I do enjoy war movies and this one is right up there with my favorites. A different story than a usual picture. I was happy to learn the Desmond Doss story and the amazing thing he did on that island. At the end when they are rolling credits, they show the real Doss in a short interview. He stated the same thing that one of the "Band of Brothers" said in that mini-series - that in his town there were a few young men who committed suicide because they couldn't go and fight. Amazing time and people. The video and audio are top-notch.

Hacksaw Ridge is a feel-good movie based on a true story. It tries to find a balance between romance, drama, and action and does a fine job at it. While it has a feel-good storyline, the movie has some pretty intense and gory scenes so it's not for everybody. As for the 4K/UHD/HDR aspect of the blu-ray disc, the visuals looked nice on my LG OLED65C6P. I don't remember watching it and being absolutely blown away by the colors and details (e.g. Planet Earth II and The Revenant) but it's probably because all of the war scenes take place in a muggy, dark location. Nothing wrong at all with that as it's probably how the director intended it to be. But if you're looking to "show off" your new 4K TV with HDR, it may not be the first disc you pull out. As for the audio, it was impressive. I felt immersed in the battle with all of the explosions and gunshots taking place. I don't have a Dolby Atmos setup yet so I cannot comment first hand on it but I did read great things about Dolby Atmos soundtrack for this movie. Can't wait to watch it again once I have mine up and running.

Great movie from director Mel Gibson. Filmed in Australia with a mostly Australian cast. Based on the true story of a U.S. soldier who saved 300 injured soldiers fighting the Japanese Imperial army on Okinawa island. 4K UHD impress with sharp Dolby Vision video with clear audio & graphic war scenes. Great story, worth multiple viewings. Highly recommended!

Good movie. Shows humans nature at its best and its weakest... Overall a good one time watch.

Was blown away by this movie in 4K its a great addition to any 4K collection. The shots are crisp and clear, sound is almost perfect and gun shots and explosions make you feel like you're at battle for real. Lucked out and picked this one up on sale for $20. Great action packed movie in 4K!

Used this movie to teach how one can serve in the military and still keep personal morals.

This is a powerful movie of faith and courage! Wonderful writing, direction, and acting! Andrew Garfield delivers a wonderful performance playing Desmond Doss, a nonviolent man of faith who serves in WW2 as an Army medic in the Pacific. Because he refuses to carry a weapon he is treated horribly by fellow army recruits. He is almost kicked out of the Army, but is saved at the last moment. In combat he saves 75 fellow soldiers by lowering them down Hacksaw Ridge. You will appreciate this film in the end!

I liked this movie, but I feel that they played up the "hero" a little too much.

I watched it twice and partially a 3rd time with my wife, who is from Okinawa. We have been in the caves on Okinawa that were shown in this documentary in 1978. They are preserved for tourist visits today. Amazing story about a Virginian native from the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains area of Virginia, that volunteered for a nation in need. A medic that saved over 100 American Army soldiers, as well as Japanese enemy soldiers, during one of the last major battles on Okinawa. It is a must to see.

The movie was a sleeper in the theaters, but packed a huge punch. Especially in 4k!

This was one movie that was so explicit on war it made saving private Ryan look like a picnic. Mel Gibson once again proves he can direct a great movie. The story is based on a true story which I'm sure there are many untold stories but this is one of conscientious objector who wanted to serve his country but not as one who would carry a gun. He was a guy interested in serving as a medical corp doctor in the field. Very good story that needed to be told that one can serve without taking up a weapon.

I absolutely LOVED this movie. It started out a bit slow but once it got going, it was a heck of a ride. I think that Mel Gibson is a genius. An incredible director, actor, etc., etc.. I also believe that stories like this NEED to be told. I find it almost inconceivable that any human being could do what Desmond Doss accomplished. BUT, there were dozens of eyewitness'. My hat is off to this truly amazing man and to ALL of the other veterans who have served our nation for generations. Thank you!!

I was very skeptical about this movie considering the theme involved.(soldier in war who wont use or even carry a gun) however i discovered that its based off of a true story. so before too long I found myself gripped by all of the true brutality of the special effects. I felt like I was right there on the battle field with them... definitely a worthy addition to any war movie collection. Mel Gibson directed this movie and his son is also in it. Mel is a freaking GENIUS!!!

Definitely a good movie to see. Hard to believe that it is based on true story.

This movie didn't get much recognition, but trust me it is a masterpiece. Definitely going to show this movie to my students so they can see what WWII was really like. As for the product itself, the steel book definitely adds value and a wow factor when people come over (or used to come over, you know, pre covid) it would stand out and it would be the first movie people grabbed from my collection.

it is a ww 11 movie. it is not for children or those that do not understand military.

Not my favorite war movie. Characters did not matchup with the time period depicted

Being a woman of faith helps me appreciate movies that show God almighty honoring his children's faith. This movie helped me see God's glory in action. If God is for you who can be against and prevail. God used a skinny man to show the strong what he can do with us when we surrender ourselves to His will. He have a weakly soldier the strength of a buffalo.

Movie of a hero, who does not kill anyone but saves many lives, a real keeper movie

We bought this movie as a gift for a family member, They have really enjoyed it.
