While this is probably one of the best family films since "Toy Story," the DVD is fairly lacking in the extra features department. It is rumoured that there were many scenes filmed but not included here, as well as any substantial information on any of the sets or special effects. I mean, they create an entire world here, I'd like to know a bit how they did it. But the movie is great and the DVD is suitable until the mega-deluxe 44 disc special edition comes out on some format we haven't even heard of yet.

This is a fantastic movie, I was skeptical at first about how the blu-ray would work with this movie, but it has done a wonderful job! Majestic shots, majic scenes, the level of detail in the pictures is eye-popping! Highly recommended!

I saw this movie before I started to read the books. It was so good I went out and started to read them and love the series so much Im sad there may never be another book. Check this out if you havent seen it yet

This is one of the greatest beginning to a movie series ever! You must buy this movie. Not just for the movie, but for the Special Features, too. Overall, amazing movie!

Who Doesn't Like Harry Potter. I Like All The Harry Potters Some More Then Others.

The first of two movies that Chris Columbus directed, this movie was a wonderful introduction into the magical world of Harry Potter. True, some scenes/characters were missing from the movie, but overall a solid start for the movie franchise.

I like this movie because it has a lot from the book. You should read the books and see the movies. It isn't a lot of money so go buy it!

This is the first in the series, and is still one of the best. This movie does a great job at developing the early stages of our hero.

This movie is one of the better HP films because it only had to cover a little over 300 pages. Special accolades for acting go to Richard Harris (Dumbledore), Alan Rickman (Snape), and Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter).

Why this would get a 5 star rating I'm not sure of. I give this a 3 star rating because it's a sad attempt at re-creating the magic from the books. It's a washed down version of the book and Columbus didn't do a great job...sure it was fun seeing this on the screen after you've read the books, but the integrity of the books have been ripped apart. This is by far one of the worst of the Harry Potter films, and as the series progressed they got better...more so after the Prisoner of Azkaban, when the directors began to blend style AND substance seamlessly.

Harry Potter has been a part of my childhood. Sorcerer's Stone was always my favorite as a kid.
