Works well
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this for the Sole purpose of moving out of the VCR age where you need a converter box to use a vcr to record, got it home, installed it, easy to use and set up a set time for recording! Recorded the desired show at what I can tell the time I set it for, was out at the time. Not bad file size, about 7.5 gigs for a little more than an hour recording.

it's not bad
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't use the bundled software that came with it, so I've had, for the most part, an acceptable experience with it. Interms of tuning, it works great with the analog system I'm currently hooked into. The software I use with it, recognizes it flawlessly and makes use of all of the devices features. However, like a lot of other customers, I've had nothing but problems with the remote. If I had to do it all over again, I would have opted for the PCI card, instead of the USB device, simply because the card is so much faster (have 3 of those in another machine), and the remote is more like a conventional remote control. In my opinion, this is a great little toy to get your feet wet in, but if you're going to get serious about designing and building your own pvr/dvr, use a more robust product.

Good value. Not easy to install though.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The card is a very good value. I run Window's 7 & the card provides very good picture quality. The only problem i had was installing it.. After struggling with the installation, I ended up going to Hauppauge's website to download the most current software. Once I did this, the card installed and worked right off the bat.

Works Good
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking for an inexpensive way to watch and record TV and I thought I'd give this a try. It's pretty amazing. We get some 30 channels over the air with a set of amplified rabbit ears. 9 of them are in HD. We also get clear QAM and analog cable signals, but it will only do one or the other at a time and when you switch you have to rescan. There was some difficulty in finding the clear QAM channels in Windows Media Center. They are apparently assigned virtual channel numbers by the cable company. The WinTV software that came with this product did find the these QAM channels, and it will show you their real channel number if you right click on the channel in the lineup. Then you can manually add the real channel number to Windows Media Center. Windows 7 64 also appears to have a problem with the analog signals when connected to a flat panel via HDMI and Windows Media Center is set to 1080p. This is resolved by switching back to 720p for analog channel surfing. It does fine on 1080p when using the antenna or on clear QAM. Sadly the remote never worked at all, so I got a wireless keyboard.

Unbelievably great!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was skeptical when I first found this product. I was trying to replace the capability I had of recording from my Uverse box through a DVD-RAM based DVR, to my computer(so I could edit and burn to a DVD-R). I wasn't looking forward to spending $200-300 for another DVD-RAM-based DVR, especially when they were all fair to poor ratings. I found this product, and it does everything I need! And it doesnt have the ridiculous (macrovision?) lockdown that was preventing me from recording some shows. This product is GREAT!

It just plain works!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was skeptical of a USB TV interface, but it works perfectly well. I never expected an included antenna and it works fine in my 2nd floor bedroom (I am within 5 miles of 3 broadcast towers). I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium and never needed the included installation disk. Be advised that the remote control will not work with Windows Media Center. I'm also a Linux geek and linux.org DOES have support for the digital tuner functionality!

Works Beautifully
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After reading some of the reviews I was somewhat prepared to bring this back to the store in case it did not work on my system. There was no need. It works better than I expected on my Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit system. I am using Media Center instead of the software that came with it, but the software worked well on a different computer. Although I have never been a fan of Windows Media Center, I really like the support it provides for the card. Most importantly, the picture looks great on my 1680x1080 monitor, especially HD channels. My computer is a Core Duo 2.66 GHz with 3GB RAM, my video card is a standard Dell 256MB integrated, and there is no chop or delay at all.

Great product - works great properly installed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love it! Very simple to use. I love the fact it is USB and does not require opening the computer to install. My only concern was in installing the software. I called the tech number and quickly found that my Verizon cable box required me to use the analog source setting and manually add channel 3 (some sets use 2). After that is was a breeze. It now works well and quite easily.

Worked great right out of the box
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was hesitant to buy this thing because of all the negative reviews from people who could not get it to work. I want to be able to watch and record Over-the-air (OTA) TV using an antenna. I have a not-so-great HP Elitebook laptop running Windows 7 Professional. I followed the directions in the box to get the device recognized by the computer, I installed the latest drivers from the Happauge website (just Google "Hauppauge 950Q manual" to find the page with lots of additional resources, instructions and drivers), went through a first-time configuration of Windows Media Center, and I was watching, pausing and recording TV shows. It's that easy.

Great product. Great Recording HD quality.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I use this device on my PC and my XBOX ONE. This specific model is compatible with the XBOX. Software works great and is easy to start recording. Software does look a little old in style, having a modern look would have been nice. On XBOX it works good also but does not work as a DVR. Guess Microsoft decided not to include a feature like that after all.

Everything but cable channels over 150
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works fine now (clear picture, reliable, records programmed shows etc) a year and 3/4 I have it. It gets a great picture with included antenna. It records very well in HD and integrates with windows 7 very well. Basically the only problem is cable providers use over a thousand stations while this tuner only goes up to 150. I suppose it works okay if you have a cable box tuner. For me it meant no HD (in the 700's section of the tuner dial) with basic cable. The reception, no HD, wasn't very good with the cable stations I did get too. Plus side is digital over the air transmitted TV has plenty of good HD programming. I guess they figure cable people all have cable boxes. Also you can hook up your VCR and likely record the movies, though I haven’t tried this so I don’t know if the anti record devices on many VCRs will foul these recordings up.

Works perfectly!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was surprised how well it worked on my PC under Windows 7. No skipping/studdering of video. Easy install with included DVD. Only missing item is guide. Maybe that will work with another software bundle. Right now using WIN TV 7. Running analog, digital, ASTC, QAM. World well. Easy set-up. Also, got it on sale for $69.99. Great Product!

Just what I was looking for
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a long drive and was going to miss a football game on TV one Sunday. I went and bought this, had it up and running in 20 minutes on my Windows 7 x64 bit system. It comes with software but I simply use Windows Media Center that is built into Windows. A bonus is that this comes with a remote control which works in Windows. Gets local Hi Def stations off of comcast which I can play on my pc or send to my plasma, no quality difference at all vs. the comcast box. However, be advised that other channels that require a Digital decoder to view off of cable are not usable without hooking that decoder box to the line before this Hauppauge unit. But for what I need this for (watching a major sporting event, or catching the news while I'm working or eating lunch at my PC) this is great. Have used it now for 2 months, still very pleased.

Works like a tv
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The picture is great but the only problem I have is identifying the channel that I am watching except in the case of local stations which have the channel ID as part of the picture.

Does not work with Windows 7
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was able to get it working on Windows 7 Beta. Now that I have upgraded to Windows 7 RC1, it will not work at all. Tried Hauppauge's newest drivers, newest WinTV 7 software. When it was working, it worked very well. I have worked in IT Support roles for 10 years, so I do understand how to get one of these working. I know...Windows 7 is still in beta and RC releases. But, there are other tuners that work fine in Windows 7. The newest drivers are dated in March, 2009 and do not work with Windows 7. These drivers should work. Also, The Media Center support page for Hauppauge lists Windows 7 as supported. It is not supported, as Media Center will not detect the USB device. I would recommend this if it worked.

Posted .The Hauppauge WinTV-950Q (model 1191) is supported by an inbox driver on Windows 7, and as such Microsoft does a considerable amount of testing as part of the Windows 7 release process. Hauppauge has the Windows 7 final RTM release and the 950Q is testing and functioning properly with Win7.

Over all it is everything I expected it to be.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Set-up and use were very simple and straightforward from my perspective. I am somewhat technically savvy so I may have an advantage in that over standard consumers. The reception is as good as my regular tv and the picture is sharp. I usually watch it through my Windows Media Player and have had no problems (using Windows 7).
