First sequels are the true test of an enduring movie franchise, and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets passes with flying colors. Expanding upon the lavish sets, special effects, and grand adventure of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Harry's second year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry involves a darker, more malevolent tale (parents with younger children beware), beginning with the petrified bodies of several Hogwarts students and magical clues leading Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), Ron (Rupert Grint), and Hermione (Emma Watson) to a 50-year-old mystery in the monster-laden Chamber of Secrets. House elves, squealing mandrakes, giant spiders, and venomous serpents populate this loyal adaptation (by Sorcerer's Stone director Chris Columbus and screenwriter Steve Kloves), and Kenneth Branagh delightfully tops the supreme supporting cast as the vainglorious charlatan Gilderoy Lockhart (be sure to view past the credits for a visual punchline at Lockhart's expense). At 161 minutes, the film suffers from lack of depth and uneven pacing, and John Williams' score mostly reprises established themes. The young, fast-growing cast offers ample compensation, however, as does the late Richard Harris in his final screen appearance as Professor Albus Dumbledore. Brimming with cleverness, wonderment, and big-budget splendor, Chamber honors the legacy of J.K. Rowling's novels.

awesome set, was glad to see that there were new documentaries with the ultimate sets of the Harry Potter franchise. The Blu-ray version looks and sounds great naturally, these movies seem to really benefit from the high Def. visual and audio of the format. was also glad to see that the original documentaries from the older DVD releases were on these ultimate sets, means i can save some room on my shelf by gettin rid of the old DVD's. if your a HP fan, and you already own the DVD's, you should go and get these to replace them, cause they are really nice sets to have and you get new material as well as the old. a very good purchase in my opinion, simply cant wait till all the others come out!!

    The Secrets of the Chamber

The second chapter in the series is my personal favorite of the films so far. It allows the world to be lived in while still being magical. Plus there's just one great sequence after another. Including a bonus scene at the end of the credits! The DVD itself is lacking in many substatial bonus features. There is no commentary or behind the scenes, thus giving one the impression that a more elaborate special edition will exist on some format some day (however, that is not what the box set this December brings). But the movie is great fun and the audio and video are very good too.

    Another solid HP movie

The second of the HP movies that Chris Columbus directed, and the last one with the late, great Richard Harris as Professor Dumbledore (I thought he had a certain gravitas that Michael Gambon did not possess in the subsequent movies). Once again, some scenes were sadly omitted from the movie; however my major nitpick about this film is it went too dark too quickly compared to the innocence of "Sorcerers Stone." While the setting was more tense and serious, my working knowledge of the book series made me wonder how dark the rest of the movies would be, given how serious this one was. Nonetheless, a solid sequel to director Columbus's first movie.

Another great movie in the Harry Potter series. So much fun and magic to these stories; it's amazing how vividly they brought the stores to life on screen! A must see!

Chris Columbus + JK Rowling = Great

This another of the better movies in the HP film series (because once again it only had to deal with 300 - 400 pages). The action intensifies from the first movie, and Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) matures as both the character and an actor. The various settings are absolutely as magical and beautiful as they ought to be.

The Ultimate Collector's edition definitely lives up to it's name. The art book and DVD extras, as well as the Making of Harry Potter documentary make this a must have for your Harry Potter Collection. Well worth it!

I really appreciated this 2nd HP movie due to the characters still seeming innocent. Also as this was still directed by Chris Columbus made this one of the 3 best of the HP movies.
