Hacksaw Ridge is a true story (well told) about a young man who joins the Army and refuses to carry a a gun as a conscientious objector but wants to be a Medic to save (rather than take) lives. Tremendous movie that really comes to life in 4K. RECOMMENDED

The story was very interesting. The action was terrific. Everything about the movie was good. But two problems. Could not get past Andrew Garfield playing this person because I could not get past his previous role as Spider-Man. In fact he still had the smirk on his face throughout the movie. The other thing was although the action looked so real, but I did not understand why as incoming new recruits that they did not get a buzz hair cut. In fact, this happens even in todays Army. That was a big mistake on a movie that tried to make everything realistic.

This movie has both action and heart appeal. Based on a true story that makes you proud to be an American and gives you reason for not being too quick to judge. It makes for a great adventure involving a variety of life's relationships and challenges that ends well.

Saw this movie when it first came out on regular Blu-ray and thought it was awesome. The picture was great and the audio was outstanding. I decided to get it on 4K and boy oh boy both the audio and picture are outstanding. There is a huge increase in detail and clarity from what I remember from the regular Blu-ray. The Hdr has some excellent specular highlights with richer colors. I am totally happy I picked it up on 4K definitely a demo worthy film.

Solid performances by a very talented cast (led by Andrew Garfield) elevate this film. Although there are strong religious undertones, Mel Gibson's direction in this one prevents it from becoming "preachy". A remarkable story about a remarkable man. Not for the queasy.

This is my favorite war movie and is (in my opinion) the best movie Mel Gibson's best movie other than The Passion of the Christ! This story have a similar feel to that of Sergeant York (set in WWI) but is set in WWII. It's an AMAZING true story of courage and faith!

Great filmaking. Not your average patriotic heroic film, as it's perspective is more from the conscientious objector in a time of war, not an easy thing to do while surrounded by peers of soldiers trained for a different agenda. Hats off to the main (true based) character.

Didn’t know much about this movie. Picked it up cuz of the nice steelbook and I’m glad I did. It was an amazing heartbreaking story

Originally started watching by myself and as family peeked in and started to watch they became riveted. Amazing story line, that once it caught you it didn't let go. Scenery and cinematography jumped off the screen. Mel Gibson's attention to detail came through and paid off.

I already had the movie but bought it as a birthday present for my brother because he likes war movies also. I like that it comes with a DVD and Bluray. The price was good also. If you are a fan of World War 2 movies then this will a nice addition to your collection.

Great movie had to have it because of the Coronavirus has planted more heartbreak in my life. Losing my mother was awful. This movie depicts love for others no matter who you are. It pulls at your heart .

Based upon a true story. The acting and directing is SUPERB. The special effects are second to none. Ultra accurate from a historical perspective (props, clothing, etc.) A number of scenes in this movie remind me of Saving Private Ryan. I strongly recommend this movie.

If I didn't know that this was based on a true story I would have thought it to be too good to be true. He was real and was so modest that he wouldn't let his story be told while he was still alive. Mel Gibson did a wonderful job telling his story. And it looks great in 4K.

I didn't know what to expect from this--I guess what you could call--faith-based movie. A lot of times they are low budget and it shows. I don't think it was low-budget but I did like the storyline (especially since it was based on a true story) and the cinematography. Although the war scenes were graphic, I would assume that war is not pretty and it definitely got that point across. The effects were superb. I thought the acting was good. And I like the fact that you get both a Blu-ray Disc and a regular DVD.

Yes, this is a war movie. Yes, it is quite graphic. BUT this movie is also almost Hallmark-like because of the nature of the storyline. Although it may not be suitable for those with weak stomachs or for small children, it may be quite passable as a 'date' movie.

Good movie in 4K much better than blu-ray. This is the way to go if you have the equipment to support it. The digital copy is also nice to put on a ipad or phone to maybe watch if your not at home while on the go.

This movie truly strikes a chord. Perfectly done and hits every mark on what one wants to see out of such an impactful event in the history of the United States. Well done in homage to an honorable veteran

Plenty of action and war related mayhem, but an outstanding performance by the lead actor, and Mel Gibson never disappoints in the directors chair. Snubbed at the Oscars in favor of La La Land with typical Hollywood nonsense, This film is a MUST HAVE for your collection!

This movie is great! Loved the acting and the plot! It can be a little gory for younger audiences especially but I found it extremely realistic which added to the movie. I saw it twice in theaters and bought it as soon as it came out on DVD! It's a great action movie!

This was the best war film since The Thin Red Line. This was the best movie to come out in years. One of the best films to come out in the last decade. The fact it didn't win best picture and Mel didn't win best director just shows how big of a load the Oscars really are.
