Yes, it's one of THOSE steelbook editions. YES, it's a collector's item. Is it worth your purchase? Depends on who you are. You will be sorely disappointed if you buy this expecting the actual "Awesome Mix Vol. 1." I should note the soundtrack is MUCH cheaper. If you were however expecting an AWESOME movie with the AWESOME case, then you've bought the right item. Please note, that there is the 3D version with this edition, so if you do have a 3D rig of some kind - and I am among the believers still out there - then this edition is DEFINITELY for you. What helps this 3D version is that the IMAX version was ported over as well. "What good is that" you may ask? Think TRON: Legacy good (in terms of IMAX 3D). There are a fair amount of special features, but the commentary is one for the books. If you want the basics, get the other edition. If you want something special because you like the movie "that much," look no further.

I saw this movie in the theaters SIX times. Hands down the best movie of 2014. What else can be said about a movie where the hero challenges the villain to a dance off? A Hero named Kevin Bacon.......LOL Dancing Groot. The music....perfect soundtrack. Perfect movie....period. This is a MUST OWN.

The movie itself is great. I went into the theater with no or low expectations (knowing nothing about the team or its history) and was very pleasantly surprised . I was laughing throughout the movie, it had all the right elements; it had plenty of the funny funny as well as some heartwarming moments. As for the steelbook itself, I'm thoroughly impressed. It's a solid case and I love the cassette player look, it totally fits in with the fun tone of the movie. I'm glad I preordered this because when I went to try and pick one up on release day they sold out in a manner of minutes of the store opening. It's back in stock now so if you can, definitely pick this one up. It's a fun steelbook to have.

I loved, loved, loved this movie. I saw it in theaters, not knowing what to expect because this isn't your typical comic book movie for those who aren't comic book readers like myself. I enjoyed it from beginning to end. My only disappointment is on the part of Best Buy, and their handling of this steelbook version. I showed up when the doors opened on release day, and magically there weren't any available. They were sold out online, but magically they were all over eBay. I was able to finally get my hands on a copy a couple of weeks later from BB, but the whole release was botched. I haven't even opened my copy in hopes that it will be worth something one day, haha. If you're a steelbook fan you'll know what I'm talking about because this wouldn't be the last time Best Buy has had this happen with these Only @ Best Buy steelbook versions.

Initially, I wasn't interested in seeing this movie in theaters. It didn't seem like it had a lot of pre-release hype. And to be honest, I didn't think an action movie that included a talking racoon could be that good. I mean, really, name one movie that features a talking animal that you'd pay ~$14 to see in a movie theater. Then, I started hearing how good this movie was from friends. So based on the good reviews that I heard, in addition to this being a Marvel movie (I love Marvel movies), I decided to go see it. I'm so glad I did! Without giving a full movie review, this was the best movie that I've seen all year, and quite possibly the best movie I've seen in the past few years. Needless to say, when this movie was released on Blu-Ray, I had to get it. If you like solid sci-fi action movies and/or you enjoy Marvel movies, I highly recommend this movie.

This movie is precisely the reason people still like to go to the Big Screen! It's a great movie for all ages filled with imagination, great characters and a great music score! Bravo Marvel. There's still hope for the movie industry!

I have been waiting for this since the movie was released. I was concerned that it would not come with the 3D, but my fears were unfounded. This is a must have if you collect the steel books. Nice Job Bestbuy!

Having my undergrad degree in Film, I naturally am very critical of all films I see. This is not the place to go into the finer points of the film, but needless to say, this is one of the best comedies of 2014. Not having read the comic series, I was somewhat hesitant going into this film (a Raccoon as a Superhero?!?). The genius of this film is the balance between satire and the traditional superhero genre. Whether you are simply looking to be entertained for a couple of hours or are looking at analyzing the witty writing and subtext, this film is sure to please.

