A great movie. This movie reminds me how thankful i am to never have gone to war. Very intense the whole movie. Truly a american hero

"Hacksaw Ridge" gets my highest recommendation for the way this unique WWII story of an often unsung hero was presented, as well as its high-grade, reference Blu-ray experience. Bringing the tale of Desmond Doss, the true-life, mislabeled conscientious objector (he didn't refuse military service, rather, he refused to carry a weapon WHILE serving in the military) could have been thought to be a droll tale by the standards of most current film fans, but this story is everything but droll. This film's importance is something I can never overstate, so suffice it for me to say that you really SHOULD see it, if you're a fan of drama and history. The film is one of the most moving experiences I have ever had the treat of having. To the disc, this is Blu-ray reference material all the way and you'll never regret showing this one off on your HDTV or in your home theater. The video is flawless, the audio is a reference-grade Dolby Atmos track (for those of you without an Atmos-capable receiver, the disc has a Dolby TrueHD 7.1 core) and the extras are engaging and well worth your time. WARNING: The war violence IS extensive, as it details one of the most devastating and bloody battles of the WWII Pacific campaign. Exercising care in who you watch this with is recommended. Overall, the experience and the disc come HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

A little slow in the beginning, but once they get to the island in the South Pacific the action is 110% ! Even more lifelike in 4K.

This a another must see movie. I am a huge WW2 buff and film wise not as good as Private Ryan, easily a close runner up.

There are a lot of really good movies, and then there are REALLY GREAT MOVIES. This movie DEFINITELY falls under the latter description and category. Set in Okinawa during World War II, U.S. troops assigned to the Pacific Theater are engaged in intense conflict against the Imperial Army of Japan in the Battle of Hacksaw Ridge. This movie draws you in as a feeling of empathy builds for Army Combat Medic, Desmond T. Doss in a way that words fail to describe. This medic was placed in harm's way despite the fact that he was a "Conscientious Objector, but not for the war itself, but for the willful taking of another human life alone. This movie allows you feel the pressures and anguishes of war, self preservation and unyielding bravery shown by the sacrifices that many brave soldiers face on a battlefield and who freely and willingly give their all, if called to do so. These noble actions are displayed throughout the film as it depicts the selfless and altruistic acts of bravery that this combat medic performed under the duress of battle, all the while, WITHOUT A WEAPON!..This gives reason to reflect on how one's honor, devotion, camaraderie and steadfastness to one's faith can help claim victory when faced with insurmountable odds. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS MOVIE.

Saw this movie at the theater. Wonderful story of bravery during WWII. Had to have it so we could watch it at home.

The movie showed the courage of one soldier who did more without firing a gun than soldiers who were firing at the enemy.
