Customers are pleased with the Karma Quadcopter's ease of use and video quality, frequently praising its smooth flight performance and the included gimbal. However, some users expressed concerns regarding battery life and GPS reliability, citing instances of signal loss and short flight times. The lack of sensors was also noted as a drawback by some customers. While some appreciated its compact size and competitive price, others felt the range and feature set were limited compared to competitors.

Worst of the best
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was excited to get my new drone. I had not heard good reviews but being stubborn and loving the GoPro, I bought it. Immediately had problems with the camera pairing. After two good flights it stopped working. I called GoPro and I was sent a new harness in the slowest and cheapest mail speed possible. I had a hard time communicating with the rep and steps to resolve were painfully annoying. I would not recommend for any type of business use but to fly once in a while... a bit expensive.

WORST DRONE
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Buyer beware, the drone will fly away anytime it looses GPS signals. If you plan on spending $1000 and run the risk of loosing it then this is the drone for you. Go pro takes forever responding to issues and fixing them. Best buy will not be responsible for anything that happens to the drone even if malfunctions. Karma had a recall months ago and the issue was not resolved.

Great Drone for A Beginner
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. To start I've never owned a drone that has been more than a Walmart $50 that a crashed 10 mins into owning it. I've been waiting for the re-release of the Karma Drone "though the name makes it sound sketchy" my drone arrived and instantly I took 1 hour to charge the battery and went thru the setup process. The drone remote comes with a little tutorial and as a person who enjoys video games the controls are pretty strait forward. The remote itself is pretty cool it's android based and downloads maps of where you are and shows you where the fly zones are. Also will need to update your software in the remote and drone this can be done while the remote is connected to wifi. So after the hour charge I took it out to a local park that has a lake, I found a area that was clear and relatively flat. I proceeded to setup the drone "added the propellers" when you power up the drone it will connect to the GoPro remote which is handy as well as it will connect the camera automatically. The drone comes with the features of auto take off and land/return to home so the drone will return to you at the push of a button. I proceeded to fly about 19 total Mins before the drone told me to return home and it showed I had about 2 mins of flight time left which wasn't too bad considering how fast I flew as well as I recorded video the entire time. Some features that aren't really talked about are The drone has the ability to fly and pan around you and it will focus on a center point and video 360 degrees. The timer that shows available flight time is nice. It also has a built in GPS and if the drone is out of view it will show you on the GoPro remote where it is on the map. I won't even mention the karma grip it's awesome other than it's a little bulky to maybe mount on a helmet. But it takes very smooth video. For someone who's just wanting to film things here and there and enjoy some scenery as well as they want to have some smooth handheld video the Karma drone is great, folds up very nice and comes with a hard shell backpack. A extra battery is $99 and I believe it's worth it once you've flown about 40 mins you realize that's a lot of video to edit. The drone does lack some features that the enthusiast is going to want, such as the sensors to detect impact, but my opinion if you keep it in view and stay aware of your surroundings with the karma you'll be alright.

Karma full of sand
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this drone about 1hr ago came running home to open it and make a review on it. Turns out when I opened it the drone and remote were full of sand. I was extremely upset at this point I couldn't even go back to the store and return it because the store had already closed. I had to call corporate to make a report just in case the store attempted to give me a hard time in the morning. So for that I give this product one star and GoPro can thanks Best Buy for that. I didn't even get an apology.

Don't buy this
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this in February but didn't open until Late May Major mistake, it has not paired with the controller and with over 3 hours of chat room time with GoPro it still will not function. They sent one replacement harness (fail) and now they're sending another. I'm not sure what the outcome will be.

Horrible
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Took it to Mexico. Flew up probably about 300 feet up. And all of a sudden it says no fly zone and wouldn't let me bring it back down my self and decided to crash next to a power line. Seriously regret getting this junk. If you want a drone just go with the mavic pro.

best
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.flew it a few times, and my first drone, i absolutely love it, no problems at all, just make sure you do the updates and you will be all good, the camera should have better reviews, the recall they did at the end of 2016 hurt the reviews, and people not doing the upgrades to fix the issue didn't help as well. the camera is superb now. and getting 18min battery life now flying.

Great Buy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My first drone and the first flight went perfectly. The second flight was more daring and I captured outstanding aerial video but crashed on landing when the autoland went stupid. That was my fault for not calibrating the compass or getting a good GPS fix before flying. The same thing happened at my cabin. The 4th flight captured spectacular aerial video with no glitches (calibrated compass and GPS fix). It even autolanded itself when the battery level reached a certain point. The only suggestion is to have lots of spare propellers since I have broken 3 blades with encounters with trees. I also have a harness for my Hero 4 Black that I will eventually use to compare videos with. I made a great choice over a competitor's drone.

