My iPad screen completely shattered when I dropped it from about 3 feet maybe 4 feet up. I would not buy this again and in fact I got a different product the next time. But I ended up having to get a new iPad.

Bought if for my daughter, she had it on her iPad and did protect it from a 2ft drop. Should have spent the extra cash for the ones I have on my other Apple products.

I've had my iPad for a month now. I bought this Survivor case the same day, as I carry my iPad everywhere I go and I know Murphy's Law all too well. I wanted something to protect the iPad from drops and bumps in daily use. I don't have young kids and I use it exclusively myself. I took the iPad out of the box and put it into the Survivor immediately, so it's never been without. I've had no problems with the Survivor at all, it gets the job done and doesnt inhibit function at all. You do have to pop open the rubber tabs that cover the audio jack or the rear-facing camera, but this only takes a moment. You can otherwise operate the volume or on/off buttons on the iPad easily. There's a clear film protector that covers the iPad's screen. This clear cover fits very well and you don't even know it's there, so doesn't inhibit the touch screen in any way. The rubber texture of the Survivor gives a positive grip on the device, so it's not as likely to slip out of your hands while carrying it. The little flip-out stand works OK, but not super sturdy, so you want it to be on a secure flat surface to avoid it tipping over. I rarely use the flip-out stand, so not an issue. The Survivor isn't exactly stylish, but it's very utilitarian for those of you who carry it everywhere you'll have the peace of mind that your iPad will weather the rigors of life.

This case works but I still prefer life proof or even otter box.. I would spend the extra $$ for the life proof or otter box instead of buying this case

This case adds the needed protection for the IPad 2. It does add significant weight, but I prefer the feel and weight of the case. If you like the light thin feeling of the iPad 2, this is not the case for you. The case did take some work to get it closed completely, but once it is closed it is very secure. The access flaps do not open easily, but they are not hard to open either. The case still allows the sound to come out even with the speaker flap closed. The screen protector still smudges some, but not even close to the iPad's screen. I feel very comfortable letting my 4 year old carry and play with the iPad, knowing that the Survivor case will protect it. Overall I rate this as a great investment.

I bought this case for my iPad 2 because it looked like it offered the most protection for my iPad. I just had to have it because my 2 year old nephew loves to play games and watch blue's clues and other kids shows on netflix lol. Anyway, he's dropped it more than a few times, spilled his chocolate milk on it, leaves the screen all sticky and full of grime. I grab a wipey and clean it up. good as new. After about 2 months of use, i took the iPad out of the case to see if it's taken any damage especially water damage. But nope, the iPad looks as good as it did the day i took it out of the box! The only con's to this case are that the access ports and camera take some time to open up and close back up when you need to use them. I rarely use the rear facing camera because its so cruddy anyway. Overall, i am definitely pleased with this case, my iPad and this case have survived the destruction of my 2 year old nephew lol. If you want excellent protection for your device and can bare with the added bulk and weight, get this today. You won't be dissappointed.

First of all I am a long time OtterBox consumer. That being said I was very disappointed with the otter defender case. Returned it the very same day. I watched the video from Griffin regarding the very strong Survivor Case. Went to my local Best Buy and picked one up. First of all the case is nearly the same thickness of the Otter. However it has the built in screen protector as the original defender case of the iphones. It is very well glued or plastic welded to the case. The inner hard plastic case snaps on very well around the Ipad2. The out side rubber case is much more dense the Otter. The flaps that cover all the ports close and stay closed un-like the otter defender for the ipad 2. The case is very flat on the front. Easy to use. The screen works great with the cover over it. The back side has a pattern on the case that makes holding it long ways or horizontal very easy. The corners are very padded and instantly give you the feel of quality and protection towards drops. I am a outdoors photographer and I feel very confident that the military specs on this case are accurate. The added value of being on average of ten dollars less then the Otter. It's a no brainer. Does it cover the rear camera? yes but the flap opens up. Does it cover the speaker at the bottom? yes but it opens up. Does it protect the charge port? yes and the cover is easy to access. The sound rockers are covered with a molded section and work very well. The landscape/mute slide is behind a flap. But tucks away nicely. This case was extremely well planned and manufactured. The stand that comes with it clips on the back and it's nice if you use them. Best advice prior to installing is to not touch the back of the clear screen protector. Wipe with a soft cloth the entire Ipad 2. Nothing worse then putting the case on all the way to realize one finger smudge. I am now searching for the IPhone 4 case from Griffin with the same specs.

