Piece of garbage! ZERO stars!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Total WASTE of my time! I don't recommend this AT ALL if you have never operated this! The instructions are NON EXISTENT unless you go fishing on the web and if you don't have a smartphone, ABSOLUTELY don't even think of buying this CRAP! I have an iPhone and it's STILL a royal waste! NO setup instructions except a picture! $400 and you get a LOUSY PICTURE that tells you NOTHING! And then you have to plug into a USB port to charge it! Thanks Best Buy guy for NO guidance on this piece of garbage when you KNEW I had never owned one before!!!!

Will fail you at the worst time
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The camera's video is great but has a nasty habit where the video will freeze and all you get is audio. This has happened on three separate occasions this summer. You record several hours of video and the clip you want just has a frozen picture with audio behind it. I've upgraded firmware, reset the camera and tried different cards. It's almost like it knows something good is going to happen and is like, time to freeze the video... You just can't rely on this product.

GoPro Hero 7 Black
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This latest version of the GoPro Hero Black series is the best so far. Though the resolutions from 4k at 60fps to 1080p at 240fps has remained the same, there are a couple new features that make this GoPro stand out. -HyperSmooth stabilization is a game changer. Everyone knows from previous models that a gimbal was necessary to have smooth footage recording by hand. Now its much more bearable and easy to watch. -Processing power has increased by doubling the RAM from 1GB to 2GB. -Live streaming in now integrated. I personally haven't tried this feature because I don't live stream.... yet. -SuperPhoto is their way of saying HDR. And there is a new menu set up. If you're familiar with past GoPros, you'll see a major difference. I had to fiddle with this for several minutes just to figure out where all my settings were. Overall, I like this GoPro. i also have the 6 Black. In my honest opinion, I would not suggest upgrading if you already own the 6 along with a gimbal. The new features are not that significant from the 6. But if you don't already have a GoPro, then the 7 Black is a great camera for you.

Powerful mini camera with great image!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Received this Hero 7 a couple weeks ago. My first GoPro branded mini-camera so I needed to get a few accessories as well (chest strap mount, extra batteries and charger). Very small and easy to set up! Had a micro SD card that had a compatible speed rating so popped it right in and formatted it. Interface and menus just took a few minutes to learn and customize. Took for a few walking, jogging, and biking test runs. Really like being able to add overlays for the GPS path/position, speed, and stats via the iPhone and Mac software. Image stabilization while walking and biking was fantastic. Jogging had some side-to-side swing since I was using a chest strap mount, but not too bad. I found that my favorite setting is 2.7K with 60 FPS. Of course as the settings get higher, the file sizes are very large. Seems to splice the files every 4 GB which turned out to be roughly every 8-9 minutes. I was able to splice them, but the GPS overlay and stats were not continuous. I was not able to get reliable playback on my computer of a 4K video, but my machine is not a powerhouse. The camera does warm up a bit during operation, but not too bad. Overall, the Hero 7 black seems pretty durable so far and I hope to get good life out of it. Weather pending, I want to record a bunch of trail videos before winter when I am stuck on the treadmill and bike in the basement. Real sweet device and looks like I'll be sinking money into a few more accessories as well.

Whoa, talk about buttery smooth!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The new hypersmooth feature really got my attention. I currently use the Sony X3000 with optical stabilization and it's excellent...until you put it on the handlebar of my stand up bike. Even optical stabilization can't take out the little vibrations I get (which is kind of strange but I digress). I knew that I'd know how good this new stabilization would be with 5 minutes of riding around the streets in my neighborhood and wow, wow, and triple wow. It is everything they promised. Nothing, nada, just a smooth video. It takes a pothole to shake this baby. The other thing it did was to take out the natural side to side sway that I have while riding. The battery life is so-so at 1 hour and 20 minutes of continuous recording so I had to get more batteries since my normal weekend ride is at least 2 hours. It's my first GoPro, heck I've never even touched one until this week, so I can't compare it to past versions. All I can say is that if you want smooth video, this is a must buy!

Snazzy piece of tech
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My previous GoPro was the Hero+. No issues with that as it worked great and took good HD clarity video. However, with the 4K craze, you kind of want your videos to have that extra pop in clarity. This GoPro does that and then some. As far as size, no real difference between this and my Hero+ as they're roughly the same size. The Hero7 seems a tad smaller but not by much. Functionality seems a bit easier as well with the buttons on the Hero7. Always found the Hero+ to be a bit lacking in terms of user friendly interface. The Hero7 has a simple(r) button for changing modes and a button to start/stop recording. The Hero+ was the same in this respect however trying to change camera modes on it was almost infuriating. The 4K clarity video is quite stunning and comes through beautifully on my 4K LG TV. No issues I've experienced with grainy quality or resolution issues. Taking videos as simple as walking through the woods now seem to come to life. Only downside for me is that I have to buy a bigger MicroSD card as my 64GB isn't cutting it with the 4K resolution. Other then that, great piece of tech and looking forward to taking it to the beach for some fun videos.

Great action camera for anyone
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The GoPro HERO7 Black is my first action camera and has been surprisingly simple to use. It has the right number of features and the integration with the app has been seamless. I have found only 2 cons with the camera. 1. When going from off directly to recording (by just hitting the record button) I'd like to be able to still adjust the zoom. 2. The overall ability of the camera to bring things into focus above beyond 10 ft away in settings above 1080p is a bit lacking. However, thus far I have been pleased and would buy it again.

such a cool camera
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first GoPro so I can 't compare it to anything in the same class, but I will say, this is one really cool little camera. I have always wanted a GoPro just because I thought it would be fun to capture videos of different things I was doing, some dumb some not so dumb. This model has some really neat features! First of all, the video from this little camera is buttery smooth. I have seen footage from some of the older models and this one blows them away. it also has a feature they call super photo, which is a very high quality still photo - really great quality - colors and detail are really good. Then there is live streaming. I have to admit, I have not tried this feature, but I am sure my 11 year old will be all over it as soon as I can pull myself away from using the camera myself. He is chomping at the bit to video himself doing something (I am sure something dumb or dangerous). The last feature I want to mention is a time lapse video feature. I don't know if previous models did this, but it is a fun feature to use. I don't know how often I will take advantage of it, but I would much rather have it than not. Overall, I am really impressed by the GoPro Hero 7 Black and I find myself looking for things that I can video myself doing. I just hope I survive it. Go get one, you will love it.
