I had the GoPro hero 3 black edition, all the bells and whistles. I never really used it because it was too cumbersome to carry all the stuff around, waterproof cases, extra batteries, and so on. This one was easy, charge it, pop on the card and put it in the cage. Very intuitive. Used it on a vacation a few days after buying it and it was great.

Absolutely love the quality and have been floored with the image stabilization. Word to the wise is to ensure you pick up spare batteries as well however, the camera is not able to be charged in the case while in use.

There were some things like the videos and the pictures with motion that the newer models can do better but i still liked this one over all. If you can deal with those small delays and doing a few extra steps then this would do you just fine on vacation

The basic features and 1080p recording are solid and I like that the case is already water-resistant without an additional case. It's missing some of the auto-recording and 4k features of newer models, but it's good for the price.

Great camera! My daughter actually changed her mind, but it is great for the money if you can find them still in the stores. Of course know they are on #9, but this camera has 4k but I do like the touch screen on the Hero 8, and of course on the 9 you get a color screen on the front as well!!!

I bought this camera to video my boys baseball games. I am able to mount it on the fence and get the majority of the field in view. Being a 4K camera, I wish it would zoom in a little clearer but unfortunately it doesn’t, however, it’s good enough.

Nice picture and sound. The only drawback and the reason why it’s the bottom of the line model is the battery life and the fact it’s internal and cannot swapped out. If you take out GPS and wifi you can get 1 hr of straight battery at 1080p.

Used this to take pictures afar and at night, was surprised that it turned out good and bright! The voice command is so cool!

Excellent camera with a perfect price and size for any use

This is my 3rd action camera I use for sailing and free diving. It's amazing how GoPro evolved and improved their cameras for exactly what I needed. Easy Bluetooth connection allows the control from the cockpit on the boat, and perfect preview of the footage. It's also easier to download and edit the movies or pics. Just in love for it.
