Rubber trim pulls off and is very hard to replace. Would have returned but passed the 15 days. Do not buy.

Bad reviews are for wrong version purchased

Product has received low scores for issues such as volume buttons not aligned properly and bubbly screen or play between screen cover and iPad. Make sure you buy the correct one, I found the one I purchased in a display mixed in with 1st generation iPad Air models Look for a sticker that says iPad Air 2 in bottom right hand corner of box. Salesman did not know difference between models as he tried to hand off a air 1 box to me. packaging looks identical between both air 1 and 2. All bad reviews make sense if you buy the wrong one. Don't be in a hurry! I found the right one and we are happy with it so far. There are no directions except pictures, luckily I have had experience with Griffin Survivor before (for iPod). Start by snapping iPad into the back part of case. Carefully snug rubber edge over this part of case on sides, clean screen with soft cloth, then snap screen protector on. Takes some time but worth it. Not as bulky as Otterbox, perhaps less protection, but perfect for kids. Trust me on this, if you are looking for this type of iPad case then this is the one. Bestbuy should give me some bonus rewards points for this review, because I know that I just saved a whole bunch of returns on this product.

    Good Protection, Bad Accessibility

The case itself is very protective, and the outer shell fits well. It has a nice material, and the stand works well. The problem with the case lies in the plastic over the screen. It's separated too far from the screen, so that when you try to type or do anything, it is hard and makes a loud noise. It feels like you have to tap far too hard to get the screen to respond which makes using the case for most things difficult. I bought mine earlier and I am currently returning it for those reasons.

I really like this case, it's built well, holds the iPad in nicely, and the screen protector fit perfectly with no issues. If it weren't for a couple of issues,I would not have returned the case. The two main issues that I have are that the fingerprint scan doesn't work due to the screen protector covering the button with silicone. The other main issue is that the autodim for the screen doesn't work either. I Feel like this was an oversight in production of this case with no hole for the sensor. The iPad is quite difficult to remove from the case and I found the best way was to pull the edge of the case away from it not necessarily the iPad itself. Overall, it is a well built case and if you don't need to use the fingerprint scanner or care to much about the auto dim screen, this case is for you. I hand my iPad over to customers and kids every day and have worries about something happening to it.

Received 1st one as a Christmas gift. It was hard to put on but managed to get the case on the new iPad air 2. Screen cover does not fit well. It bubbles up and it is EXTREMELY difficult to type or navigate around using touch screen (which is the only way I use it). Finally took it back, thought maybe just a defect and after browsing through my choices (not much out there) I thought well I'll get another one, really hoping the first one was defective. No such luck! Very hard to take off and the screen was the exact same way. Very disappointing, especially for 79.99 plus tax

Not for the faint of heart (READ BEFORE BUYING)

I bought this product for my Ipad Air 2, everything seemed fine, until I put the screen cover, which as many rewievers here noted, an air bubble bubble forma between the ipad screen and the protector, so it makes it unrensponsive, amd overal not cool, so yeah, I figured that was the end of my problems, that I could calmly remove the case, return it, and get another but, NOOO. Removing that case has been one of the greatest achievements of my life, I will put that in my curriculum from now on. It is that hard, do trust the other reviews that say the same, I almost thought I was gonna break the ipad just from removing the case, it was just stuck there, it was a miracle of life that I could free my IPad from such case. So, no, I wouldn't recommend this case, unless you love extreme sports and live life on the edge, and even so, I would tell you to reconsider.

    Terrible case and poorly designed

This is a terrible case and poorly designed. I have the survivor for the iPad 2 and finally upgraded my iPad to the Air 2. Being very happy with the original Griffin Survivor, I bought the survivor for the Air 2 and greatly regret it. Major problems: 1) Sound is muffled and distorted. Even though the case has ports for the speakers, it is misaligned (probably from tolerance issues) and covers the speakers. It sounds like I'm listening to everything through a plastic bag. When I tug on it slightly, it sounds much better but won't stay in place and becomes muffled again when I release the pressure from the speaker end. 2) having this issue, I decide to remove the case only to find I can't. After 30 minutes of "prying" according to the directions, my thumbs are bleeding and I'm giving up to avoid damage to my new iPad. There is obvious pressure to the screen when you try as you get those liquid lcd marks when then screen starts bending. My brand new iPad is permanently stuck in this stupid case. I can't remove my iPad from this case! This is a cell version too so it doesn't look like I can get to my SIM card anymore. Yes, I've already reviewed Giffin's official video of installing their iPad air case as they mentioned in the other comment. I can't remove the darned thing without breaking my iPad. Give me back my iPad!

Frame is silicone and kickstand difficult to open

    Posted .

I just got my Survivor case with the small plastic kickstand on the backcover yesterday....to replace another Survivor case that had a worse kickstand. I read a lot. I need a case that is sturdy, can withstand a small drop and has a sturdy stand so that I can read with book standing up rather than iPad air 2 flat on lap or other flat surface. This item does stand up better than the other Survivor model. It's just fine on a tabletop. However, it only has one position other than flat. So there is no flexibility. Also, the stand doesn't hold stable on my lap and is rather difficult to pop out of the back. I'm afraid I'll break it. So, the overall design feels flimsy....including the silicone frame and plastic cover. Thumb touch isn't possible, from what I can tell. In comparison, as an avid reader, I used to have the Targus reversible case which was awesome....except it doesn't protect iPad from dropping.....the glass shatters. (Hence, new iPad air 2). If using iPad totally flat....or standing on a hard surface in one position, then this is a good alternative for a case for iPad air 2. I'll continue looking elsewhere for something that works better for my needs. Good luck!

Bought 2 of these & will be returning them ASAP

I have used the previous model of the Griffin Survivor case for years at my workplace. I also liked the old model enough to buy them to protect my children's previous iPads at home. This new model for the iPad air 2 is quite a disappointment. I bought one blue and one purple/lavender for my children's new iPad air 2. The blue one fit well enough that the iPad could be inserted and the case snapped together without any hassle. The problem with the blue one is that there is a gap between the screen and the screen protector. The device is usable with the screen protector above the screen if you push a little harder but I don't want to downgrade a great device with an out of spec case. The purple/lavender colored case of this model we received is much worse. It was so out of specification that excessive pressure and a lot of effort had to be used to get the iPad inserted. This purple case fits so poorly that the power button does not align properly and it also has a gap between the screen and the screen protector. By the positive reviews its apparent that some people have gotten a good batch of these. The 2 I bought I wouldn't use even if they were free.

    Poor Fitment, Terrible Screen Protector

No instructions in the package, docked a point. The fitment was TERRIBLE as in it was too tight, I felt like I was going to break the brand new ipad going in and removing it. Docked another two points. The screen protector was terrible. It didn't touch the screen at all (I'm assuming this was due to the bubble issues they had before) and so it made a popping noise every time you would touch. Docked another point. I wouldn't recommend this at all.

Great rugged "SLIM" case. Beat life proof to the market. Granted it is not waterproof but it does the job very well. Also there is a difference between waterproof and water resistant.
