I use my GoPro for Ariel videography in photography. The new 4k at 30 frames per second is a major step up for the GoPro. It allows me to stay a little farther away from the action, and later crop into 1080p in post without losing any of the detail. I wish they hadn't changed the battery design, but that's a small price to pay for the increase in camera performance.

Using the Hero4 for stills yields lackluster results. The pictures can be grainy, although everything is well-focused. When recording video, the small size of the camera makes it nearly impossible to get a stable picture. It's to difficult to get a stable picture without a Steadicam sort of mount. The usability, out of the box, can be challenging. Using two or three buttons for control is frustrating. Using the smartphone app for control is also annoying due to the multiple steps needed to switch Wi-Fi networks every time. The Wi-Fi antenna also drains the battery very fast. Bluetooth would have been a better feature, despite the number of Bluetooth devices that might not work with the camera. The add-on accessories are certainly not cheap and you start to feel like GoPro is "nickel and diming" you. Did not like that the default method of charging the camera is via USB. Even if you buy an additional battery you must charge the additional battery in the camera unless...you buy a charger. Battery life is also not fantastic.

This product is really simple to use and take such great quality on a small device. Money well spent and such a long time debating after using someone else's I just had to get one for myself.

I needed a camera and a camcorder and got both in this one small powerful product. For anyone looking simple and powerful this is a perfect product for you !!! I am planning to buy 2 more !!

Compact & captures amazing videos!! Does not substitute for a digital camera. Think about how you will use it before you go to the store to buy it as accessories are expensive and addictive. $499 camera + $400 in accessories is what I ended up with. Not sure if I'll use them all......

It's a fun camera to have for little films and adventures. Great quality but the battery life sucks.

I was concerned with the capabilities of the Go Pro and the ease of use. All of this was unfounded, my 7 year old son uses it and it takes awesome video and pictures above and in water.

This is my first GoPro and I love it. Super easy to learn how to use. I take it everywhere. My only suggestion would be to buy extra batteries if you plan on a very long trip with it.

I bought 2 for my son and daughter, they love them! It's only been close to a month that they got these as gifts and they have already done videos and presented them to the family. I would recommend this to anyone, you don't necessarily have to be involved in sports to own one either! Creativity is key.

great action cam during the day. great under water. but not so good in low light. still worth it.

Easy to use, great picture quality. Stills shots look great too. I downloaded the GoPro app so I'm able to use it handsfree when it's attached to something that is out of reach.

whenever I first decided to buy the new Hero4 I was torn between the Silver and Black editions. I decided that the extra $100 was worth it, and I'm so happy that I did! The picture at 4K30 is unbelievable! I also recently purchased the 3DR Solo Drone, and these two are a match made in heaven!

Great little camera. The price is just right for the 4k feature. So far I like it better then the Hero 3.

This camera takes great video at 4k resolution along with high megapixel pictures. The only downside is the battery life is short so make sure to purchase some extra batteries.
