The definitive edition of Halloween on blu-ray!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Halloween is a classic, renowned horror title and covering the film itself here would be futile. With that said, there are two versions of this classic available on blu-ray and this one - the 35th anniversary edition - is definitely the superior of the two. Unlike the first generic release, this particular edition of Halloween was restored to optimize the blu-ray format and it most definitely shows in the transfer. If you do not own this gem already and are trying to decide which version to get, the 35th anniversary edition is the way to go!

Halloween 35th anniversary blu ray
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Halloween is still one of my favorite horror movies of all time.I have the special edition dvd release from 2001,but this is the first blu ray release of the movie I've purchased. In my opinion the picture quality on this anniversary release looks excellent, along with both 7.1 dolby true HD and mono soundtracks, the movie hasn't sounded better . I'm hoping that someday a blu ray version is released that incorporates the tv version footage into the movie. At least those scenes are presented here in the bonus material. All in all a solid release.

The horror movie that, for good or bad, started it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the movie that made Jamie Lee Curtis a scream queen. This is a GREAT horror film, a slow burn with a constant tension and a few jump scares. It set the standard. Originally intended to be the start of a long saga it hit a road-bump with Halloween 3 which had nothing to do with Michael Meyers and then the death of one of the main actors made John Carpenter give up. There are like 11 movies, only two of them worth watching. In 201 they made a sequel that erased the history past this first one.

Halloween- finally in respectable 4k and Atmos
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I owned the previous version of this on 4k butnwas disappointed with the 4k and audio. Not anymore. Everything from the packaging with the exrra-sturdy "sideways" slipcover to the newly-improved 4k presentation and atmos audio (also new), this is such a classic. You habe never seen or heard it like this.

Best Halloween yet
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Some older movies don't age as well when it comes to remasters and updates, but this one did. The iconic scene of him standing by the hedges was phenomenal. Seeing that in 4k, and how absolutely vivid the grass and hedges looked, was fantastic. The darker shots were much crisper and didn't have much of the grainy, static type of look from the original presentation. This is definitely worth the money if you want an upgrade. It made the movie even better to me. Absolute classic that now looks even better.

Movie Theater Quality Movie
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My review is a bit biased as I am a huge fan of John Carpenter's movie. I was a bit skeptical on how a 4K movie would work with a film from the 70s. The brighter, clearer colors were amazing. The contrast from the black "colors" really made the movie seem like movie theater quality. This review is more about the 4K portion than the actual movie. If you are a Halloween fan I would suggest picking it up in 4K.

Essential
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's classic, but you already know that. If you're UHD capable, this is about as wonderful and comprehensive a package as you'll get. I've seen many have issues with the compression on the new UHD transfer, but I didn't have much by way of issue on my 65" set. If you're more susceptible to being annoyed by that, then ymmv.

A classic.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It had been a while since I had scene this movie, but when it came out on 4k I thought it was time to acquire it. It's an oldie but a masterfully crafted piece of filmmaking. It influenced an entire film genre. Other filmmakers recognized it and it's impact on the movie industry and is since been copied to this day. Halloween in 4k has a very sharp picture even for it's time and the way it was filmed. Drab and mostly in the dark, but the clarity is there. The best I've seen it look so far.

The Version to Get!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm so glad to have my hands on this classic! This is the definite version to get! I love the slipbox and the fact that the cover is reversible. Despite the disc holders being flimsy (I suspect I got an eco case) and the case being a bit too tight in the box, I still give this five stars and recommend it.

4k review
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ok no need to review the movie.m, it's been done 1million times by now. The big question is how does the 4k look. I watched it on 65 inch LG OLED and it looked the best I think it has ever looked. There is a layer of grain but it's never so heavy it takes away from the film. The opening credits with the pumpkin and the black back ground and the light inside the pumkin really was impressive looking for a movie 40 years old. I hate double dipping, but it was well worth it.

You know, I never seen this one until now and....
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It was awesome! I can’t belive it took me so long to watch this classic! Oh man this was definitely a great film! It had some questionable moments here and there but it doesn’t ruin the flick. A great movie to watch on Halloween. I saw rob zombies movie when it came out and loved it. I just wished John Carpenter would’ve focused on the kid as well on why he came out to be so problematic. But that’s just me! Still this is a classic and a must have on your collection.

Awesome steelbook for a classic must own film!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not only one of the best, but the ORIGINAL "slasher" film. Evil with no face comes for everyone, and while that has been done to death in film, it has never been done as it was done here. There is not much to say about the film itself as all that can be said has been said, but the steelbook alone is worth the purchase. It's absolutely gorgeous and a must own for all true collectors.

The First and The Best!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What I love most about Halloween is the atmosphere. It FEELS like Halloween, and they didn't even film it in the fall! I think it's the best of the slasher movies because it's more about the anticipation, the building excitement and fear, than it is about the blood. And the music! THE MUSIC! Can't beat the music. It's creepy, and there's hardly a better horror film soundtrack out there.

Original horror movie classic
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.John Carpenter's original HALLOWEEN is still some 40 years later one of the best horror films ever made, Over the years I've upgraded my VHS copy to DVD to Blu-ray and now to 4K Blu-ray. This 4K version is basically the 35th Anniversary Blu-ray edition. The picture looks great for a film that was shot on a low budget years ago, so don't expect a crystal clear picture, but I did notice the night scenes were better looking on 4K than regular Blu-ray.
