the first one I bought kept overheating and glitching. new one seems ok but haven't actually used it like the first one.

I purchase this originally for me and my son to record videos on the go but ive been using it more for bike riding adventures.

I love GoPro Hero8 Camera. I've been wanting one for awhile now and I'm so happy with my purchase of this one. The price is great too.

Excellent camera but not perfect. Everything is great on this camera but is going to be perfect when it has a front screen and a microphone input.

This is a great action camera for anyone who leads an active lifestyle. The original GoPro is much better than the fake knock offs.

Pretty good, the webcam function is pretty nice. My only complaint is that the access door comes of very easily. Could be lost quickly if not paying attention.

Second camera first was was stolen from luggage at the airport and was never able to use it. Still getting familiar with it but like it so far.

I have a few Hero6 cameras but this one really brings everything you would want into one camera. The integrated mount is a big plus too!

This thing works amazing! I wish it had better wind noise reduction, but what do you expect when you mount it on top of a drag car? lol

great value for the money. Will do pretty muc h anything expected for an action camera. Would recommend a few screen protectors as well

Make sure you protect this with a bumper and glass screen protectors particularly if using for action sports. WiFi issues remain with phone connection, but works.

Great video and photo quality. Controls suck as you are forced to control many features through an app.

I bought this for my fiance because he loves taking videos while we go skiing. He loves it and the video quality is great!

This is a great action cam which eliminates the need for a Gimbal for stabilization, Hypersmooth 2.0 (this is what GoPro calls their stabilization software) works great. It seems GoPro 8 uses a new battery which can sustain the processing power required to support it on higher resolution. So your older battery, though still are compatible, will not enable these higher drain scenarios. Menu is changed and it is now much easy to change resolution, FPS etc. It will take you more clicks to do same in previous versions. ONe thing which is not changed is the screen size, and the screen usage while you play a video. It would have been nice to increase it or make the aspect ration 16:9 so that the video can use it all. Built in mounting fingers is another thing which I really like in this version, you do not need frame anymore and there is none in the box. Plus the mount fingers can be replaced as there are screws to hold them. Battery cover is new and is at the side, it looks very durable and speaks quality. It use HVEC (H265) for 4K 60 FPS recordings and in order to play that you will need a computer with hardware support. One of MY PC with Intel 4790K/GTX 970 was struggling so much while playing a 4K/60 FPS that I have to go and check. I could gather from web that Qualcomm Snapdragon 805, 810, 820, ... supports 4K HEVC decoding. Apple A8, A10, A10x support native HEVC decoding. The A11 supports 10-Bit UHD + HDR. To give you an idea, only 6th generation of Intel CPU supports h/w accelerated H265 decoding(8 bit). Nvidia does it 10 series onward with 960 and 950 from 9 series(so your 970/980 etc will not be able to do it). I noticed that standby battery drain is higher in this camera, I have seen sometimes more than 10% drop when it is switched off and I think a firmware update should fix that. Charging wise It can charge very fast if you have a USB C phone charger (Pixel/Galaxy). Now one of the thing which no one liked is absence of removal lens cover. I have tempered glass applied to the lens but I in general prefer not to do that and a replaceable lens cover allows me to do just that. Additionally the size is changed from Hero 7, so your cases will not work with this model. We have already seen that this needs a newer battery to work in all resolutions with stabilization. I think it is perfect new camera to buy for all your Action Cam usage, there are mods coming (I am going to buy Media Mod), which makes it suitable to many other use cases like vlogging. All the accessories you will buy should work with next generations of GoPro as they typically change it in 3 yeas or so.(based on past changes) Though if you already owns a GoPro 7, all your cases/extra batteries will be rendered useless or of less use. So see if the new features offered are worth for you to upgrade.
