    Good Addition

I've been a fan of Harry Potter since the first book. I've enjoyed watching the characters grow up in both the books and the movies. I absolutely love the movies - I think they did a great job on all of them. By far, my favorite is the Prisoner of Azkaban. I think the mistake a lot of book-readers make is that they don't allow the movies to stand on their own and that's where most of the negative reviews stem from. You HAVE to treat the films and books separate or the films are doomed to fail. As the stories have progressed they've gotten more in depth and the books longer and more has to be trimmed when it comes to film them. The most that any film maker can do is to try and capture the essence of the final four books and so far they've done that. Half-Blood Prince is a very good addition to the series but don't be fooled here, you're not going to get very much action at all. It's pace is that of a set-up film and that's exactly what the story was designed to do - setup for Deathly Hallows. The movie is dark, which I enjoyed a lot. You get the sense that things outside of Hogwarts are falling apart and it's confirmed midway through the film when the Order meets at the Burrow. The music is spot-on and the acting is mostly great. The only criticism would be Bonnie Wright. She CAN act, I just don't feel that she was directed all that well. The gem in the movie is Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy). It was great to see the inner turmoil that I had anticipated. I have the Blu-Ray copy and it looks as good as any other Blu-Ray copy that I have. The audio is very good as well.

    A Great Continuation

I am a huge fan of the Harry Potter films. Notice I said films, not books. I have not read any of the books, but that doesn't take away from the movies at all. I know people say the books are better, but when you haven't read the books, I really don't care if I'm missing anything. This film looked so beautiful to me in theaters. It uses any and every color you can think of, and it's great to see how the series is getting darker and darker. One complaint I head is the Voldemort is very underplayed in this chapter, but I was fine with that. We still get to see the youthful Tom Riddle at different stages in his life, and we et glimpses and his slow turn to evil, which I thought was awesome. Yes, it's more of a filler movie, but it works perfectly, setting up everything for the last two epic films, and I can't wait. If you have a Blu-ray player, I highly recommend picking this up on BD, you will not be disappointed.

option and feature packed, this blu ray brings it!

This is an amazing blu ray, reminds me of when DVD was the cutting edge of tech and the HP special disc sets included something like, 3 discs per film. There is entirely an enomrous amount of extras, special features,in movie pip's(where the cast and crew talk about the scenes, in picture in picture style-very cool),and loads more in this set. The feature itself looks absolutely stunning in high def. Especially the green and blue treatments they used throughout the film. As far as the story goes, the film does stray and take several liberties from the book, which i feel are kinda strange..I could go into it but i won't, out of spoilage. Overall, though this is probably the best blu ray i own currently, right along with star trek(2009). highly recommend it

Many try to compare the books and movies. This is a mistake, as I would agree that HBP is better in book form. That said, if you watch this movie without trying to compare it to the book, this is a great film. The film accomplishes everything it needed to, to set up the grand finale, and is very entertaining as you watch it unfold. The performances are wonderful, especially Jim Broadbent as Horace Slughorn. Books and movies are so different. Why so many people assume that their favorite book is going to be word for word, is beyond me. The first two movies were closer to the books and they weren't that great. The books are great. The movies are great. Don't assume that they will be exactly the same.

    Another Great Harry Potter Episode

    Posted .

This installment of the Harry Potter series sees the characters mature, both good and bad. There are several romantic twists, as Ron and Hermione sort through their feelings, and Harry has an internal battle about his best friend's sister (Ginny). Voldermort is wreaking havoc and Harry is convinced Malfoy is up to something sinister. If you don't know the story, you will be shocked at the surprise ending, but the story loses a lot of continuity since it is not practical to include all of the details from the book. This is a much darker movie than the light-hearted early episodes, but it brings us even closer to the climax of the final book (The Deathly Hallows will be split into two movies to try to solve this problem). Harry Potter fans will be pleased with the movie, but casual viewers might not be able to follow it very well.

Just decent for a Potter movie

To begin with, I had never read the book series, just watching the movies. The movie set up was generally dark, in both the plot and cinematography. Cannot say much about the plot, but in term of cinematography, high definition came to the rescue bringing to life the minute details of the movie set. The content was unfortunately had to be squeezed by the time constrained of the movie, thus, first time watching was a real challenge to follow the story with all the special effects. I had to watch it twice and turned on the subtite to find out who was the half-blood prince and completely followed the movie. May be now, I better get the book series to prepare for the final two videos.

The Movie was very good. I just don't get why they added some and left somethings out that you need later in the story. Like the Weasley house was burnt when it in in the next two books, and why would they make the Weasley house burning scene the big scene when they could have made the fight after Dumbledor dies as good as it was in the book? Why they had Ginny hide the book when Harry hides it under something he needs to find later? Why you cut out where Ginny and Harry first kiss? Why in the world would you leave out Dumbledor's funeral!!!!!!!!!! I still loved the movie but people who did not read the books like my husband were lost at time and I had to fill him in.

Harry Potter fans will love this movie as we are nearing the end with our favorite characters. For die-hard Potter fans, there are as always a few parts omitted from the book, but this is inevitable or every Potter movie would be 5 hours+. For non-Potter-book readers, there will be shocking surprises in this movie with only one book to go (although rumors tell us the final book will be split into 2 movies).

Just buy the movie (enticed me to read my first HP novel, "Deathly Hallows" cuz I couldn't stop with the end of this movie) - the sneak peak isn't worth a darn thing. However, if you want to learn something of Jo Rawling, there is an insightful documentary of a year spent with her as she takes on the completion of the series with "Deathly Hallows".

Overall it was a wonderful movie. It focused a little more on the relationships between the curent characters than in the book and I wonder how Harry will find some of the Horcruxes without some of the key memoriy scenes having been shown, but it was wonderfully shot and very entertaining. Can't wait for the next 2-parter.

This movie did a good job of following the book without keeping the film too long. It was my favorite of the series to date. A must have for Harry Potter fans adding to their collection. Even though the storyline was dark, there was more humor to offset the dire circumstances Harry and his friends found themselves in.

The movie was amazing. The graphics and acting was amazing. It would be a better movie by far if the books storyline was followed a little closer. I would recommend buying the gift set of all the movies so you can have a Harry Potter movie day.

Great movie worth the time to watch... Great special effect and all the wonderful things one can do with a wand.. I made a wand, but it didn't work needed a black ox tooth and some tears of a werewolf.. These things are just hard to come by... Well enough of my petty little troubles... I hope you like the movie...
