I bought this Gopro for the simple fact of wanting to record my dogs hunts. I didnt relize how versatile this product could be for just a daily use of someone who likes to keep memories of a lot of life events no matter how big or small. This gopro is extremely travel friendly, it is such a small product yet captures such beautiful large views. It is so easy to use, battery life seems to be great, as i only used it for videos so far, has a screen on the front and back so you can see yourself in the view. Highly recommend.

I was not as familiar with Action Cameras. I have seen them around. This was the first GoPro I was able to experience. The Build quality is amazing. It just feels durable and sturdy. For such a small lightweight action camera. It feels solid and now I understand why. What I enjoyed about the camera is it only comes with two buttons. One to change the 3 modes. The other is to record and take pictures. I like simplicity! The buttons have a distinct "click" so you know you are pressing them. The display screen is very precise. For such a small display it worked well. The slides to get to the menus never had hiccups. The screen felt crisp and smooth. The mode it comes in is set for the basic functions. You can turn the advanced mode on to get more functionality. You can change the resolution, frame rate, etc. The image quality is amazing for such a small form factor. It's perfect for the outdoor enthusiast. The microphone sound was also acceptable. This camera is capable of so much. Image quality outdoors should not be a problem. As long as you are not in low light. It has great video stabilization. It also has a feature for audio tuning. It comes with an app. The GoPro Quik App. It allows for more capability. You can do things on the go. You can control the Hero 13 through the app on your phone. There is even the capability for voice command! Now, the battery is one of the downsides. With this camera spitting out high resolutions. I didn't expect the battery to be that great. It's decent but it's not anything amazing. Also, the door to enclose the battery and micro SD card is a tight fit. I struggle to get it open. Yet, I'd rather it be tight than loose. Outside of those small issues, I'm still learning more about the GoPro Hero13! I'm still amazed you get so much performance in such a small package!

I got it open box and went to pick it up at an out of town best buy and the process was grueling. I had ordered it online and when I got to the store (despite the order saying it’d be ready that day) the employee said there was a hold on my order. I waited around until the store closed to see if the hold would be removed. When the clock hit 8 I got an email saying my order was canceled. The employee told me I could just purchase it again in person now that it was canceled, but because I had already paid for it once, I didn’t have enough money on my card. Luckily I had brought my girlfriend with me and she paid for it and I paid her back a few days later when the money got refunded. Its an awesome product, but I have to say I hate online orders to in person pick up. As for the GoPro itself, I love it. I have used it many times for swimming, diving, surfing, and soon sailing. Image quality is amazing. Battery life is stellar. Amazing product.

Worthy Upgrade or for a New Action Camera User

The Hero 13 Black is the latest in a long line of GoPro action cameras and, as always, there are a number of new features and innovations. One significant feature is something that was taken out of the Hero 12 Black and was probably restored due to popular demand: GPS support. It’s optional whether or not to enable it, but many people (myself included) find it to be very useful. As far as innovations go, the interchangeable lenses are the biggest deal, but since I only have the lens that came with the camera there’s nothing more for me to say at this time. Another has to do with some new available accessories. One is a magnetic mount that snaps to the bottom of the camera. This allows you to mount the camera using a standard GoPro mount but then quickly snap the camera itself off and on. There is also an available replacement side door that has contacts for supplying external power using a cable that snaps onto the outside of the door. This is superior to the older “USB pass-thru” door that was not watertight and allows the camera to be used with an external power pack while filming underwater or in other wet conditions. I’m not sure if this door is compatible with older cameras or not. You have to supply your own high-speed micro-SD card, and after installing that and the included (and larger) camera battery, the initial setup goes quickly, assisted by the “Quik” smartphone app. Once the latest software update is installed and a few other questions are answered, you are good to go! There are a lot of available settings for the camera and for each of the various modes that it operates in, but GoPro thoughtfully has the most commonly-used settings packaged up in what they call “Easy Controls” as opposed to the “Pro Controls”. The main capture modes for the camera are Photo, Video, and Time Lapse. I’ll be using the camera mostly for video and in the time I’ve had it that’s the only mode that I’ve explored in any detail, but I can see that Time Lapse could be fun to play with in the future. It even has a way to set the camera up overnight facing up to make a time-lapse video of “star trails” rotating across the sky. There are also some interesting video options such as the slow-motion capability. Slow motion in a video or film is done by shooting the scene at a higher frame rate than normal so that when it’s played back at normal speed it looks slowed down. The Hero 13 can shoot bursts of video at an astounding 240 frames per second; when played back at the standard 30fps the motion is slowed down by a factor of 8x! This can only be done in short bursts since it understandably tends to overheat the camera. After taking videos there are a number of options for how to save and/or edit them. The camera can be connected by USB to a computer for direct copying of the files, which are in MP4 format. It is also possible to have them automatically upload to the GoPro cloud service, although a subscription is necessary for that useful feature. The Quik app on a smartphone or tablet is another a good way to upload them and has a lot of decent editing features. The two limitations of these cameras are the storage size of the SD card and the battery capacity. The battery issue can be alleviated either by carrying extra batteries or by attaching a power bank to the USB port, which requires either a pass-thru door or the new magnetic connection door. There are an endless number of applications for an action camera, but I’m sure that mine is one of the less common. I got this mainly so that I can make videos from my bicycle that can be used to create rides for a popular indoor cycling app. When processed, users of the app worldwide will be able to ride my routes on their indoor bike trainers with the same effort that it takes to ride them “in real life”. This requires me to take video with 4K resolution and a 16:9 (Wide) aspect ratio at 60 frames per second with Hypersmoothing. That frame rate allows the app to speed up or slow down the playback according to the effort that the rider is exerting. GoPro Hero cameras are the only ones certified for taking these videos and the Hero 13 Black is the latest that’s been approved. I haven’t had time to film a full-length route as yet but my early testing has had excellent results. I’m especially impressed by the way that the “hypersmoothing” feature completely takes out the small bumps from the cracks and tar strips in the pavement and am looking forward to doing a full-length ride with the Hero 13 Black in the near future. No matter if you’re an experienced action camera user with an older model GoPro (or other brand) or are new to all this as I was, you can’t go wrong with this easy-to-use and powerful new product!

