Gotrax has NO customer service. purchased 2 of their scooters and they will not pick up the phone, answer emails or even answer their reddit page. If you need parts you will need to scour the internet and figure it out because they will leave you hanging. I would not recommend buying this brand of scooter.

Great foldable/mostly portable electric scooter!

TLDR: Great semi-portable (tad heavy) scooter for quick commutes, or for buzzing around a community!
Right off the bat, I'll make the caveat that I have not used other electric scooters, so take my review as that. I will say right away, wow, this thing is QUICK, and for some reason they say 15.5mph in the listing title, but the manual said a top speed of 18-20mph, and if the small speedo is correct, I've had this thing up to 18mph, and I weigh just under 200lbs, and I'm 6'3" (I feel like I'm a sail once I get moving, so maybe more air resistance also?)! So I wouldn't be surprised if it can hit 20mph.
It folds well and feels incredibly sturdy, its also quite heavy, so if someone lived in an apartment complex up a few floors, lugging this thing up and down stairs could be quite cumbersome. Otherwise, it will fit in 99% of car trunks if need be, due to the folding ability.
I was surprised to see that it has a headlight and brake light, the headlight doesn't seem bright enough to ride in a really dark area, but the brake light blinks when you grab the brakes and it should be very useful if someone is riding behind you.
It seems to hold its charge within a few % of its listed 19mi, I'm guessing if you're just cruising non stop for that distance somehow, you'll probably get the max rating.
For what it is, I could not find any faults with it, its fun, quick, and can get you where you need to go! (within reason obviously)

I've had a Hover-1 scooter for a couple of years which I've enjoyed, and given the opportunity to test out this one, I thought I'd see how the GoTrax compares. Overall, I'm very pleasantly surprised! There are only a couple of minor issues when comparing the two, but I feel that the GoTrax is definitely the better option.
Scooters are all of a virtually identical form factor at this point, so minor changes are where you'll really see the differences. Size, weight, speed, controls, all are virtually identical.
Battery: The Hover-1 line has the battery connect to the neck of the scooter, while the GoTrax has it built in to the floor of the scooter. The GoTrax has a lower center of gravity because of this, and provides a more stable ride. The Hover-1 has a detachable battery so you can take just the battery inside to charge, but really, who is doing that and just leaving the scooter outside? Range is about the same on both.
Tires: The Hover-1 wins in this category. The GoTrax uses a connection to fill the tires which is different from the standard tire pump, so an adapter is needed (which is provided, but might be easy to lose). The Hover-1 comes with a pump, while the GoTrax does not.
Speed: Both are about the same, but I feel the GoTrax has an easier time reaching max speed (about 18mph on flat ground).
Folding: This may seem a minor change, but the GoTrax is far superior in folding for storage. The Hover-1 keeps the front wheel on the ground, which makes it easier to roll around inside while folded, but actually makes it far more difficult to fold as the neck stays connected to the front wheel which then can easily pivot and lose balance until the handle-bar is locked to the back fender. The GoTrax has the neck/front tire in one piece, so the front tire lifts off the ground, and the flat bottom goes to the ground which holds the neck straight and the scooter rests without tipping.
Price: The Hover-1 was $600, and the GoTrax is $400. All things considered, the GoTrax is by far the winner.

This is a very nice budget beginner type scooter. Great for adults and would work great for older children as well.
Out of the box its very easy to assemble. The instructions are fairly clear, although I was a little confused attaching the brake cable. They tell you to squeeze the brake and attach the end of the cable, but they don’t say to release the handle before threading the cable through. Other than that, I was up and running on 10 minutes. Apart from the brake cable you just have to attach the data cable and then put in 6 screws to attach the handlebar to the stem.
I am 6’2” and 215 pounds, so I am right about at the limit to the weight this thing can carry. I found the deck to have enough room for my feet (size 14 shoes)and the handlebars were tall enough that I didn’t feel like I was hunched over while riding.
The display is very bright and clear, showing your mph. battery level, and distance traveled.
Being almost at the wight limit for this, I was expecting it to bog down and have a hard time moving me, but I was wrong. On flat ground I was easily able to get up to sped with no problems. It even handled slight inclines like a champ. Going up a steeper hill, I definitely noticed a little slowdown, but that is to be expected.
It does have a headlight on it and it does illuminate the road in front of you enough to ride at night, although I wouldn’t recommend riding it on dark roads at night just because its not very safe.
There is no suspension on this scooter, so if you are on very bumpy terrain or off road, you will feel it. For most roads and sidewalks, it rode along just fine for me.
This is billed as a commuter scooter, and I think for that purpose it would work great. Its easy to use, gets up to a good speed, and has good range. It even folds up for easy carrying once you get to your destination. So for its intended purpose, I give it 5 stars!