I know almost everyone adores this movie, which makes me shake my head in disbelief. But first, to the steelbook. It's a great steelbook. Unique to North America and so desireable for collectors. That combined with an almost religious fervor for ANYTHING that Marvel releases makes this hot; extremely HOT. The opening week price for a steelbook of any 3D movie was a steal. Within a day of release this was sold out nationwide and was selling on the popular auction site at high prices. So if you were lucky enough to preorder or pick this up on opening day, congratulations. If you bought to resell, shame on you. As I said, a great steelbook; but the movie? It's utter garbage! Seems people will see anything if you slap Marvel's name in front of it... The script and plot are both so stupid I'd suggest putting them to one side and simply filming LOTS of action sequences with LOTS of CGI. Oh and don't forget some Z list tunes from the past that you can buy the rights to for next to nothing. Once the movie starts, turn your brain all the way off, close to brain death, and then shovel popcorn into your mouth. It's the only way to enjoy it.

I just got back from my local BB store, 45 minutes before they open. First, it was just me and one guy. Ten minutes before it open, there was about thirty or so already waiting. Once they opened the door, everybody knows where to go, to get the BB Exclusive Guardians of the Galaxy Steelbook packaging edition. It was sold out not even a minute. That is how good this movie is, not just the movie itself, but the collector's packaging is so right on. I highly suggest you take your break from work, and go to your nearest BB, and I hope they still have one for you.

This is a good family movie some words and crude humor but funny and action packed

This steel book looks even better in hand than it does in pictures! Not sure why they stuck the annoying border-art insert, but it's completely removable, leaving a plain looking walkman design that looks brilliant on your shelf. I kind of wish they kept the title of the movie off of the face, too, as a generic walkman would have been much more interesting. The fake buttons on the spine was a nice touch, as well. Oh, and the movie is pretty decent, as well. :D If you liked Guardians, this is definitely the coolest version to get!

whenever I get a chance to own these metal cased special editions its a must ! Exclusive art work and of course limited amount of inv. And great movie !

Quite possibly the best movie of the year (Capt. America: Winter Soldier being just a smidge better). And this case is perfect. I don't normally get into the whole Metal Case thing, they're cool, but not a make or break deal for a purchase. This one however, just rocks. It looks very much like the cassette player in the movie (a big part of the story as you watch the movie) and even has worn bits with scratches as if it were used daily. Highly recommend both the movie and this case.

We opted to buy the Steelbook version of this great movie. I love it. It looks like a cassette tape and keeps the contents inside well protected. It's really beautiful and well-made. This is my son's favorite movie and I really loved it too. Great character development, story, effects, and a great soundtrack to boot. I'm excited for the sequel as I love 80s music and I believe the sequel will feature some of our favorite 80s hits.

Guardians of the Galaxy is a great introduction to a whole new sector of the Marvel universe. Even if you do not know anything about the comics that it is based on, you will have a great time with this blu-ray movie. It is just great fun, but it also has heart, too. Technically, the effects are first rate and you can really see all the detail on this HD transfer. The sound design is over the top as well. Five stars, a great fun space movie!

In recent memory, this is by far one of the better less known comic series adapted for film. A great cast of actors for the characters presented, with a surprisingly fun and engaging story. The basic Bluray edition gets the job done. Great package over all, with amazing cover art on the slip jacket to boot. I would definitely recommend this to anyone, especially fans of 'Hero' and/or comic-film adaptations.

The editing and directing made it very enjoyable to watch. It mixed the humor, drama and action together very well. Along with fine performances from the cast and an engaging story, this was one of the best films of the year, imo. The best part was the soundtrack, absolutely terrific.

Even though I am a DC comics fan, I have to tip my hat to Marvel for creating the best comic book movies in motion picture history. Guardians of the Galaxy is no exception. It has humor, non-gory violence, great music and a story line that will continue into its sequel. I even was able to get my wife, who is more of a romantic movie enthusiast, to watch with me, and she even liked it (even though she would not admit it).

This is a great movie. It brings together the superhero vibe of other Marvel Studios fare and the space opera of Star Wars or the JJ Abrams Star Trek films. It is lighthearted and fun throughout and has incredibly likable characters. This particular edition has great packaging for any serious fan, and the 3D on this movie is worth the extra cost if you have the right equipment. Definitely my favorite of the year.
