A must have for any fan of Marvel films, especially those with a lighter tone! I love the steelbook texture and artwork.

This movie transcends its genre by being a lot more than a comic-book/sci-fi space opera. I know that first sentence sounds like a load of hogwash but James Gunn, Chris Pratt and the creative team responsible for this film have made a film that, even without a previously installed fan base (like The X-Men or Batman for example) absolutely dominated the summer box offices in 2014. The story telling here makes the audience care about the film's character's and though that's half the battle, the film delivers in action, comedy and special effects as well. Great stuff and deserving of a place on your shelf- especially as Best Buy's exclusive SteelBook edition modeled to look like Star Lord's Walkman.

I generally like Marvel movies, but I knew nothing about Guardians of the Galaxy until I saw it in theaters. In fact, I wasn't sure I wanted to go see it, but I was dragged along anyways. It surprised me a lot as I actually enjoyed it immensely, despite many WTF moments. It is, to me, a more light-hearted Marvel movie that doesn't take itself seriously at all, which made it refreshing. You don't need to know anything about the GOTG to enjoy this movie. It is like the polar opposite of, say Nolan's Batman movies (DC not Marvel, I know), in terms of tone. The Blu-Ray doesn't disappoint. It has a lot of nice extra features, which I actually like watching in general. Just needs more Groot!

Guardians of the Galaxy is fun the way comic book movies should be fun. I would compare it with the best of Star Wars: it has all the heart and character of the original trilogy, and all the special effects and spectacle of the prequel trilogy. All the characters are outstanding, but I particularly loved Star Lord (Chris Pratt nails the mixture of brash and goofy) and Yondu (Michael Rooker) and their scenes together. If you liked The Avengers, you'll like this (the tone is similar, though GotG probably has a little more humor). If you like fun, action-y science fiction, you'll probably enjoy this, too. The Marvel movies are really on a roll of late, and I can't wait to see what's next!

This movie caught me by surprise. I saw the previews and thought to myself "that looks odd, not sure if I'll see that at all'. I did some looking and found that the Guardians of the Galaxy had a good story line born long ago in Marvel history. I saw the movie in theaters because of this and some recommendations from friends and I was not disappointed at all. The blu ray is a great example of quality production. The video performance is sometimes dark but always vivid, colorful, and sharp. The lossless DTS MA 7.1 soundtrack is one of my favorites for 2014 releases by far. I should have known that this would be a great movie from the Marvel pedigree alone - I will not doubt it next time.

When the trailer for this movie came out, I was soooooo expecting Marvel's first flop. Only saw it cause it was at the drive-thru along with another movie that I wanted to see. BELIEVE the hype - this is most everybody's favorite movie of 2014! Do you remember how it felt seeing Star Wars IV for the first time? Or Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark? Marvel brings that feeling back to all the 80s kids, and is just awesome fun for everyone else. I can't comment on the 3D, as I have no interest in the technology - apparently certain movies' combo packs only option is 3D if you want Blu-Ray... but that's another discussion for another post. You'll love this movie in any format :)

This might not be everyone's cup of team, but this is my second copy, just because they did a steelbook with the Star Wars-inspired artwork. This movie brought two things to the Marvel universe that were greatly missing: - The concept of family and the family you find along the way - A catchy soundtrack that perfectly matches the movie and relates to the main character The story is great, and Easter Eggs are everywhere. The characters are deep and the story feels like jumping through the looking-glass...if it were in outer-space.

Not only is the metal case a wondrous object in its own right, but contained inside is one of the most entertaining films to be released to the multiplex this year! But wait, there's more. No longer bound by a mere 2-dimensions (though this is an option as well), this move bursts forth in a full three dimensions! Yes, you read that correctly. Three! Not only is the movie full of third dimensional shenanigans, but the steelbook itself also exists in the 3rd dimension, giving it not just length and width, but also height as well! Make your friends jealous and make your enemies even jealouser and make your ex even jealouserer by showing them how awesome your Guardians 3D steelbook is!

