Long time turbotax user. Figured I'd give H&R a try. Less money and good reviews. I had some unique tax issues this year and this software did not make me comfortable handling them. Ended up at an accountant. Probably would have been OK for basic return.

Needed software to handle more complicated taxes this year. App saved time in that I didn't need to do all the sub-schedules, but there was a lot of input and it was not completely intuitive. Not sure whether will use it next year or try another.

Not very straightforward to calculate ISO, RSU stock transactions. Ended up going to Tax professional and found that I also incorrectly overpaid 2015 taxes costing me much more that what I thought this software was going to save me. SW is ok for simpler taxes with simple capital gains transactions. It also did not handle HSA contribution overpayment correctly. I had to manually override it. Gave up and paid someone to do my taxes this year. BTW: I also used TurboTax Online as a comparison. There was over $5k difference in how the two programs calculated the taxes based on the same input. We will see which one was more correct after i get my docs back from tax guy.

I have used this product, successfully, for the past several years. It's fairly straight forward and relatively easy to use. My returns were not complicated so I didn't have to rely on the less-than-user-friendly help menu.

There seems to be a flaw wherein you add some state of MN information and it doesn't calculate correctly, causing a potential consequence. I guess we'll see. Nobody was available to answer me online at the time.

Software works good on the basics, but if you have anything out of the ordinary, it fails to process it properly. Support was terrible.

I never used it. I used Turbo tax seems like Turbo tax is more complete, comprehensive and easier to use. I ended up using the free Turbo tax version
