Whats with plugging this ibto the wall!!. Sound is great , battery life has been extended. Why no battery discharge indicator? Ive had the Studio 2 for 2 years now, I have it synched with my Alexa Dot. Maybe HK will get it right with the 5th generation! The 5th time is a charm.

This bluetooth speaker is a GREAT product as is to be expected from Harmon Kardon who has ALWAYS put out the highest quality products in stereo systems one the last 40 years since I have been following them. This particular speaker couldn't be better. The sound quality is outstanding, not tinny or distorted at all even at maximum volume. The only draw back is th ed exorbitant price Best Buy charges for it. It may be purchased for around $100 brand new in th he box if you shop around. I got mine for $90+ tax.

This speaker earns lots of praise whenever friends hear it. The BB info says it has one speaker. Well, it IS one speaker but inside are several speakers plus bass porting. The sound is both crisp on highs, splendid in the middle and deep and rich on the bottom. Having separate speakers inside doing specific jobs sets this baby apart from most others. I’m about to pull the trigger on another for the garage.

Has one of the best audio of all Bluetooth portable speaker. This is comparing it to the JBL Boom box, JBL Extreme, UE MegaBoom, Sony XB40, etc and not even come considering the smaller units like the Boom2, XB20, Bose SoundLink Color2, etc... Pure audio alone would be 4 or 5 stars. Compared to a JBL BoomBox it doesn't have the ultimate amount or volume of bass when cranked up above volume 80-90%. However at most other listening levels, the equalization of the audio including the bass response is much fuller and natural. The really low bass under 60hz is present without needing to crank it up. Where these units fall flat, is in there portability and user interface. The shape, though good for stationary audio, makes the device roll around in the trunk when transporting. One of the biggest failures, is the inability to put it into a stereo mode with a second unit without using the software. The software itself is very clunky, and often takes several tries. You can only put the second unit into party mode using the on-board buttons without the software. Also when paired with a second unit in dual stereo mode, the first couple seconds of audio is chopped off when skipping tracks.Bose and Sony have figured out how to do this without any of the software, and would using just the onboard buttons. Both the Sony and the Bose can pare a second unit in a stereo mode for better stereo imaging reliably. Sony takes it one step further with support for LDAC. Now only if any of these units supported AptX as well. Finally, is the reliability of these units. Which is not too good under battery power. Since new, they've had problems with their internal non replaceable batteries. Especially with bass heavy music, and anything above 50% volume level, the units will shut down or go into a low battery warning after a maybe 15 minutes. Been like that since they were new. After powering them back up, and with no audio, they will show between 40 to 50% or even more power remaining. The other negative, or con, is that they require a special 19 volt power adapter with a barrel plug. They will not charge with microUSB or USB-C. Conclusion. One of the best sounding portable Bluetooth speakers especially when plugged in to power adapter (amplifier power output is double when plugged into the wall.) Smooth quality audio, one of the best low frequency responses. And sound good at nearly all volume levels including low volume levels and high volume levels. They do not clip or compress frequency response much at higher volumes which many lesser speakers will. Fixing that power when on battery issue as well as the Bluetooth reliability and the user interface of being able to put it into stereo pair with a second unit without software would make this a 5-star unit.

I purchased the Onyx 4 bluetooth speaker on Black Friday. At the time, the store was out of stock, so I bought it without listening. Much to my surprise, it is a fantastic speaker. Unlike other bluetooth speakers you get a wide range of frequencies, not just a constant low end bass. I am so pleased with the Onyx 4, I am going to Best Buy today and purchase another

One time me and my friends took this to the top of a high roof. The speaker rolled off and hit the floor really hard. When we went to get it, it worked just fine and didn't have a single scratch on it. #Quality

Great when paired in stereo mode,worst app ever just horrible to use no matter what divice I'm using APP ALWAYS CLOSES and getting into stereo mode takes time and patience. H. K could learn from Sony here they have the app down perfectly..Sometimes I use my little Xb20s because I don't have time or patience to mess with the HK app... Sad for HK connect app

This speaker is amazing for large living rooms or for the back yard. I use it in the garage. Keep your eye on this thing. Always goes on sale during black friday.

I purchased this speaker about 2 years ago. The sound quality is good but now it doesn't hold a charge for as long as it used to. Speaker goes dead in less than 1 hour after a full charge. Not fun of you want to take it somewhere that doesn't have an outlet.

1-year warranty. Won't turn on after only 1.5 years, I didn't use it all that much really, and I'm very careful with my electronics. Harman's customer service offered me 20% off something from their website. I used to be a big fan of Harman/Kardon and Infinity. Disassembled the unit but don't see anything obvious on the circuit board. I own a Harman/Kardon AVR500 from 1998, Infinity Overture 3 speakers ($1250/each in 1998), Infinity center and surrounds, have a Harman/Kardon Go+Play mini - and I had issues with the receiver (warranty covered), had tweeters go out on the Overture 3's (Harman sent me new ones well after the warranty period), speaker cones separated from the rubber speaker surround on the Go+Play. That's enough of this. I'm trying other brands from now on. Does sound great from such a small speaker, but I don't want to buy a new one every other year.

Harmon speakers are my favorite. I have 3 of them, however, this one I have two of ended up no longer holding a charge and bops when you play music through it. I plan to contact manufacturer, but dragging my feet because it seems many products aren’t made as they use to be. They only last a few years.

This was a good speaker but it only lasted for about a year and a half. It would get a lot of static. I could move it around and it would be OK for a while then the static would come back. Finally gave up and bought a different brand.

I day after warranty it dies. Tried several times to reach their service people with Zero response. I finally tried again today and was told it was probably their charger or battery. The problem, the battery can only be accessed and changed by a service center or get a new charger... they have to decide and the cost is more than the speaker! DON'T buy Onyx speakers unless you want to be abused!