Definitely NOT worth the money i paid for it.
I had it less than 3 weeks and the tire went out. I live in an area where the losers at White’s Bikes don’t want to touch it. So i have to travel to downtown Riverside just to fix it.

The GoTrax - Xr PRO is easy to operate. Installing the handbrake cable was a bit of a pain but it took some good effort to get it in place.
OPERATION:
To accelerate, you push the scooter forward slightly and use your right thumb to push down the accelerator. If you hold it down for 8 seconds in the same position, it goes into cruise control. This is a good feature because my thumb was getting tired after a bit, as there is good pressure on the accelerator. To cancel cruise control, you can just tap brakes on the left hand or tap the accelerator with your right thumb.
RIDING SPEED:
The max speed in the manual is as advertised, at 18mph. In my case, even on downhill, I got up to 18mph. Although most of the time I was hovering right around 17mph depending on the wind. By default, the scooter came programmed with Kph. There are two riding modes "P1" and "P2." P1 is just a bit slower and P2 goes faster. Unless you really want to limit the speed (maybe if a child rides it? Though it's intended for children over 13). I didn't see a need to limit the speed, as you can do it on P2 just as well. All these features are selected by the same button that powers on the scooter depending on how many times you push it. (once, turns on, twice fast,
POWER:
On a bit of a steep uphill (roughly 30 degrees) and without much momentum, the scooter was struggling with a 180lb rider (advertised max is 264lbs). However, riding at speeds of about greater than 10mph, the scooter had no issues with long shallower hills and a few steep ones. The torque is weak but the speed is good for its size.
SAFETY/NIGHT RIDING:
The scooter also has lights you can turn on in front and back (headlight and red taillight, which acts as a brake light). I rode it at night and the illumination is fairly decent (roughly 10 feet in front). However, one of my gripes is that the front light has somewhat of an upward angle and so you lose that illumination vs if if were angled downward, it would cover more ground. The other part about night riding is that the screen that shows the battery and mode cannot be dimmed. It is blue and super bright, so night riding vision is impacted. Maybe a simple opaque or dark film over it would fix that.
PORTABILITY:
Folding it is easy and itt's not
CHARGING:
I charged it overnight and the charging indicator is on the power brick. Green means good.
RANGE:
Lastly, I rode it for 13 miles and the 4 bar battery indicator was down to 1 bar. The advertised is 18-20 and based on my indications, it was well on its way to accomplishing that. When you turn it on, it tells you briefly how many miles/km you've ridden it. However, this disappears when you start riding and and it only shows the current ride's distance.
I also rode it over some small gravel paths and it had no issue, although I would limit "off-road" riding. You can feel the bumps, especially if the tires are inflated to the recommended 50psi.
RECOMMENDATION:
Overall, I recommend this scooter for its portability and range, but don't expect super fast speeds or a to carry a large load. The lights for night riding are a plus.

