Beware the black screen bug
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Original purchased unit suffered the "black screen" failure (well documented, lot of YouTube videos on it) within a week of purchase. GoPro replaced at no charge and paid the shipping in both directions. Replacement unit seems to be working as expected.

Camera had to be returned to GoPro
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Camera had issues constantly. Always had to repair video. It stopped recognizing the battery. BestBuy would not do a return or exchange because of their 15 day limit. It has been sent back to GoPro and I am expecting a replacement.

Some cool changes. Some NOT so cool
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love the new mounts. But disappointed that my old batteries don’t work with it! It has the TimeWarp function which is cool, but it really battles the GoPro app on my phone.

NO TETHER EYE
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this because it was waterproof. You don't have to have a waterproof case. But the waterproof case has an eye on it to accept a tether. Bought it just before leaving to surf in Costa Rica.. No tether. Lost it the first morning. Why would they make ANYTHING without a tether eye?????

Buyer Beware
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second Hero8 Black. Currently the first one is with the Geek Squad because it filled with water in less than 5 feet of calm water. Now this one will be going to Geek Squad as well. It never got wet, was never touched with wet hands, it was only used at the YMCA pool area which was very humid. Within an hour of being in the facility you could see condensation inside the camera lens, and less than 30 minutes after that it shut off and would not come back on. These cameras are not what they are advertised to be. If you decide to purchase one of these, make sure to get the protection plan. Also, Geek Squad must send your camera off upon taking it to them, and it will be 4 to 6 weeks before you get it back.

Another awesome GoPro!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have owned a few GoPro's in my time. I had one other black cameras as well as a couple sessions as well. All of the other cameras have had one thing in common. They seemed to be mainly for people out doing sporty and outdoor activities and they all had the signature GoPro fish-eye kind of look to them. Which is great if you are doing those kinds of videos. But this camera seems to be the first GoPro that is leaning towards gaining a new audience. Its now not only a great action camera, but it is also a great camera that you can use for vlogging, or shooting actual movies on, and it works amazingly well as a still camera. Right out of the box you'll be familiar with the standard GoPro packaging. You might be a bit disappointed to find the lack of too many mounts that come with the camera. In past years you would get a bunch of stick on mounts and things fort the camera. This time you get one stick on mount. Thats it! (not including the one that holds the camera in the packaging) Other than that you get a battery and a very short charging cable. One thing you will notice that this camera doesnt have is the little case you put the camera in to attach it to the mounts. This camera has 2 little feet at the bottom that can be folded down in order to attach it to the mounts. They can also be folded back up so the camera can sit flat on the table. Apart from the the design hasn't changed too much. There is a main door that holds the battery and the extremely hard to get to Micro SD card slot. Really...its hard to get the card out! The camera isn't quite as thick, and there is no swappable lens covers for the camera. So im wondering what you do if your lens cover got scratched. Hopefully GoPro has a fairly inexpensive way to replace them since these cameras do get beat up pretty bad. This camera is also able to add some "mods" that will be available in the hear future like a light and better microphone and things like that. I cant wait to try those out! Next I will get into the performance. This camera at the max level is capable of doing 4k at 60fps...which is awesome! As long as you have good light, your videos will look amazing. Videos with lower light will experience a bit of grain. The menu system has been redesigned to be a lot more user friendly. You can make presets of different video settings and save them and then quickly access them from the touch screen. It comes with a few presets, but you are able to edit those or create your own as well. One thing I really, really love about this camera is the 4K linear mode. Gone is the typical GoPro fish-eye look. This is a regular flat cinematic look that is perfect for vloggers and movie creators and things like that. You really could shoot films with these cameras now. One other amazing new feature of this camera is the enhanced Hypersmooth 2.0. GoPro cameras have had Hypersmooth before, but this time they have taken it up a notch. It looks SO much more steady even if the camera is really moving around and shaking a lot. You get a nice smooth video every time! Plus it works on all modes as well (4k 60fps support is promised to be coming in the near future) This camera also has the ability to take still pictures too. Once again, in good lighting, the pictures look amazing! But if you are in low light, you will get a lot of grain. Thats one thing all of these smaller cameras have problems with, so its not just GoPro I find the video to be very vibrant, not over-saturated or anything like that. The colors are rich and true to life. It can be used with all of your old GoPro mounts and even the older batteries from previous versions will work as well. Overall, this is a great update to the Hero 7 Black. I would reccomend this for people looking for an action camera, as well as people shooting more cinematic things as well. I have a Youtube channel where I instruct people on playing guitar and bass and this will be a perfect camera set up on a tripod to record those videos. If you have any of the previous versions, I would definitely recommend upgrading to this one....you wont be sorry you did!

Surprised and disappointed
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought a brand new laptop 14 months ago with Best Buy sales reps that spoke highly of this machine. It started to get really slow about two weeks ago.Was surprised and disappointed that geek squad wanted to charge me 200 dollars for a quick tune up to speed it up. It’s my only computer in my house hold, and it’s only a bit over a year old. Being a hairdresser with lots of clients, I can’t help but to share my experience with my clients. Disappointed
