I have a Dr Dre that I will keep for upstairs music listening and will keep this Harman downstairs. To me, the Dr Dre & Harman is comparable. I'm a music lover of many types of music. The size & shape is convenient to carry. Hawaiian music sounds great on the Harman-Kardon and the price was even greater at $99. I just bought 2 more online for college graduation gifts. I am definitely giving it a 5 for sound, price & quality.

Even with the Black Friday discount I returned this. The sound is weak, I would pass for another option.

I was expecting it to be loud so i could use to parties. Just disappointed.

Harman/kardon - Onyx Mini Portable Wireless Speaker - Sound is poor quality.

Speaker is ok at best, distorts at mid level sound and lacks bass.

Got this one in thanksgiving deal. Not sure whether it's refurbished or original. It's really annoying when volume at Max, sounds really bad when bass goes to peak. Going to return this and buy Bose Soundlink Mini II instead. Which was my favorite.

These were on sale for 99 but said originally 199. I said to myself...for what? it is small and easy to break. Not that loud and it's got no screen to make using it easy. The sound quality was ok at best but I just expected more from HK.

I went through the JBL Flip 2, Sony SRSXB3, Bose Soundtouch, and finally tried this Onyx at the end and it won out. The sound quality is in the order I went through the various tests. Both the JBL and Sony's still sounded very tin-like, with the JBL's having the weakest bass. For me the worst thing is when the speakers make the sound emit like it's stuck in the speaker box, versus being a part of the ambience. The Bose was okay, but the sound quality was not worth the price tag is the issue. Yes it has awesome other features like the channels and remote control, but that just isn't worth an extra $100. One of the workers suggested Onyx, which I'd never used before and though obviously they aren't as great as a larger high quality speaker system, they are very balanced. The Bose did have a stronger bass sound, but in turn, it also was muffled and sounded "wongy" versus the Onyx whose bass was a bit weaker, but the overall sound was crisper without having a high treble or midi. It also did what I was hoping, which was having the music not sound like it was coming from a tiny box. I tested pop, hip hop, ballads, and classical. Great job, Onyx.

Blown tweet after 3 days of use. Spent the money thinking these could last longer than other brands.

I've been wanting to buy a wireless speaker for a while now just to use to listen to music at home. I was eyeing the Bose Soundlink II Mini after reading the reviews, but I held it off because it was a little too pricey for me. I was browsing at the Best Buy store today trying to look for the cheapest speaker for the time being, until I decide to buy the Bose. I came across this Onyx Mini. It was priced as $49.99 (originally $199.99). I quickly searched for reviews for this particular speaker and it got 4.7 stars. I decided to just go for it since it was only $50. While checking out, the sales associate even said these speakers were pretty good quality. I'm so glad I got these instead of the Bose - the quality is pretty good for such a mini speaker!! No complaints so far. And I'm glad I bought it at the Best Buy store, because their site had it marked for $99.99. Not too shabby for a $50 Mini wireless speaker.

The Sound quality from the harman/kardon - Onyx Mini Portable Wireless Speaker is excellent. the battery life for the speaker lasts as advertised. The base quality from these little speakers is phenomenal, had placed it on the floor which was carpeted and when I activated the speaker was wondering where the vibration was coming from and then realized, duh it's the speaker....didn't think a speaker of this size could generate the base quality...boy was I so wrong....Have one in Black and one in Grey....this is a definite must have if you want A+ sound quality from a mini portable speaker!!

I was originally looking to get a Bluetooth speaker and my first thoughts were JBL and Bose both within the $100-$150 range. I try to test out the Soundlink Mini II and the JBL Charge 3 but neither display worked at my local best buy. I was forced to purchase them and test them out at home in order to see which one sounded better out of the two. Out of the corner of my eye as I'm leaving the speaker aisle, I see this Onyx mini 3 priced at $49.99 which I instantly knew was a mistake because Harman/Kardon are quite expensive. I bought the sound link mini II and the onyx mini to test them out and at higher, volume the onyx surpasses the Soundlink mini II and was able to purchase it at a 70% lower price than what was listed on Best Buy. I guess their mistake ended up being my gain because I ended up buying 2 onyx minis for my living room and boy does it fill up the room with rich sound. I know nobody will find it at the price I was able to purchase it at, unless their local BestBuy also messed up, but it truly sounds like a speaker worth $150-$200.

I got this on Black Friday for $99, and it was money well spent, for the size it sounds pretty awesome. I use it with my tablet for music, YouTube, and Netflix, listening to it in the stores doesn't do it justice, way to noisy in that environment

It has the best sound and bass for the size!! Don't believe the other reviews about them saying it bad, but I own the onyx 2 and the aura by Harmon/kardon and they are all great!

I got to say this is a really nice sounding portable speaker. If you are wondering if you should get one of these don't hesitate. Blows away my Bose Wave.

Definitely comparable to the Beats Pill 2.0. Very portable, fast charging, and pretty loud for its size and purpose. Please keep in mind it's a mini speaker, so don't expect a surround sound quality output. The only con is that it doesn't include an aux wire. Although, aux wires are definitely cheap, I was surprised one wasn't included.