This is a really fun movie that does not take it's self at all seriously. I had already seen this film and enjoyed it on Blu ray. With the release of the sequel "Gaurdians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" I decided to go back and watch this one again. When I discovered that my Best Buy had the 3D Blu Ray in stock I bought that version. The 3D is very effective and the folks who put the Blu Ray together used screen format changes to great effect (the film switches between letterbox and full screen, occasionally utilizing the black bar areas for some of the 3D effects). If you own a 3D TV, this is a good film to watch on it.

Guardians of the Galaxy is a fun twist on the Marvel super hero platform. While the story is told in much more of a comic-book style than Iron Man or The Avengers with over-the-top characters, improbably situations and lots of humor and tongue-in-cheek dialog, don't think that his isn't a well-made film. Great action scenes, top-notch special effects, awesome sound and a huge variety of characters to enjoy. The "music mix" is a terrific part of the tale and many scenes will have you laughing out loud. I enjoyed this film much more than I thought I would. Highly-recommended. A few moments of dialog you may not want your kids to hear but, other than that, pretty family-friendly.

Very well made movie. I'm glad Marvel gave an unknown franchise a chance to shine on screen. I will say although I am a big Marvel fan and read a lot of their comics back in the day, I did not read Guardians of the Galaxy. I knew of them, but I was more of an X-Men reader personally. In any case, like the Avengers, this movie blends a good mix of comedy, action and pretty good story to further advance the idea of a unified story-line between Thanos and the other major players in the universe. There's already enough written about the movie to know pretty much everything in it, but I'm just giving my two cents in saying this is a well-made, funny and enjoyable movie. ENJOY!

This has a good upgrade but not the best of the other MCU movies. Also, it finishes my MCU steel book collection.

Definitely recommended for any Marvel fan, the 4k disc looks pretty good but it could've been a little better

Glad that this film finally came out on 4k with a steelbook to add to the collection. Great 4k audio and video.

Like the other catalog Marvel 4K releases; it's good but won't blow you away. Maybe pick it up if it's on sale.

I first saw it in the theater, being a Marvel fan from earlier times I'd not had the privilege of reading this series. I enjoyed it however my real enjoyment started after I saw it for the second time of all places on a plane. It hit me how much I missed the first time, and just how fun and lighthearted the movie actually is while providing all the other great fun SciFi movies offer the viewer. Buying the Blu-Ray allowed me the ability to see it as many times I wanted without paying over and over again like streaming services charge. Good gag reel, interesting items deleted I thought would have been positive adds to the movie, all in all, well worth the price.

I was a little skeptical about this movie. It featured a little known comic team and a director that has mostly a cult following. I figured I would enjoy it, but that I would be in the minority. James Gunn was able to really make these bunch of misfits quite loveable for the masses. The story is excellent and unique, and helps to flesh out the infinity gauntlet story line that I am sure is coming. The steelbook packaging is fantastic. I love that it looks like a giant walkman! My son has not developed a way to destroy these steelbooks, which is nice. Many of our marvel DVDs/Blu-rays are in semi-broken pastic cases, but this one has held up well from his abuse.

For a lesser known Marvel comic, I thought this was a great movie. Definitely in the top 5 best Marvel movies.

Definitely one of the best movies of 2014, I have seen it 3 times and it is still as funny as when I saw it the first time, Many may complain because the jokes are very 80's , and if you didn't grow up during that time it might be hard to understand why these things are funny, don't be put off those few people this movie is a definite must. It has all that a good needs, a solid plot, great action, and very likable character with the added bonus of tons of Easter eggs hidden throughout the movie that will keep comic fans and people that grew up in the 80's hunting for a long time. This movie gets a solid A+ from me for good clean family fun and a must own.

This steelbook was received without any damage. I had not previously owned this movie and saw the steelbook was on sale. I ordered many of the marvel steelbook during the sale and 2 of them came damaged. Unfortunately this was one of them and I had to exchange it. I didn't notice the spine was damaged until after removing the shrink wrap. You can only exchange the item afterwards if you removed the shrink wrap at best buys that have it in store. They will not accept a return and order one to the store for you.
