Coming from a hero 3 black I had to go with the hero 4 black other wise it wouldn't be much of an upgrade. The hero4 silver has a built in LCD which to me is useless and it doesn't have the spec improvements which is what you are paying for when getting the hero 4 black. 30fps at 4k resolution is smooth and crisp. 120fps at 1080 will be a huge improvement for me as I was limited to 60fps at 1080 on my hero3 black. ONE downfall I had that the new hero3+ and hero4 come with a new "standard housing" that is slimmer, which is fine, but with a battery bacpac from my hero3 I was happy to see they kept the mounts the same, as I went to put on my bacpac back housing later realizing the "older" battery bacpacs came with a different size backing that wont fit on the new slimmer cases. The workaround to this is they sell a backdoor housing kit for $9.99 which isn't too bad and comes with 3 different backdoor housings to let my older battery bacpac work on the new hero4. The only alternative to this is to buy a dive housing for $49.99 or if you buy a battery bacpac from anything recent they should have the slimmer updated backdoors in that box. its only because I had a battery bacpac from before the hero3+ came out. Also food for thought, the older hero3s actually have what they now define as a "dive" housing. Meaning the older hero3s actually have deeper waterproof diving capabilities from the factory but gopro updated to a smaller slimmer case on hero3+ and up to save space I guess. This is fine for the average joe as average joes don't find them selves deeper than the standard housing can go anyway.. but if you have old hero3 housings, keep them! they are dive housings and fit the hero3+ and hero4 cameras.

This is a great camera, and it's lots of fun to use outdoors -- especially with our dog. Even though a newer model is now out, I'd still buy this one for the 4K video (which the newer one doesn't have).

Bought this in October when it came out and it takes great quality videos. My issue is the software. I fix pc computers for a living and this program crashes, freezes, locks up, or exports corrupt videos on all 3 of my computers. It's such a hassle to wait hours fora video to finish converting only to have it lock up at 99%, or crash there. Then if it miraculously finished converting, I have to hold my breath while it goes through the export process and repeats the same errors. The best advise I have gotten so far is try lowering the frame rate, only, if I wanted to take low quality videos I wouldn't buy a high quality camera. I found that answer unacceptable. The camera I give 5 stars, none for the software, unfortunately the software is required to get the videos to work. After about one month of use I finally got one of my videos to render without an error. Im much happier with my Canon point and shoot. One third the price, no hassle. Take a video, plug into computer, done.

Bought this before our family trip to Florida. Had it with us in Disney World and on a trip to Saint Augustine. We were amazed by the quality of the videos and sharpness of the photos. Great purchase!

Great camera to take on the go. Size and weight make it easy to bring on daily adventures no matter what they may be from motocross to snowboarding it gives a different perspective and takes awesome pics.

Purchased for my husband for our motorcycle. He is planning a ride to Alaska in 2017, so got this camera for him to start using before his trip. He will be mounting to either his helmet or the bike. We are still playing with the options on the camera, but so far, it does take nice, clear videos.

This is a great camera. I am new to cameras and this my first camera ever. I love the quality of the videos and pictures, they are crystal clear. However, It took my a while to understand and figure out all the different settings. But I got used to it after a while and now I use my camera everyday !

This is the most advanced action camera on the market today, all features are user friendly and has the best picture, cannot go wrong with GoPro.

Bought this as a birthday present for my boyfriend and he can't seem to put it down. Great product and very easy to use I would definitely recommend!

I have been using the go pro 3 black for about 6 months using it to document my bike rides (27 miles a day). I upgraded for the faster higher resolution Nd thus far I am not disappointed. Same easy interface on my phone so if you have had any history then you will be OK. I didn't like that it didn't come with the remote bit I never ever used the other end that came with the 3.

Phenomenal images and video. Perfect action camera for the person on the go. I use it when hiking, kayaking, sailing, or just at parties or events when my large "pro" type camera is just too much.

It was fun to video are adventure and be able to watch it later. My niece loved wearing the chest harness keeping her hands free yet recording.

I think this is the best camera I have ever purchased, the best part of it was when I took it to Florida and went scuba diving best quality ever!

Gopro4 is easy to use, lightweight, and compact. Recommended for great image quality in action videos.

I use it as a CPT with my clients and it has been a great addition to my business. Now I can show my clients their form and they can visualize what they need to do to maximize their work out.

So far I love this Hero 4 Black. It was my Christmas present from my husband. I have been testing it around the house. It has great sound and video quality. Can't wait to use it Scuba Diving.

I have the 3, and the 3+ and now the 4. Camera is another major upgrade for the Go pro line. I use it in my Phantom 2 and the 4k video is stunning!

GoPro has outdone themselves with this camera. I strongly suggest spending the money and getting the black edition. Don't even waste your time with the other models. This camera is a must have.

I took the camera on a recent trip to the Southern Hemisphere and used it for both still photos and video. Although the quality isn't as good as my DSLR, it is light weight and easy to use.
