The movie takes on an awful subject that is sad material and does a pretty good job. I like the acting jobs and thought the movie was worth one or two watches, really...good jobs considering the true story is part of a sad history that happened.

I am a veteran from a later war. Very hard to show on film what a war is really like. However, this movie gives a pretty good insight on how it really is. Watch it not for pleasure, but for understanding what goes on when there is so much danger all around you. Great effort by the director.

I heard a lot of good things from my friends about this movie. At first I was skeptical but it turned out to be a really good movie. Everything from the composition of shots, the editing, and the soundtrack really worked well for this film. Plus the blu-ray DVD combo is really convenient.

The movie is based on WII war zone called the Hacksaw , man this guy is amazing what he went thru believe me , this movie is ten times better than Saving Private Ryan with Tom Hanks , this movie is the puts you there in the action.

This was one of the best WW II stories I have watched in the last several years. It presents war from a fresh perspective and shows not everyone in a war situation needs to be a "warrior" to be a hero. Great acting and direction. The movie will have a place in my collection of war movies.

This movie is so realistic it makes you sad to admit we are so quick to judge to condemn someone for going against the norm. Then suddenly, they live by a higher moral code and do the most bravest things you never knew about. Acting and action scenes are so realistic it's as if you are there!

Awesome film of a young man who stood by his principles when it would have been so easy to compromise. Uncommon bravery in the face of near certain death... all to save his fellow soldiers - many of whom derided him for his belief. Uncommon courage worthy of the Congressional Medal of Honor.

Hacksaw Ridge is one of best War Movies in a long time. From what I read on Desmond Doss and Hacksaw Ridge the movie all in all is pretty accurate to the real thing and that what the screenwriters wanted it that way. And yes Mel Gibson is back. May his next movie be just as good as this one.

This is not just another war movie. The way men or women can serve their country can come in many forms. This happens to be a story about a young man who was determined to serve in his own way. Yes... there are a lot of things (blood and guts) that may not be appropriate for youngsters but this is also very inspirational for those who may struggle to be steadfast in maintaining their own values. It may be hard to believe that this is a true story but make no mistake... it is.

Fantastic movie with some of the year best performance. I've never would've know such a story exist if not for this movie. It's also a Oscar nominated.

Here's a film that every young person needs to watch today. Not only is it one of those most powerfully depicted war stories ever made (and true no-less) it is a story of a type of faith that has been today, torn away from the cultural fabric that once made us the UNITED States of America.

This is an amazing story that absolutely demanded to be told. Mel Gibson is a welcomed return behind the camera as he mixes the highs and lows with ease. The practical effects match the emotional depth portrayed by the cast. Impossible to take your eyes off the screen from start to finish.

Great movie!! Based on a true story. Great example of a Christian man who held to his convictions and how God used him to witness to his fellow soldiers during the war. Also a cute love story.

Forget Moonlight, forget La La Land, the best movie of 2016 was Hacksaw Ridge. Andrew Garfield gives an unbelievable performance. The supporting cast is great. The war scenes make Saving Private Ryan look like The Longest Day. Great hi def video and audio make the Blu ray a no brainer.

Hats off to the screenwriters and director for making a great movie. The special effects are unbelievable. Once the action begins it is nonstop and is comparable to the opening scenes of "Saving Private Ryan". The fact that this movie is based on a true story makes it that much better.

What a great story. Didn't know about this story before the movie, but it was very inspiring. If you like a good war movie, you will like this one. The fact that it is based on a true story is even better. After watching you might want to check on how true to the story Hollywood kept it.

This movie is an excellent study in morality that is usually ignored by Hollywood. It is thought provoking without making "straw men" of the supporters or opponents of the issues faced by the main character. We need more movies like this instead of just blowing up a city or a world.

I had seen the movie and wanted a copy for myself; also, I have a grandson who saw the movie before and by the time I saw it, he had gone online to research the facts about 'Hacksaw Ridge' and the young man, Desmond Doss, who was a conscienous observor and ended up saving many lives

I bought this after having already seen it. I wanted it to see again, but it wasn’t available on any of the streaming services I have. Found it at Best Buy on sale and decided to buy. Highly recommend it, if you haven’t seen it already.
