I bought this in hopes of using it in situations where I can't or don't want to use my camera. The problem is, there aren't that many situations I find myself in where this is more handy than my camera. Also, you have to buy a lot of peripherals to use it. This kit can get you started out if the box, which is why I bought it, but you're going to want something to protect it, whether it's a cage, or the underwater module, you want something that'll protect it. Unlike the Hero 7 and the new Hero 9, the 8 does not have a removable camera cover, so if you drop it and it gets smashed, it'll be more expensive to fix than the two I mentioned. All in all, it's a good little camera, pretty stable and small, pocketable and durable. I bought a Smallrig cage to go around it and a bundle of other accessories, so i could find more uses for it when it when the opportunity arises. I would suggest buying a bigger microSD card too. I got a 256GB to make sure I don't run out of space. If you think the Hero 9 is too expensive, this will be a good back-up instead.

Been a gopro fan for years, using since the hero 4. Stabilization got at another level. A con would be the unchangable lens, and therefore, put a glass protector to prevent deep scratches!

This Hero 8 replaces my husband's Hero 3. The only thing he didn't like was having to immediately go online to update it in order to use all of the features shown in the manual. He likes the touch screen on the back and using the visual part of the screen to frame and shoot. He also appreciates the "review" function. It does use battery faster than the Hero 3, but the 8 comes with 2 batteries to make up for it. He really likes the ability to film vertically. Fast improvement over Hero 3 and glad he made the upgrade.

Very cool what this camera can do. Small & lightweight & I’ve tested the waterproof capabilities & passed. I’ve had few operator errors due to minimal use but will figure them out.

I bought this as an upgrade to my Hero 5 Session. And wow what an upgrade!!! The hyper smooth capability just blew me away. I used it for our Colorado boarding trip mounted to my helmet. The video is so smooth that it’s almost as if I was following my kids with a handheld gimbal. The video quality is great during the day. I did notice that low light conditions, like night skiing, were not good. My video had a lot of noise in it, but I think I need to play with the settings before passing judgement

Works well under water and driving in car. I am not to happy about battery life. A full charge might give you about 6 hours of video. So buy extra batteries and a separate charger. The memory chip gives you about a little over hour. So I bought a 128 GB chip and get 5-6 hours run time.

I had a GoPro 3 for several years and lost it so I replaced it with this one and they have definitely updated it. Great videos and pictures in a small package.

Got this for my fiancé for his birthday. Honestly for everything it comes with, it was a really good price. And he really enjoys the quality

I really like the quality and ease of use. Highly recommend this camera. While not intended for big time action shots, I do use for great quality camera footage for work.

My daughter loves it. This is what she wanted for Christmas. Uses for snowboarding and also when the kids go dirt bike riding. Great quality and easy to use.

I purchased this with our upcoming vacation in mind. It is easy to use and the video quality is second to none! The only regret I have is not buying it sooner.

This is the first GoPro I’ve owned. I bought it specifically for excursions we scheduled on a cruise to the Bahamas. The weather did not cooperate and we got rained out but I was able to use it for a few hours on a Jeep tour. I’m still learning all the features but so far it’s fairly easy. I use the app as well which works great for hands free operation. I purchased various accessories, the waterproof clear case is one I am very happy with. The sound is great, I was concerned it would be muffled but I can’t tell. Like I said I’m still learning and hope to use this on all of our upcoming adventures.

First time using a GoPro and I love the sharpness of the pictures and the quality of the videos. Battery should last longer but it comes with a spare one so you're set.

I use this camera to make video of my work. I do inspections and crawl under houses all the time. The video quality is great and the app to edit video is very convenient

This GoPro hero 8 is a incredible stable action camera. Very easy to use and the advanced options are a major plus. It is a very durable camera for outdoor use.

The GoPro is smaller than I normal cameras, but it’s super easy to use and and extremely affective with all the accessories. It does a good job of making action photography and videography simple by not overwhelming the user with too many options, but providing just enough!

The image quality and the functionality is great but there seems to be no way to change the lens so if it gets scratched up then that's it. Other then that the tech behind the go pro is top notch but do not forget to buy some extra batteries as it can go through them a bit quickly.
