Excellent movie for the avid movie goer. Well worth the time.

I watched the first half with a friend , but didn't see ending

This war film is based on the true story of Desmond Doss, a pacifist who enlisted in World War II. He refused to carry a weapon, or kill the enemy. Doss' father is an abusive alcoholic and is one aspect of his reason to embrace nonviolence. He prefers saving the wounded men and chooses to become a medic. The graphic violence of battle, and man's inhumanity during war is portrayed in horrifying detail. But even before any battles, Doss is abused and beaten by his fellow soldiers during basic training, because he refused to carry a weapon. His superior officers try jailing him and even put him on trial for his refusal to carry a weapon. Fine acting all around.

One of the best movies I've seen in a while. Has a GREAT storyline and is full of action.

Teaches us not to judge based on what we feel but on the character of the a person.

The story takes you back and you get to really know what the character went with through.

Another tour de force by Mel Gibson. Great to have him back and working. This movie tells the story of Desmond Doss. A conscientious object or during World War II who goes to serve regardless as a medic and comes back a hero. A must see.