I recently picked up the GoPro Hero 13 Black to start live streaming my son’s baseball games, and I couldn’t be happier with both the product and the experience at the Woodbridge Best Buy. The camera is incredibly easy to use—even for someone who’s not a tech expert. Setup was simple, the touch screen is responsive, and the live stream feature worked flawlessly right out of the box. But what really stood out was the staff at the Woodbridge location. They were patient, knowledgeable, and made sure I left with everything I needed—from the right mounts to a power solution for longer recordings. They walked me through the setup and gave helpful tips to get the best stream quality. Big thanks to the team there for making it all so seamless!

Upgraded from the Hero 8. Friends have the 10 and 11. Noth with different features. Demo on the 12 was pretty cool. Decided to pull the trigger on the 13. Stabilization software is incredible. Tested between the 11 and 13 on several downhill biking trails and am thoroughly impressed by the 13. The 11 does a great job, but the battery life is way shorter than the 13. My friend decided to upgrade after our ride. Now we both have the 13 and enjoy the smooth footage of our rides. Only gripe with the 13 is accessory compatibility. Older mounts tend to not be as compatible and this may be due to the shorter folding legs. Otherwise, best camera I have purchased since Hero 4.

The GoPro Hero13 is an impressive piece of technology. Its seamless integration with the app makes managing footage effortless, and the live broadcast feature is a game-changer for capturing and sharing moments in real-time. The remote trigger adds incredible convenience, especially for dynamic shooting scenarios. The camera is well-built, durable, and packed with modern, innovative features. While the subscription is required for some advanced features, it enhances the overall experience, making it well worth it for enthusiasts.

This camera has been frustrating to own and use, to say the least. On the positive side, the camera's image quality is excellent. It's capturing my nature walks beautifully and I'm really happy with the videos I'm getting with my preferred settings. In addition, the camera works well with the GoPro chest mount and I find the mount system to be easy to use. Finally, the ability to plug in an external microphone and capture binaural audio as I have has been easy... although I did have to purchase an obscure 90-degree male-to-female jack to be able to use an external microphone while using the chest mount. Unfortunately, there are some bad things I've experienced with this camera. 1) The battery. The battery life is awful when in use. I'm lucky to be able to record 50 minutes of footage. Further, the battery drains quickly even while sitting someplace, turned off. Without any wireless or other settings that might cause it. For me, it loses about 5% per 12 hours of sitting turned off. Given the short time the battery lasts when in use, this can be super annoying. On top of this, the battery takes forever to charge. Several hours. I didn't purchase the separate battery charger, and instead charged by plugging the camera into a USB-C port on my computer. This seems perfectly reasonable, but unfortunately not for this camera. The rate of charge is entirely slow, (multiple hours to get charged up). Perhaps the charge would be quicker and more consistent with the separate charging dock, but it seems ridiculous that it would be necessary for such a basic function. In addition, the battery cannot charge via USB-C into a computer or car while in use. It goes into a forced "data transfer" mode and ends any recording going on. If you want to have a larger "capacity", you have to remove the battery and plug in via USB-C, and hope that your charging source meets GoPro's requirements that seem strangely high. Charging via USB-C from a computer is very inconsistent, with it regularly "disconnecting" and "reconnecting" for some reason. See more about this below. 2) Data transfer is painful. Plugging into one's desktop computer via USB-C is easy enough, but for whatever reason, if trying to transfer more than one file at a time, the transfer will randomly cancel as the connection will disconnect and reconnect within milliseconds of each other. This never happens if I just transfer one file at a time. As you can imagine, transferring 10 video files one by one is frustrating. I'm using the USB-C cable that came with the camera and it's being plugged into a USB-C port on the motherboard. Nevertheless, this happens and it's awful. Some will suggest that I take the MicroSD card out and put it into a separate USB-C card reader... but again, that's more money and something that should NOT have to happen. Beyond that, I use the Media Mod accessory and having to take the camera out of that any time I want to charge or transfer data seems silly. What's the point of the USB-C pass-through if it's not able to be used? Data transfer, like battery charging, is a basic feature of any camera. It needs to work sufficiently well out of the box. This camera's data transfer does not. If I could sum it up, I regret purchasing this camera and the accessories (chest mount, suction mount, Media Mod, Micro SD card). While the video quality is indeed excellent and the external audio jack in the media mod is doing its job well, this camera struggles with some very basic things... charging/battery and data transfer. That is super disappointing for having spent approximately $600 on the equipment.

I've been a GoPro fan for many years, and I assure you - you would love this latest GoPro 13 camera. It records awesome sports action videos in high smooth video quaily. The sound quality needs some improvement, but maybe I need a good external mike. Oh, and I really love the extended battery life - it lasts more than an hour on full charge. This was a long awaited upgrade from the GoPro Session. The upgrade in picture/video quality is worth the price alone, but it also features a front-facing screen which is very nice. It also has good stabalization built in which makes videos while moving around look very smooth. Build quality is good, and can't wait to use it while paddleboarding.

This is my first GoPro. I bought it primarily to be more active and take footage but I took this on a two week vacation. It was great for both photos and videos. The quality is amazing and I love how shakes/bumps rarely show. The battery lasts a long time, as I had it with me wherever I went during my trip and only had to charge it twice, but once would’ve sufficed.
