The design helps to restrain the blow off of debris, but perhaps the 1900 psi unit this was paired to was simply unable to deliver sufficient pressure for effective cleaning. I was rather disappointed with the performance of this attachment on pavers when there was significant discoloration, particularly on the edges of the pavers. Although it was slower and messier, ultimately I found the 1900 psi wand paired with the 40% sweep nozzle to be more effective than this attachment at cleaning the margins of each paver.

There are many variables to giving the surface an even finish, for instance the actual pressure of the water impacting the surface changes if the washer is moved too quickly. This can cause some areas to clean more thoroughly than others, requiring you to perform additional passes. Walk slowly behind the flat surface cleaner, cleaning as you go.
