I am an amateur photographer and was looking for a new camera for videography and this camera is it. I also had no way of doing any underwater whotigralhy without buying a super expensive housing for my current camera but I love using this in and around water without worrying about it getting wet

Only purchase this camera if you are very active! I love it, but you can't zoom in nor can you control the volume when the camera is in the mount. There's no way to turn the volume up while watching what you've recorded. I'm a person who likes reactions, its no good for that, only stunts and action.

Because its my business I buy a LOT of cameras and have bought a new GoPro Camera within a week of every release since the Hero 2 and I have yet to be disappointed. GoPro cameras are workhorses and they can take a beating and never miss a frame. It seems that every new processor brings a new GoPro proving they keep up with technology. a 4K 30p camera for 500 bucks is a great deal but add in the waterproof design, the built in intelligence, lower light capability, built in wifi,,,,and on and on and on. Its a deal ... great quality, great price and an incredibly flexible product whose consumer version has completely changed the professional video industry....THAT is amazing.

For someone who is out and active, this is an awesome camera. Disclaimer, to play back and edit 4K you may need to upgrade your graphics card or processor (my lenovo laptop couldn't handle it). & definitely get it insured, because these things can't take that much of a beating from my experience.

This camera is by far the most advanced gopro yet. People are complaining about the black edition not having an LCD screen and the cheaper silver version having an LCD. I'll tell you exactly why, 1) the black edition isn't for the average Joe who wants to play back what they've just shot. 2) the black edition is too powerful for an lcd screen. 4k30fps 2.7k50fps and the holy grail 1080p120fps. These are some powerful settings. Remember this is an ACTION camera, the people using the black edition aren't worried about viewing what they're shooting at the time, they're focused on what they're doing. Also, the gopro was designed to film yourself so you wouldn't be looking at an LCD screen anyway. As far as the app goes, It's simply to see the angle you've mounted your gopro at and to control the recording. For example, let's say you mount it on your head and you want to make sure the angle is good, connect to the app, check your angle and hit record...

I bought the camera for others, and my son has indicated that it is Five Star. The grand kids are also using it while BMX riding and give it high grades. My son indicates that he will be using it for his business also. They are having a little trouble getting the editing software to work.

I love the video shot on this camera. Whether in 4k or just 1080 the picture is outstanding. The water proof housing is fantastic and lets you get really nice water shots. Price is high but you definitely get what you pay for

I bought this camera to use on our trip to Hawaii in September. Have used it at home to see just how well it works and am satisfied with it so far. Very stable video! Am looking forward to seeing it in action in Hawaii. I do wish the software was more computable with The Microsoft Surface 2.

It has amazing quality and really cool features but you have to buy an SD card with it plus the gear to mount it. (which is also overpriced), so if you plan on using it the first day you buy it be ready to drop about $600 on all this stuff. It is a sweet camera tho.

It is really easy to set up and use. the shots and videos are really clear the size of the go pro is great no problems caring it around

i upgraded from hero 3 , and very similar camera to use , but much better quality video and pic's . just be aware the battery for hero 4 is not compatible with the hero 3' s or earlier . i do like the new battery design .

I bought it because I was going to see the Grand Canyon lake. The images it captured are so real and high definition that I can still feel myself at the grand canyons by watching the footage we captured using hero gopro 3. A definite recommendation for adventure trips or explorers.

Bought this for my dad to use when hunting and fishing. Also bought the sportsman mount to easily attach the camera to fishing rod and gun. Only complaint is that the battery life and memory is not long enough as he wanted the ability to let the camera roll during these sporting activities without having to hit record when the action starts. Other than this it's great! Wide eye allows for panaramic recording view.

This is my first GoPro I have ever owned so I don't really have anything to compare it to but so far this little thing is amazing. I have been using it around the house to get a feel for it and it takes amazing quality video. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a GoPro!!

This is an amazing little camera. Such high quality photos, video, and it's easier to operate than the GoPro Hero 3! More features, higher quality, and easy to use!

This is a great little camera. Very small and light weight. The menus are very hard to read and the owners instructions could be a lot more detailed. Not having a viewfinder is overcome by using my Galaxy S3 with the GoPro phone app allows me to completely control the camera remotely with its Wi-Fi capability and my phone becomes the viewfinder. The CON is that there is no zoom capability so a more traditional camcorder is a must have companion because the GoPro is NOT a 'do all' camera. It has very specific uses and does them well.

This was my first GoPro I have owned, and I am blown away with the image quality and overall capabilities of this product. It is very worth while thoroughly researching about the levels of the GoPro series to make sure that you are getting the features you want out of the device.

GoPro has a great reputation. The newest camera in the lineup doesn't fall short. With great accessories and easy of use, I give it 5 stars. I've never owned a gopro and always wanted one. This one went to Burning Man with me as I shot photos and used it in addition. Loved it!

I loved this camera, it takes stunning pictures & videos, I have friends that have the other versions of it and I believe it is definitely worth paying the extra money for this one, Its a little hard to figure out how to work it at first, I wish it had easier access to certain features but i guess you cant ask for much buttons in such a little thing. Overall love it, it inspires me to go travel the world.

Love the 4K record mode. Also like the Wifi feature, always me to control the camera with my cell phone. I did not think i would use this option but after setting it up. I'am no longer trying to reach and turn the camera on and start recording while it is mounted to my roll cage.