First off, the “Specifications” and “Features” listed for the GoTrax Xr Pro has a lot of incorrect information.
-It does NOT have 8.5” tires, it has 10” tires. I measured them.
-The max speed is not 15.5 mph, it’s 18 mph.
-The color is not black, it’s clearly gray, as seen in the pictures they provided. It’s even listed as gray in its model number.
-The maximum weight capacity is NOT 220 lbs, it’s 264 lbs as printed on its retail box and included manual.
-Their listed product dimensions are wrong. It’s:
-Product Height 47.5 inches (measured from floor to digital display)
-Product Length 47.5 inches (measured from back tip of back wheel to front tip of front wheel)
-Product Width 18.625 inches (measured from one end of the handle bar to the other end of the handle bar on opposite side)
Maybe this was just the information given to Best Buy by GoTrax because the included manual was just as bad. It is littered with mistakes of all sorts: spelling errors, grammatical errors, missing pictures that the instructions refer to, and inconsistent use of terms (e.g.: in the scooter’s parts diagram what’s listed as a “safety latch” is called a “spring pin” in the printed instructions. Nowhere in the manual is the “safety latch” ever referred to again aside from the diagram that lists the parts of the scooter).
When I received the product, what should’ve been a 5-10 minute installation took me about 8 hours. The reason for that is because the brake cord was too short out of the box for me to latch on to brake lever and thread through the handlebar. The instruction manual was worthless, offering no guidance whatsoever should something like this occur during installation. If you read other reviews, you’ll see that this issue has happened to others as well. I had to be careful as to not be reckless and end up voiding the warranty. It wasn’t until hours later that I figured out for myself that the brake cord’s length can be adjusted from the rear wheel’s disc brake. You have to loosen the Allen screw that’s closest to the brake cord until it eases up the grip on the cord to a point where you can adjust the length of the brake cord. This allowed me to have enough length to finally install the brake cord on the handlebar.
Adjusting the length of the brake cord will also adjust the tightness of the brakes when you squeeze the lever. I’ve read some reviews complaining about the responsiveness of the brakes. The make them more responsive, you’ll want to make the brakes tighter by shortening the length of the cord on the left side of the Allen screw before clamping it down by fastening it.
With that sour first impression out of the way, I love the look of the Xr Pro. It loses the super cheesy block of white that highlighted the GoTrax branding on the scooter’s tiller the old models had. The GoTrax branding is still on the tiller but now it’s more unassuming and looks more professional. Even the splashes of red on the scooter is unassuming and provides a nice subtle contrast to the grey for its look. I personally think it looks really nice.
The Xr Pro has 2 speed modes, which some people like to call “gears” since they familiarize them with switching gears on a car. However, the scooter’s 2 modes aren’t gears, and I wouldn’t recommend switching between the modes while in motion because the sudden difference in the handling of speed could knock you off your balance.
The 2 speeds are P1 and P2.
P1 runs at a max speed of 15 mph.
P2 runs at a max speed of 18 mph.
Its acceleration will vary depending on weight. I’m 170 lbs and on a flat surface it accelerates pretty easily. However, when I’m on the sidewalks of Brooklyn, NY where it’s not always flat, accelerating from a low speed, and maintaining speed did feel like an issue to me. I felt like it was lacking power. My best case scenario was riding on the bike lanes. Unfortunately 15mph doesn’t seem fast enough to ride with the flow of traffic on some NYC streets. P2’s 18mph does help but not on larger streets like Ocean Parkway where cars can easily go 25 mph while you’re only maxing out at 18 mph. Of course, Ocean Parkway does have a bike route, but there are other similar streets like Flatbush Ave, Ocean Ave, Coney Island Ave. And aggressive drivers will be agitated with you sharing the same street and incessantly honk at you instead of just passing you. The Xr Pro is best ridden on local roads or dedicated bike paths. Technically, riding an e-scooter on sidewalks is illegal. The only reason why it’s so prevalent is similar to jaywalking. It’s not seriously enforced.
At about 35 lbs, it’s not exactly light. But it’s probably as light as you can get for an electric scooter because a lot of the weight is from the battery. I think the 35 lbs is the sweet spot for compromise for weight and mileage/power. If you can, try lifting 35 pound dumbbells and see if it’s something that’s manageable for you.
I got about a total of 18 miles on a single full battery charge with the Xr Pro, while mostly riding in P1 mode. It was 2 mile trips each way, making it 4 miles round trip, per day. So it nearly got me through the weekday. Charging it overnight would make any worry about the battery for this sort of routine a non-issue though.
Charging takes about 6 hours from 0 to 100%. The battery is non-removable.
The display is clear and easy to read even in sunlight, at least for me. It operates with a single button through a combination of holds, single, double, and triple presses. It’s very easy to get the hang of it. There is no electronic lock to prevent theft. To the right of the display is the throttle button. You accelerate as fast as how much the throttle button is depressed. To the left of the display is the bell and brake lever.
On the tiller is a bag hook, which I found pretty useless. It’s at an angle any bag you hang on it is prone to swinging around. I put my dinner on that hook, a takeout order from Popeyes, and the bag fell off the hook while I was riding. Fortunately a pedestrian was kind enough to let me know my bag fell. There’s no tension clip for the hook, and the hook’s opening is rather wide.
The Xr Pro folds and unfolds easily but because the handlebars from end to end take up more than 1.5 feet it’s still not that compact. The only thing you’re really reducing by folding is its height, from 47.5 inches to 16 inches. When folded, the front wheel is lifted off the ground and the bottom-side of the front of the deck touches the ground. This causes that bottom of the deck to scratch against abrasive ground, like concrete. And New York City isn’t known as a concrete jungle for nothing.
You also can’t roll the scooter when it’s folded so you can’t roll it while holding it vertically or horizontally. Your only way of transporting it safely while folded is by lifting it while held horizontally.
Because of the way the Xr Pro unfolds, by pressing down on the plastic back fender, you cannot place your foot on the back fender while riding. There is even a sticker on the back fender warning you not to step on it. This also means there’s no back fender brake. There’s only one way to brake, which is using the lever on the handlebar, and it controls the brake on the rear wheel. I found the brakes to be responsive. You may need to adjust the tightness to your liking. Refer to manual on page 13 to see how to do this.
There is no suspension for the wheels but the pneumatic tires seemed to handle bumps on the road pretty well for me. I got nervous when I saw garbage and debris in front of me on the road, but I was able to ride over flattened cups, a sock (smh… NYC), twigs, and pebbles without a hop or jump.
I wear a men’s size 10.5 sneakers and the deck doesn’t give me enough room to put one foot straight in front of the other. It’s about an inch short. So, I’m forced to tilt my back foot for my riding stance. If you wear a men’s size 10 or smaller, you may be able to ride one foot in front of the other, both facing straight.
I found the LED headlights and brake lights adequate for NYC streets, where they’re all lit up at night. Pedestrians and drivers could easily see me. There are no turn indicators on these lights though. Both wheels have reflectors on the side, so in case the lights fail, there’s that. I couldn’t find any real dark streets to test in my area. Turning on the lights in my pitch black apartment lit my living room up, but it’s no comparison for the real roads where you’ll want to see a few more yards out ahead of you.
Unfortunately, I’ve never had the chance to test the scooter out in rainy conditions. However, the scooter is rated IPX5. So it wasn’t rated for resistance against any solid objects or dust. The 5 liquid resistance rating means “Protected from low pressure water jets from any direction.” GoTrax’s website claims it can withstand up to mild rain, although riding on a wet surface is always a hazard due to the risk of slipping. You won’t be able to ride it during a downpour/storm since that’s probably more than the scooter’s water resistance can handle, and may end up damaging the electronics. Weather related issues with the scooter voids your warranty.
It's a decent scooter for short mileage commutes that looks great at a fair price. Just be aware of its shortcomings: non-replaceable battery; cannot roll for transporting while folded and 35 lbs may be still be too heavy to carry for some; a largely useless bag hook; no security features.
Spending a little more can get you a faster 20 mph scooter that handles longer distances per charge if 35 lbs is too heavy for you to carry so you were never going to anyway.
Spending a little less can get you a lighter scooter you can carry at the cost of a slower scooter.
It's all up to you.

