Like the others
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had this for one month and it stopped working when water splashed on it. Doesn’t make any sense, but waiting on GoPro to replace. I highly recommend buying the subscription from GoPro for easy replacement.

Great pictures but steep learning curve!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed a durable camera to take pictures and video of travel and adventures. So far I'd been using waterproof digital cameras, but now that my phone takes better pictures of my camera, I realized it was time to update! This is my first GoPro. I have lots of friends who have them and they're solid fans. What I've found after using this camera for a few weeks is that it takes impressive pictures and video, that I'm nowhere near taking advantage of all of its capabilities, but there is a learning curve getting used to this camera and the Android app is confusing to me. I'm really impressed by the simplicity and the durability of the camera. There's very few control buttons and they're pretty obvious in use and placement. It has a touchscreen which is pretty wild to me -- it's a tiny screen but I can still navigate around it for various settings and features. It's a little getting used to swiping around on the tiny screen, but basically left and right select mode (still, video, time lapse), swipe up to see the pictures and media on the camera, and swipe down for settings. The pictures are really good. You can choose between a wide format which gives your pictures a fish-eye view, or a linear format with mostly flattens the image. It's still a bit fish-eyed around the edges, but the durability makes it worth it. The video is amazing. All that hype about how smooth the video is, that's obvious even for the novice. When I take video, there's no shakiness. It really looks like you're using a tripod or something solid. My biggest challenge about it is just understanding the basics. How do I use the app, what can the app do? How do I get pictures off of the camera and onto the phone? There are settings for auto-synching, but what do they do? I'm still learning, and that's pretty frustrating for me. I'm a heavy tech user and I'm used to picking up a device and quickly figuring out how to do everything I want to. So -- if you're a GoPro user, this camera is amazing. If you're a beginner, this camera will still give you great pictures and it's very much worth it, just be prepared to spend time looking for tutorials.

From Snowboard to Boardroom
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I read about the upcoming GoPro Hero 7 Black I was immediately impressed with its specifications and capabilities. I never owned a GoPro previously so upon receiving it it I was somewhat intimated by thinking that all these incredible GoPro capabilities must be difficult to use. Eager to find out I popped the battery in and fired it up. I was quickly relieved to discover exceptionally easy operation with an intuitive touchscreen interface which made selecting shooting modes and other preferences simple. Love it! I downloaded the GoPro app and proceeded to connect my camera. Here I had some initial difficulty but soon enough I was connected via WiFi. You can also connect via Bluetooth if you so chose. I was now ready to see what it could do. Initially I just took some sample videos and photos around the house. Switching modes couldn’t be simpler. In video mode I was quickly impressed with the video quality in 4K in combination with GoPro’s Hyper Smooth Video Stabilization which quite effectively reduces camera shake. I found the results pretty stunning. The stabilization isn’t total but it certainly removes a great deal of camera shake. Upon testing the photo mode I was somewhat less impressed. Photos are great but comparable to my phone photos. Here you’ll also find GoPro’s Superphoto feature which amounts to some pretty impressive HDR processing. Eager to test the GoPro Hero 7 Black further it occurred to me to use it for a work project. I work in retail and was about to open a new store location. I normally document the end result of a new store setup with a PowerPoint slide show of photos which I present to my CEO, executive staff, and board members at the board meeting following a store opening. Pretty boring stuff but I now had a new fun tool at my disposal. A great deal of work goes into fixturing, stocking, and merchandising a new store so what better way to show all that effort than to show the process in time lapse from start to finish with the Hero 7 Black. Upon completing the store setup I then used the GoPro to take photos throughout the store. I also did a walkthrough video of the final sales floor. Being unfamiliar with video editing I next used the GoPro app’s QuikStories video editor to easily combine the three element of time lapse video, photos, and walkthrough video into a slick short film. The board members and my CEO were truly impressed with the video quality and editing. My boss even questioned what equipment I used to make the video so smooth and stable. He assumed I used a gimbal. Thanks GoPro for effortlessly making me look like a pro! The GoPro Hero 7 Black is a full featured action cam with great specifications and intuitive interface. From snowboard to surfboard to board room it’s a hit.

The BEST GoPro Hero Yet!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is by far the best GoPro yet with the addition of HyperSmooth Video, updated Voice Controls, SuperPhoto with HDR, Live Streaming and TimeWarp Video. I’ve owned all the previous versions and was a little skeptical that GoPro could improve enough on the Hero6 to warrant the Hero7…well, I was wrong. The all new Hero7 just got me excited about using a GoPro again. It’s packaged like the older versions and ships with one rechargeable battery, The Frame, a curved and a flat mount, mounting buckle and a USB-C charging cable. Since it’s the same physical size and shape of the Hero5 and Hero6, all of the goodies work on this camera. I charged up the battery and mounted it on my mountain bike for the first test run. The new HyperSmooth video output is truly head and shoulders above the previous versions. It was so smooth, it’s actually enjoyable to watch again and again! I also took advantage of the Voice Controls while riding, and the Hero7 didn’t disappoint. You can start and stop videos, take pictures and turn on and off…no taking my hands of the bars to control it! Next, I used the TimeWarp option, and it is awesome! Even at the FF speed, the video is crisp and clear…it’s so fun for making cool time lapse clips. The SuperPhoto option uses HDR technology to make pictures the best they can be without post-editing. I don’t have the time or desire to have to “filter” my pics…this is the best photo quality possible with a GoPro. Pros: - HyperSmooth video stabilization – gimbal-like video quality - Voice Controls – for hands free operation of the camera - TimeWarp time-lapse videos - Easy touch screen operation and settings - Can be used with the Hero5 and Hero6 accessories I already own Cons: - The Frame fitment is really tight, it takes a little bit of force to remove the camera - SD Card slot is in the battery bay and can be a little challenging to put in/take out card Overall, this is THE BEST GoPro Hero yet and I would certainly recommend it for anyone looking to buy a new GoPro or upgrade their existing Hero. You will not be disappointed!

GoPro 7
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Cool camera but they don’t tell you that you have to buy an HD memory card to use it separately. Also, the app needs work. It’s too slow and the battery life sucks.
