GoPro Hero 8 Black - It's a brick now!

I realize that the Hero 12 is out now, but given the opportunity to purchase this, I'd stay away. I bought it last year on sale / gift card and hadn't even taken it out of the box until my cruise this last weekend. It's rated to go roughly 30' deep in the water. On a snorkeling adventure (forced to wear life jackets), I took the GoPro Hero 8 into the water at a depth of roughly 2 - 4 feet. Within minutes the screen went black and shortly after that it ceased to function. Customer support said that even though I hadn't used it, it's past the 1 year mark and they would offer me a 15% discount to buy another one. So my initial purchase is a nice paper weight. If you plan to buy this, do not go in the water. It's not water proof as stated.

Prefer this over the hero 9

If the gram weigh is any type of concern. Price is good for an action camera. More durable than the 9 and 10 and image quality is top notch.
