What an incredible story about a true American hero!

I got this for a gift for someone and they loved it.

Truly one of the great war stories about a true hero.

Based upon true events, this feature movie reveals the powerful story about Hacksaw Ridge and a young man named Desmond Doss who wants to do his part in the war, but doesn't want to carry a gun. His troup is baffled by his refusal to fight, after all, they are at war. They ridicule him and beat him up, but Doss doesn't give in to their mistreatment of him. The events take a turn in Doss' favor when a captain's attempt to have him dishonorably discharged are thwarted when his father obtains a letter from a higher ranking officer to support his son's constitutional right not to bare arms. Doss wins and is able to serve as a medic during WWII to save lives even though he is a conscientious objector. Despite the dangers, Doss saves seventy five of his troup, asking God to "Please let me save one more" repeatedly.

Violent, but true heroism often shines in difficulty.

I dislike most war movies, having said that, I enjoyed this one. Very good story line with a touch of romance for the female audience, and good acting. Don't tell my husband!

Where do I start? This film delivers a great feeling of patriotism, and bravery represented by Desmond Doss. The actor who's playing Desmond Doss, Andrew Garfield, does a fairly good job, and its clear this role was made for him. The screenplay, being based on a true fact, had a good impact on this viewer, but of course not all true facts are easily contoured to intrigue the viewer. However, Robert Schenkkan and Andrew Knight do a good job shaping it. Camera performance was above my expectations, most of the scenes were great filmed delivering a great look of the events. Actor performance was good, every character having a good personality structure. The sound editing was exceptional, visual effects were good. Conclusion: A great movie with a great screenplay.
