Customers praise the Harman Spark 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot for its reliable hotspot capabilities, making it an ideal device for mobile use. The easy setup process and the integration of GPS and vehicle diagnostics are also well-received features. However, some customers express concerns regarding activation issues, the monthly fee, and slow internet speeds.

I had one of these but made by a different company. I worked perfectly!! I loves it. I had to get another one and got this one. I got it for long travels for the children. It never worked. I called customer service and they always gave me a different answer each time. In the end they said it was 4G. Guess what it’s a 5G world catch up please!!!

WiFi is great! It does tell you often that disturbance has been detected when you get in the car or sometimes when you’re away and really there is no disturbance. So I wouldn’t count on it for security purposes. But for wifi on the go and road trips especially, it’s great!

All -- Get ready for some HELL when you purchase this device. Firstly, if you do not have a service with AT&T -- you might as well drive to the AT&T store before you get this junk home. You will NOT be able to activate the device without an AT&T account -- and you can only get a new account at an AT&T store!! The guys at Hartman Spark -- WORTHLESS! The guys at AT&T -- who will give you a run around -- WORTHLESS!!! Save yourself some HELL -- DO NOT BUY THIS GARBAGE!!!

You have to get an AT&T subscription to use this item. Or you have to add a line to your phone.

I love the fact that I can get diagnostics as well as wifi on it. I was going to order it from AT&T but then I walked into the store and there it was. Perfect.

Do not buy this Harman Spark from Best Buy. I'm a loyal customer of both Best Buy and AT&T but after being on the phone with AT&T for a minimum of about 5 hours, I found out that if you buy the Harman Spark from any other than AT&T, it will not work. Even if AT&T says that it should work and they blame Harman for technical issues, it's really an AT&T issue for not sending activation information to Harman. I ended up buying a new Harman through AT&T and worked immediately and very easy to use.

Spent 2.5 hours by contacting 12 ATT representatives to activate and no one is able to activate as purchased from Bestbuy. Finally decided to return. Lesson learned ATT wants you to buy from ATT store.

A little confusing in the sense that you have to have an AT&T account and pay monthly. I didn't understand that so it made it not for me. I never got the service place so can't really attest to how it works.

The only issue was the activation, had to go to AT&T store to get it activated; they will assign you a wireless phone number. App is really easy to use, easy to follow instructions in the manual, you have to call customer service so they can link your account to the device. This device has been very helpful for me to track my family in case of emrgencies.

Do not buy. Support say take it to ATT store and get a card put in. Store put in a card and cannot not help more. Support say must be a yellow 4G card. Go to store, they do not have a 4G card. There is no way to get it activated. What is really frustrating is when you try to view your account online with ATT and you cannot because it send a verification number to this device.

Can’t say good or bad about the item. I was in a rush shipping a car and decided to try and “keep tabs on it”.
I was done with it before it started. The thing requires you to have an AT&T wireless account. Used the store locator for AT&T and there was no store for them. Too complicated to try and mess with if you don’t already have them. You have to go to the store before you can even use it or set it up. You can’t set up an account online at all even just for this.

The Harman Spark is an AT&T LTE hotspot device that can also provide useful information to a connected app (Harman Spark+) on your phone. This simple device just plugs into your ODBII port that is found on most 1996 and newer vehicles. This is the diagnostic port that mechanics will use to trouble shoot an issue with your car if you ever have one. The Harman Spark can read some of that data and provide some limited information on your car. I have a 2019 Honda and it seems to be compatible with all of the features and it will tell me how much fuel I have (not very accurate, but a ballpark figure), reads current speed, direction, location, if the car is idling or parked, along with impact detection, trips history, and the virtual mechanic which reads the previously referenced mechanic codes. It does give you battery voltage as well and that could give you an indication that your battery needs to be replaced soon. The device also keeps track of how you drive with total distance, driving time, hard brakes, hard accelerations and sharp turns. This totals up and gives you a driving score that is updated every week. Info like this could help you become a better driver if that is your goal. The main reason for getting this device I feel is to have a Wi-Fi hotspot for up to 8 devices. Setting that up is super simple and works well. There are some indicator lights on the top of the deice that you cannot see (at least for me) when it is plugged in, so they are useless for the most part. You have no idea if you are connected to AT&T’s network other than the light on the device which you may not be able to see. Data plans are also an extra cost for this and depending on your usage you can select different ones. I have LTE coverage all over where I live, and I did get coverage, but my speeds were not that great for the most part, but your mileage may vary, as they say. I had two of my kids’ tablets connected to this while cruising around and they had some bad lag and buffering at times on their videos. It was a source of frustration for us, and we ended up not using it any more for that reason. Not streaming videos to more than one device, it might be better, but it does not suit my needs. Notifications can be set for different things such as device removal low fuel, getting towed, or exceeding a certain MPH. I found them to work well, with the exception of the speed limit. I set my limit to 70 and it will not alert me if I am going 72, seems to only alert me when I hit 75 and I have tried with keeping it at 72 for 15 seconds to give it time. I also tested my device in my 2006 Honda, and it would not read the remaining fuel amount in the tank. In the end, I am better off just using my phone’s hotspot feature and not worrying about the other features this product offers. But if you are on a limited data plan or have bad service with your cell phone provider, this might be a good option for you.

Looks good, although I bought this mainly because it was on sale at the time. I haven't bought a subscription for the 4G LTE yet but I use ATT so it should work. Without a subscription, the app doesn't let you do anything so I will have to follow up.

I really wanted to give this a much higher rating however, I can't. I walked into the Clackamus OR store to purchase this item. I told them I needed a data plan with ATT to set this up and the rep refused. Said I needed to go to ATT for the set up. I go to ATT and attempt to set up on line. The rep attempted to help me and set up an account however they attempted to send me a SIM Card I informed them the device had a preinstalled SIM. So now the line is in limbo... ARRGH.... Next I go to ATT for assistance. The insist to change out SIM but cant do it with the account previously set. After going around and around we had to set up a brand new ATT account they gave me the SIM. after inserting the new SIM into the device would never communicate with ATT. And, after several attempts on the phone and several lost hours, lost revenue etc. I canceled the ATT account and returned the device back to Best Buy.. I would not recommend this device to anyone nor the services with ATT.
