I've been reading Marvel's comics for over 30 years now, and picked up on Guardians of the Galaxy when it was relaunched a decade or so ago as a contemporary cosmic comic (as opposed to the original, which was set in the far-flung future). And although I've found the comic to be entertainingly offbeat, I scoffed when I heard the announcement that it would be adapted into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I should have known better than to doubt. This is one of the tightest and most entertaining entries in the MCU - up there with the first Iron Man and Avengers movies in terms of self-contained story, entertainment value, and openness to folks who haven't been steeped deeply in the comics. I'm happy to own this on shiny discs and I'm looking forward to the sequel.

Yet another awesome movie from Marvel. Not sure if there is any more one can mention to add to all of the accolades that have been bestowed to this blockbuster. If you still haven't seen it, then you should stop what you are doing and get your hands on a copy right now (virtual or otherwise). Bonus features on this disc are a bit more generous opposed to the recent spate of Disney released Marvel films but anemic compared to the older Paramount releases. I'm sure there will be another boxed set collecting this phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that will correct this shortcoming with a far more copious set of supplements for Iron Man 3, The Dark World, The Winter Soldier and Guardians. Unfortunately, the only way to view the IMAX version is in 3D.

I'm a huge Sci Fi geek, and a huge Marvel comics fan. When I saw Thanos at the end of Avengers, I thought I had died and gone to heaven. Or, at least, had slipped into a coma and was busy enjoying an impossible fever dream. Then they announced that a Guardians of the Galaxy movie was coming. This (and Nova) had been one of my favourite comics UP UNTIL IT GOT CANCELLED (and Nova). If you like GotG the movie, go pick up a copy of the Marvel Comics Mini-Series ANNIHILATION. The movie had a different tone than the book, but it was fantastic. So... not only did they put Thanos in a billion dollar movie, they made a movie out an obscure/favourite comic of mine. It's good. And it's the best reviewed/highest grossing film of the year. Yep. I'm in a coma.

The movie is really good as you should know by know, but my review is for the steelbook packaging. I thought this steelbook was only going to be a FutureShop exclusive, but found out it was going to be a Best Buy exclusive here in the states. The design is awesome, different than any steelbook that I have seen. The lettering & outline of the cassette is embossed & really nice looking, plus it has artwork on the inside as well. This steelbook was so popular, it was sold out within the first hour at all the Best Buy locations in my area. I got to my nearest Best Buy store about 10 minutes after they opened & there were only 6 steelbooks left!!! I later found out that they were sold out online & at all locations in my area. I am glad I got one!!!

I've been collecting all Marvel movies on 4K and stumbled upon this one in store so I bought it and watched it at home, and let me just say, this movie looks gorgeous in 4K. The colors, the clarity, it's like seeing it in theaters all over again. Normally, Disney puts out low quality audio on their disc's but this one sounded really good on my surround sound Klipsch system with a good amount of bass and dynamic range. Pick this up. You won't regret it, especially if you have a 4K TV and a sound system. Highly recommend it.

This is the introduction to the Guardians of the Galaxy series within the Marvel Comic Universe. It very entertaining with a great plot, hilarious characters and lots of action. This is one of the best movies in the MCU. Though each of the characters have their own interests, they save the best for each other. They form a group that stands against the evil Kree empire. Through twists and turns throughout the plot, these misfits, fit in, to save the Galaxy. A great movie not to be missed.

First I should be upfront and say I bought this as a gift for a friend. I have GotG on BluRay, so my review is simple: Buy this movie in whatever format you have. This is not the best superhero film (although it is up there with the best), BUT it is the funniest. I typically like my comic book superhero movies to reflect the comic book titles the come from (Batman to be dark, Spider-man to have the struggle between being Peter Parker and Spider-Man, X-Men to have the struggle for equality in society), but to be honest I never read GotG and so I cannot say how close it is to the source material. It is, however, the most fun I had at the movie theater last year. The cast was great, the dialogue was funny, the special effects were solid.

disney studios does it once more bringing an Epic Marvel film on the big screen. First let me say for a couple of heroes most people did not know well in the Marvel Universe or heard of very little, they were able to make the Guardians of the Galaxy a known movie to everyone including those like myself who never read about these heroes or heard of because of the more stand out and popular heroes in the Marvel world such as the Avengers. Love the film, Star Lord was awesome I really like his character, two thumbs up for Rocket Racoon one of my favorite, dead played by Batista was surprisingly good, and the green chick Gamora nice and who can forget Groot hilarious. awesome film loved it and so will you if you missed it out in theaters.

This movie brought the comedy to marvel and set a great tone for the next phase of movies. Well done and great to watch with kids.

Not the most good looking steels this series, but being all in the same style makes them look nice when they are all put together.

