Prior to the Hero7 Black, my understanding was that the quality of the video capture was poor due to poor image stabilization. That's no longer the case as of this model. The images are so much smoother, and at full HD. My reason for purchasing this was to be able to take video in challenging conditions - on location, in motion, underwater. This little camera plus an underwater housing is far less expensive than just the cost of the housing for my other camera. So far, my only real disappointment is being able to monitor the video while being captured. The display isn't bright enough to be seen in full sunlight, and I've not seen any eyepiece adapters that would allow this to be used in more conventional videographer mode. Further, I haven't yet figured out how to output to an attached monitor to help in that space. However (isn't there always an 'however'?) there is the ability for a cell phone to act as the monitor wirelessly. So, pair the two together, mount the camera in whatever manner appropriate to the shot, then use a sun-shading loup like the ones sold by Hoodman or XIT with your cell phone as your monitor. The cell phone app also allows adjustments to the camera so you'll have some level of control for cameras mounted in difficult to access situations. And now, the Hero8 Black is available with additional features, and supposedly improved image stabilization

Quality is insane. I purchased this to record/review paintball footage/gameplay and I was very impressed. The stabilization is incredible. You can replace the lens if need be, and extra batteries are available. Super easy to swap those in and out. For the content I’m recording, 1080p 60 FPS I get a good amount of time(I believe 5-6 hours) on a 128gb SD card.

I'm still learning all the functions of the camera but what I can tell right away is the difference in the stabilization...the main reason I bought the Hero 7 Black. I am often shooting under water and grabbing the camera to move it around to follow sea life... big difference between my old GoPro model and this one. So it stabilization is important, go with this one. It's a given that the quality is also amazing.

Love this camera, I use it for recording footage of trail riding on dirtbikes and picture quality is fantastic and very stable picture even in rough terrain. My only complaint would be battery life at about an hour to an hour and a half. I bought extra batteries and a charging station (surprisingly cheap too) and with that purchase, it definitely earns a 5 star rating

Solid little camera with a battery I wish were bigger. Video quality is excellent and battery capacity seems to be at or slightly better than advertised. Since I record multi-hour segments, an external battery is a must. It’s inconvenient to have to pull the door off to plug in external power (and I keep fearing it’ll break, but it seems pretty resilient aluminum); it is what it is.

Very nice camera and easy to use if haven’t had one before. Only thing is it does heat up rather quick and battery does die quickly even when not doing video.

A excellent action camera that does it all. Camera gives you all the bells and whistles you want. Easy to uses . Used last for underwater swimming with the manatees in crystal river Florida . Excellence picture . GoPro has many accessories . Only negative is the batteries don’t last very long, but are inexpensive. Best to buy Four and be safe. Great buy

This hero does it all. Up to 2.7k hypersmooth video in linear mode. For amateur video taking, this camera has it all. The only downside I’ve found is much shorter battery life do to the beefed up processing. May need an extra battery or two.

Very user friendly. Takes awesome videos and pictures too. Recommend a couple of extra batteries especially during 4K usage. Overall good experience

The camera is simply amazing. The picture is vibrant and clear. The audio is much improved from previous versions and the stabilization is mind blowing! Low light is also much improved however in very low light the stabilization starts to break up a bit, but in a gimbal it looks just as good as some DSLR’s in very low light. So far I I'm loving it and highly recommend to anyone looking for a great video camera!

Got the 7 for a gift to myself.... Have been using it for Downhill MTB runs.... Even on low resolution it is incredible!!!!!! Stabilized picture..... Easy to use.... And love being able to hit the truck for a break, fire the phone up, and watch videos..... Price was good, and the product is even better..... Don't think twice if your looking for one......

Nice Camera, Great Pictures and easy to use. My only complaint would be that the battery life is not great.

So, this my be my favorite camera of 2018. I can use it for much more than what I would have normal used a Gopro for. My last Gopro was the Hero 4 and was desperately wanting to believe this camera was the real deal and it is! The hyperlapse and hypersmooth work great. The audio is almost there but usable for most everything. I was so impressed with this camera that I bought a 2nd one.

So I bought this to film the US rallies that I attend with but due to cancelation I have havent had the chance yet. I have played around with it some though and it's very versatile and easy to use. The app allows my phone to control it with ease. The picture and video quality is awesome.i am definitely looking forward to using this some more over time.

Having both the 6 Black and now the 7 black it’s nice to have near gimbal stabilization with the hero 7 black, not have to carry around a gimbal too. One problem I have noticed is intermittently battery will drain in a few hrs. , seems to happen more often when it had been connected to phone or iPad via WiFi. One work around has been to turn off connection in the 7 black, pull battery for a few seconds, reinstall. Probably will be fixed in a firmware update that I’m patiently awaiting.

I love this camera. My family of 5 plan to go on vacation soon and want to record our trip. We have been practicing before hand to prepare. We are super impressed. When you aren’t sure what settings to use, try Youtube. We aren’t super camera savvy so having to learn everything. It’s easy to do with GoPro.

I did a lot of research on cameras and when I found out about the latest GoPro I knew I had to get it. I traveled with this wonderful device recently and it was very convienent to use. Also, very light and offered a great HD camera that to use when taking longer videos. The only complaint I have is battery life. So I highly recommend getting an extra battery. Overall great product.

Purchased this to add to my GoPro collection for usage getting different angles. I liked the idea of the improved stabilization for movement of the camera. I've noticed the battery does not last that long at all. In fact, the battery is only lasting maybe 15 minutes. I thought it might be due to the image stabilization, but I'm clamping the camera to a solid surface for usage. The image is really great quality, just had to purchase an additional 2 batteries and external charger to keep juice to the camera.

This is one of the best, if not the best action camera for someone who doesn't do this for a living. It has excellent features that allow an average person to go from open box to action footage in a snap. This is my 2nd GoPro Hero7 Black. The other one is excellent and still working 1 year, and many filled memory cards later.