SMOOTH COMMUTING

The GoTrax Xr Pro Commuting electric Scooter is quite decent for a commuting electric scooter. The 18-20 mile range should be enough to cover most short to medium-distance commutes without worrying about running out of battery. I used the electric scooter to complete several quick errands around town over a three-day period without charging it. The scooter was fast and agile. I weigh about 180 lbs. The max weight on this scooter is 264 lbs. I rode this scooter effortlessly up the small hills around my neighborhood. The 350w motor is the force behind this power. I hit the top speed of 18 mph several times by using the 2nd gear feature on GoTrax Xr Pro. I activated the cruise control by pressing the right-hand throttle down for 8 seconds while riding the scooter. To deactivate it, I pushed the throttle again, or I pressed the brakes handle lightly. The scooter has a preinstalled battery sporting 36V and 10.4Ah. I rode the scooter for approximately 13 miles in total before charging it. I found the scooter had excellent shock-absorbing capabilities, comfortable handlebars, and excellent pneumatic tires. The headlight and taillight, and reflectors are sufficient when riding at night. The braking was smooth. It all culminated in a smooth riding experience. The scooter weighs about 35 lbs and folds and opens easily. The construction material used on this scooter is hard plastic, rubber, and metal. The sturdy construction will withstand daily use and occasional bumps. However, riding this scooter in inclement weather is not recommended. Exposure to water may damage the electronics, which would void your warranty. This XR Pro electric scooter is great for those who want to avoid public transportation and have a total daily commute to under 20 miles. It is relatively lightweight and can fold easily into a corner. Its braking system is safe enough to handle the rigors of unpredictable cyclists and motorists. It is easy to operate, even for first-time users, and simple enough to let your friends try it out.
