Apparently, according to Harmon Kardon customer service, "The HK ONE has the auto standby feature which kicks in when no audio signal is received from the source, which is connected either via Bluetooth or wired connection, within minutes of not receiving signal. ... Unfortunately, the standby feature is a pre-programmed feature and cannot be disabled. You might want to try cranking the volume up on the source(mobile device) and adjust the volume on the speaker accordingly." Connected to my MP3 player, which was playing continuously at its maximum volume for 90 minutes, this speaker, which was plugged in to the wall, turned itself off approximately every 10 minutes during my class. Had I thought to test it prior to my class, I would not have run into this problem. Decent sound when it was playing but absolutely useless to me since it is nonfunctional with my MP3 player and there is no fix for it. Quite disappointed.

This portable speaker works perfectly for using inside and carrying outside when hanging out. Good sound!

A sturdy aluminum case, weather and dust resistant control surfaces, 2 x 6W speakers - this is an excellent portable speaker. I purchased at a Best Buy store for $79 upon the advice of store staff. This HK One connects to my MacBook Pro with bluetooth and no hassle at all. There have been some comments requesting more "base". To my ear the speakers are just about right. Plenty of volume, can easily fill a room. The battery life seems as advertised, about 5 hours. Very pleased with this purchase.

For $79, this was a great purchase. Sound is comparable to speakers three times the price. Definitely fills the room.

I bought it at one week ago.Everything was great! But only battery is poor.

I was trying to find the perfect gift for my husband and heard about HK. I was very sceptical about the price of the item regardless of what people were saying as I am just not one to shell out that kind of cash for a speaker! Long story short when my husband got it he was happy until finding out how much I had paid. I told him I wasn't returning it to just accept it as it was his only Christmas gift that year. Less than a year later and it already broke. It sounded nice don't get me wrong when it worked but for the money I am less than pleased with its lifespan. Considering I have purchased other speakers for way cheaper or second hand from swap meets that lasted longer than this one. If I could do it over I would have just returned the speaker like he wanted and gave him the money instead.

I bought this because I needed to replace my Klipsch bluetooth speaker that died. Best Buy had it on sale so I thought I would give it a try. I was happy with it for about a day. I travel for my work and like to have music with me. I may not always be near a outlet to charge a speaker, so that is why I wanted a portable speaker. The speaker will not hold a charge for more than 15 minutes and then I have to plug it in again. I would not recommend this if you are looking for portability. Other than that, it sounds like something you would expect from Harmon Kardon.

This great sounding, great priced speaker has a terrible battery life. After a few hours it will just stop playing. Disappointed.