I love this movie, and the case looks good. 2 issues I have are not reflected on my review. 1. It would have been nice to have the DVD included as well. 2. Best Buy needs to set a limit per customer. I was there at the opening of the store in line with many other people. Most of whom wanted the movie for their collection or as a gift. There was a couple people towards the front of the line who ran inside and grabbed all that were available on the shelf (about 5 each). Luckily, there were more available in the back, and I did get my copy. I have seen previous steel books sell out, then become available on line. This forces people who want it for their collection and such to have to pay almost double for it. Please remedy this!!

I was looking forward to seeing this film the minute it was announced. Yes, I said film. This is not a typical comic book "movie" to pass the time. Everything in this beautiful work of art is perfect and it whole-heartedly deserves the killer packaging of Star Lord's Walkman. It has all of the intangibles one would expect from a Marvel movie but it doesn't play like one. It's just better. A self-aware multi-dimensional sci-fi/action rock opera with substance and the best cast of the year as well. Look, I can go on forever about how this film should be the catalyst of how future Marvel flicks should be made but there is only so much space. Please watch this film and you'll find yourself glued to the screen for 2 hours.

I loved looking through comic books as a young kid especially the Super hero ones but never got into the whole back story of each. But always was fascinated with the art and wished movies would one day make realistic and cool films of those comic book hero's I liked. GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY took that idea and blew my brains out. All the actors were perfect in their roles especially CHRIS PRATT as the lead, Starlord (Quill). This is a great time for comic book lovers as movie technology has caught up and these films look so realistic and the writing is great and I love the whole Marvel Cinematic Universe continuity. I totally recommend this to everyone. ..whether super hero freak or not. Great fun!

I first watched "Guardians of the Galaxy" in the movie theaters. I learned it was adopted from a comic book, but I had never heard of it up until then. Going in I didn't know what to expect. Fortunately I enjoyed the movie and decided then and there that I would pick up the blu-ray. Fast forward 6 mos, and Christmas just around the corner, I figured I'd treat myself to an early Christmas present. The extra features provided an insighhtful view of what the director had envisioned for the movie. After watching the movie on blu-ray, then watching the bonus features, it made me want to watch "Guardians" a second time and look for the details that were mentioned in the extras. It was definitely a good purchase. Cheers!

Not much to say besides I love the fact that Best Buy, along with Marvel has been allowing exclusive steelbooks. There has been a caveat, though. My only issue with the Steelbooks is that Best Buy had a limited supply and allowed people to purchase more than 1, for the non-preorders, which led to an inflation in price online where scalpers drove the price up from $19.99 up to $50+. Best Buy rectified this by restocking the item a week after they came out, but for those who were unable to get it in store or preorder, they were left waiting a week or more, and had to deal with the price not being a sale anymore and paying $29.99. I noticed a day or two later, it went out of stock and when it was restocked for the 3rd time, has been set at $34.99, where it has stayed since the 17th of December. All in all, I kept my review at 4 stars because it is an excellent item, despite the inventory hiccup, but wished they kept an adequate stock as supplies for Thor: The Dark World, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier suffered similar issues. I just hope they learned their lesson and avoid it in the near future, as I know it drove other consumers elsewhere.

If you are bored with superhero and comic book movies this one is the one to watch to regain your faith. Guardians of The Galaxy is more obscure than the other of Marvel properties but this movie has changed that. It is fun for the whole family. It has characters played by and voiced by people from all different walks of pop culture. The soundtrack is a fun mix of 70s and early 80s music that goes hand in hand to paint an impression in your mind. Talking Racoons, a Tree Bodyguard, Crazy Mercenaries, A man child who becomes an unlikely hero. This movie is fun and rivals the Avengers for best use of Superheroes as a group or on the comic book movie industry as a whole. I highly recommend anyone see this movie.

I grew up with Marvel Comics, so I'm glad to see them on the big screen with finally the right treatment (Iron Man series, Thor, the Avengers, Fantastic Four, and especially Captain America). But, on the other hand, an number of their 'non-mainstream' characters were ignored, even though they add to the overall complexion of the 'Marvel Universe'. This movie helps correct that oversight; while entertaining in it's own right (how many emotions can Vin Diesel put into "I Am Groot!", anyway??), a Marvel fan will see links to the 'rest of the story' (sorry, no spoilers...). Overall, I was very entertained by both the movie and the extra features - the 'gag reel' is a definite hoot. Buy it - you'll like it...

If you like "Marvel superhero" movies, you'll love this movie. Steelbook case was a very nice addition to my collection

I'm not sure if I need to provide an actual review of the movie, as you can find that anywhere else on the web (it was pretty awesome and well worth the purchase, if that's worth anything). However, reviewing my experience purchasing this Blu-ray at Best Buy might be of more service... My local Best Buy was well-stocked with this movie, the location was very easy to find with a quick left-to-right scan of the store, paying at the teller was a pleasure, and the store's price is competitive with all the other places selling the same product. So if you're the person that wants to physically get a DVD in-store, Best Buy is the place to go. I have yet to find a new or hot release that isn't available.

I wasn't a fan right off the bat but, it does tie into the Marvel movies and the comedy aspect of it was good. Worth the buy.
