours at 4k 30. The Volta grip does extend that though which helps! I mentioned the other 2 cons already, low light is still lackluster and Hyperview is odd but cool.
Overall I an so happy with the GoPro Hero 11 Black and the Creator Edition. I can't wait to put it through some even more challenging situations. Another fully happy GoPro fan!
Pros:
Wide array of high video qualities and image sizes
The media mod with light and mic adds a lot when recording
The grip/tripod/charger is a fantastic multi-use accessory
Bright, vibrant, beautiful displays on front and back
Fast and easy media transfer to phone using GoPro Quik app
Horizon line recording works fantastically
Build quality is fantastic, nothing feels flimsy
Cons:
Battery life is pretty low (1-2 hours)
Media mod isn't waterproof, just water resistant
There's still some work to be done for low-light video
Hyperview is cool but starts to look really odd and distorted very quickly

I've used a Hero 7 for years and it's been solid, but I heard that this latest version has significantly more advanced tech, so I wanted to give it a go.
This is absolutely a significant upgrade; the image quality and stabilization are unbelievable. I'm sure you'll see all sorts of reviews and youtubes about this gopro, but really holding and using it, and viewing the raw video on a laptop or large screen is the best way to experience it. You can set it to wide angle or normal, and you can set video stabilization to eliminate any shaking and bouncing, you can even lock the horizon so it's like the camera is on rails while the action moves around it. I strapped it on my dog and took her for a walk right before dusk, and the fall colors came out brilliant, and there was no shaking even as the dog was bouncing around while walking.
The media attachment turns it into a very useful video rig. I'm still experimenting with the mic settings, but it's super handy to have two cold shoes for attaching flash or other accessories, and the control handle works great. I like to use it as a remote control, and it can share its battery power with the camera.
Here's a little advice when you first get this set -- some of the hinges and swivels are really tight at first so you have to work them in.