When i get new electronics, i want to baby them and keep them in the best shape possible. This case has everything to keep your iPad safe and secure: screen protector, hard inner case, and soft outer case. The rubber outside makes it grip tabletops easily and the stand is pretty useful, althought it sometimes gets stuck when trying to pop it out. The way the rubber bumpers are engineered on the outside case make it very easy to hold on to. Great case. Vastly exceeded my expectations.

This was the only iPad case for my iPad that Best Buy had available. I bought it and put it on. My iPad moves around in it and it makes it hard to use the iPad, so I took it off and it's not being used. I would return it, if I had kept the box.

I was looking for a case to cover my older iPad retina. Otter box doesn’t make that case anymore and this was a good replacement or so it said. I tried to fit the case but it wouldn’t work.

I am a college student and I use my iPad for all of my books, scheduling, mobile internet, and media needs. I am also remarkably clumsy. So, I figured I would get a case that can stand up to being thrown in a backpack, set on a desk rather unceremoniously, chucked onto my bed at the end of a day, and yes, even dropped. I figured this Griffin case would be a good option, since I had one of their Survivor series cases on my iPod long ago and it withstood nearly every abuse I dealt it (until a wash cycle happened). Plus, it was cheaper than the comparable OtterBox case, and without the stupid "logo hole" on the back. Now then, for my day to day use. Getting the case on the iPad is not too difficult. Removing it, however, is a whole other story. It takes quite a bit of manhandling to remove the screen protector plastic piece. After that, the rest is easy, however. The case itself is very sturdy. I have dropped my iPad short distances (think, desk to ground, off my bed, on my face while reading at night...) and it has stood up well. It survives my backpack and my purse. It also survived being beat against a table by a 2 year old I once babysat, no marks to the case and no damage to my iPad. I'd say that's a win for the case. I appreciate the port covers. Since it does get thrown wherever I need it, no debris or anything gets into the electronics, and I don't have to worry about taking my iPad out in the rain. The case also has good grip. As I said, I am clumsy, so this has been nice for me to have a good hold on a $500+ electronic device. Now, for the downsides. As the title of my review suggests, the case is almost too sturdy. After a summer and half a semester of lugging this thing around, I've realized just how much bulk the case adds. Your .37 inch thick iPad becomes just about an inch thick. The case does add a bit of noticeable weight, as well. The screen protector does not fit 100% smoothly on the screen, and for me "bubbles" up near the top of the screen. This causes some reduction in the touch screen's sensitivity, which is especially noticeable when the tablet is oriented horizontal. The screen protector also traps a lot of dust, both in the edges around its plastic frame, and occasionally under the screen protector and against the screen. I have gotten used to cleaning the screen protector about once a month. This is kind of annoying. You will also experience some graininess from the front facing camera since the screen protector material also covers the camera. You can always cut it out with an Xacto knife if it bothers you enough. While I do appreciate the port covers, they can become quite annoying. Since I use my iPad to listen to music while traversing campus, I have to open and close the audio jack cover often. It is not overly easy to open, either, and for me requires me to press it in so it pops out instead. I also use my iPad as my alarm clock and so I have to open the speaker cover every night, or otherwise my alarm (even on full volume) is nearly inaudible. This one is easier to remove, however I question its durability. Some reviewers have noted their port covers have fallen off/broken away, and while this has not yet happened to me I fear it every time I open a port. The speaker cover also no longer closes flush to the rest of the case, but now buckles upwards just slightly. Aesthetically, it is not the prettiest case out there. That's ok for me. I purchased it for its usefulness, not to decorate my iPad. I wish the case was a bit more sleek versus the knobby, rugged look it has, but again. Function over form wins out here. The negatives of the construction of the case is the only reason I have rated this 4 stars instead of 5. Overall, the case has been a great purchase for me and I would definitely recommend it.

At first I was set on getting an otterbox defender for my iPad 2, but after some research I found the Griffin Survivor. For $10 less I get a case that is built to military specs ( drop from 6ft, water resistant, sand resistant, etc), complete covering of all ports, and a built in screen protector (otterbox does not have any of these). The case does take away from the thinness and the lightness of the iPad 2 but personally I like the weighted feel. The screen covering doesn't affect the responsiveness at all and the stand is very useful especially when laying down or typing on a table. The only complaints I have Is the rubber does smell weird, the covers to access the mic, speakers, and rear camera can be a little annoying, and finally the stand when placed on the opposite side does cover the volume down button but does not get in the way. Instead of pressing the button you have to press the stand. Overall I am very very pleases with the case to protect my investment. I love the case and the design. It feels and is very sturdy and will keep the iPad 2 safe.
