|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This is my first GoPro and I am absolutely floored at the power and quality in such a small package! There is, for a first time user, an absurd amount of variations in the menu settings. You can take photos, videos, time lapse, slow motion videos and also adjust the quality from standard to 4k, just to name a few settings. It was a bit overwhelming at first, but between the manual and playing with the unit it was not difficult to get the hang of it. Jumping in the water taking a video and then coming to the surface in the same shot, I was quite pleased with the quality of the video. The glass protecting the lens let the water slide off and didn’t leave much in terms of water spots, that was impressive! The GoPro app on my iOS device worked well and I was able to transfer the media for viewing and light editing. The two cons I have for the camera are the battery life and controlling the camera through the phone app. The battery only lasted around 1.5hrs of heavy use (screen at full brightness, 4k video, and a lot of touch screen use) and I have not been able to control the camera with the app, it always states update failed. I am sure in time a firmware update will fix the remote control app issue. Overall I am very impressed with the quality of photos and videos the GoPro Hero 8 produces. It is a well built device and I have really enjoyed getting outside and using the GoPro Hero 8!