Great bang for your buck at closeout pricing.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'd been curious about arial photography drones for some time, to go with my GoPro cameras. Since I'm a recreational user at best I didn't want to spend a large amount of money on a drone, and by the time I decided I was ready to spend a few hundred dollars on a drone, none of them in the $500 range would accept a GoPro as they all had their own integrated cameras, so I kind of shelved the idea. Now that the Karma has been discontinued, it has fallen into a price range ($539 at the time of posting) that I can justify. After about a week with the Karma, I can say that it's everything that I had hoped for. The controls are very straight forward, and the flight simulator was very helpful in learning the controls before I sent the Karma into the air. I've got both a Hero5 and Hero7 and they work perfectly. The controls are intuitive and with minimal practice, I feel like I've got a firm grasp on making the Karma do what I want it to do. The only thing that's disappointing, and something that I was aware of before purchasing, is the flight time. I can realistically get about 17-18 flight minutes per charge, whereas the competitors boast nearly 30 minutes per charge. All things considered, if you're like me, an extremely casual user, and one who prefers to stay within the GoPro ecosystem, I think that it's at a price point where it's an excellent value for the money. If you're looking for something for professional or enthusiast use then you may want to look elsewhere as this product is officially discontinued by GoPro, which is why it's at it's current price point.

Good for me
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As with some others, first drone I've owned that wasn't $50. The learn to fly simulator worked for me every time. Which came in handy because I didn't have the funds right off to buy both done and Gopro. (For this model, you need the camera to operate the drone). Once it was all together, it launched flawlessly, auto launch is handy. Using the screen on the controller was a breeze. The only draw back is the battery life. Be prepared to purchase a back up once you are able. After just getting use to it, I brought it back and landed it. (Controls were right on the money). I put the controller down to take a drink... picked it up and was hit with the "battery to low to start" message. All in all, good drone for me.

It has issues. But good for gopro users
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First the good: If you are a gopro person, the Karma is an extension of the gopro experience. Trust me that you want that stabilizer and handgrip for your gopro videos. It makes it buttery smooth with practically no shake. For those wondering if that handgrip is truly worth it, it really is! That stabilizer alone is $300. So might as well get the drone too for $500 more that comes with the case and all that you need to fly the drone. I wouldn't see the Karma drone as a drone as a standalone product. I wouldn't compare this to DJI's or other drone companies. By far they beat the karma in technology in every way. So when I fly with other dronies, i can feel the karma are for beginners and non-advanced drone flyers. I won't go into detail comparison here between DJIs and Karma cause you can google that and find the specs are overwhelmingly in favor of DJI such as mavic pro, phantom 4s etc. The Karma is really for those times when you already have your gopro with you on your adventures, and you want to add an aerial aspect of the photo/video whereever you are (provided its not restricted per FAA etc). For example, when you are wakeboarding etc and you want an aerial video/photo of that. Landscape photography in an aerial perspective (provided its allowable by regulation). I wouldn't get the Karma drone if you don't intend to use the Gopro hero for anything else besides drone use. Because again its not a powerful drone compared to DJI. But it works for me because I am already a Hero user, and I don't want a separate app/program/camera memory card to use a drone with; which is what I would have to do if I got a DJI drone. Another good is that the controller is user friendly. doesn't require a separate tablet or phone to see the camera from drone perspective. You can update all your gopro products using the controller and wifi connection. Now the bad: The controller as user friendly as it may be, has bugs. The "LEARN" feature such as flight simulator and learn to fly doesn't always start. The program crashes and then it goes back to start screen. I get lucky sometimes and it loads. Often time it doesn't load and just pop back to start screen. Also, another problem and its A MAJOR CONCERN, is that when you try to use one of the aerial paths (dronie, reveal, orbit, etc), the program may crash your controller leading it to shut off while the drone is in the air and the controller won't start back up/reset unless you plug it with power from a portable battery pack or AC adapter (which most likely you won't have while you are outside). Or the program won't load at all and it returns you to the camera view. So I highly recommend you bring a battery pack with you to reset the controller. Good thing the drone comes back to the launch site and lands safely. But the return to launch feature comes back in a straight line and not the path you had it go the first place. I can foresee a problem if today you had obstacles in your straight line path. It doesn't have obstacle sensors, so you get the idea. CRASH!. I was fortunate that I was in an open field with no obstacles. I already exchanged the GoPro 3 times and they all have similar issues. Either the Learn programs don't load and/or the aerial path programs shuts the controller down or won't load. My third gopro karma exchange at least have a working aerial path program, but the learning program still don't load consistently. GOPRO, PLEASE FIX THIS PROBLEM!!!!! Overall I kept my Karma now that the aerial paths program work w/o crashing my controller or the program won't load. But it took me 3 exchanges to find the Karma that worked. Since I am not new to drone flying, the learning program wasn't a big deal to me. But it still don't load consistently despite my 3rd Karma. I think once gopro fixes this buggie controller, the karma would be all about the good as I stated above without much bad, besides its not for the advanced drone only users since it lacks the powerful technology found in other drones by DJI.
