Great deal: blu-ray and digital copy of a classic movie

Heat is one of my all time favorites. Great deal for $7.

This movie is an instant CLASSIC!!! It was even much better the second time I saw it. Headed by the star studded cast of Robert Deniro and Al Pacino and surrounded by a top flight supporting cast. One of the finest action thriller movies of all time. The only scene that Pacino & Deniro are in alone gives this movie 5 stars. This movie should be the benchmark from which all other action thrillers are derived from.

If you call yourself a fan of action films and have not seen Heat you are doing yourself a disservice. This breathtaking film will captivate you for its entirety of the run time. Brilliant acting by Al Pacino and Robert De Niro, gorgeous cinematography by Dante Spinotti, and all other cast and crew members combine to create Michael Mann's masterpiece. This edition is the Director's Definitive edition, a personally supervised restoration by Michael Mann that includes a ton of bonus features. Spread over 2 Blu-ray discs there are hours of bonus features here to explore. Couple that with a digital HD copy of the film, all for under $10 makes this a superb buy.

The blu-ray comes with 2 discs - the movie and the special features and the special features are great because they go into detail of the guys who Neil McCauley (De Niro) and Vincent Hanna (Pacino) were. It has interviews of everyone in the film. Really in depth making of the film. It you want to know the background of the film and are interested in the director commentary this film has that too. The movie itself is great. The epic shootout at the end really is cool.

Man what a movie. From great actors giving great performances to the action sequences etc. This is not just a run of the mill typical hollywood movie. There is so much more to this movie that just heists and gun battles. Still, even to present day no other movie has ever shown a more realistic and up close gun battle in the middle of the streets in my opinion (and i've seen a lot of movies with gun battles). There can be some drawn out times in the movie, mostly when the "hero" cop is revealed to have plenty of at home issues with wife and kid. While necessary for his character, it can be dramatic and overdone. Otherwise, totally an awesome movie and worth watching. I recommend it.

This is a movie that has stood the test of time. It is almost 20 years old and is better than most of the stuff out today! Brilliantly researched film by the perfectionist director Michael Mann. Explosive roles by Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, and great supporting roles by Tom Sizemore, Val Kilmer, and Jon Voight. The small appearances of Natalie Portman, William Fitchner, and Xander Berkeley aren't heavy handed but also add character. The story of this crime saga is intricately woven, mixed in with tense action and incredible dialogue. Every time I watch this, I find something new about the story.

It's a classic heist film with several parallel subplots. While it's long, it gives the main characters greater purpose than the cat-and-mouse chase the main plot ultimately is. Pacino is a bit too hammy in his role, but De Niro kills it in what is one of his best non-Scorsese roles. If you're looking for an action movie, I recommend looking up the post-robbery shootout on YouTube. If you want one of the best of the crime/heist genre, I definitely recommend picking this up.

Great film by the solid director Michael Mann. He had personal oversight on the mastering of this version of the film. The visuals are even better than the standard Blu-ray, and the sound is much improved upon! He even added a couple of very short little scenes (more like shots) that weren't in the original Blu-ray. I would highly recommend this to anyone who can appreciate the instant classic heist film that set the standard for many that came and will come after it.

This HD Blu-ray of Heat is a replacement for my DVD version. It's a well paced thriller with an excellent script and involving characters. The up-tick in video and audio quality over the DVD version is not just noticeably improved but exemplary. The black levels are deeper/richer and the color palette is much more tuned to the mood of the film. The soundtrack carries good punch and impact.

This film is considered one of the best of all time, now while I don't feel that way this is still an excellent movie. It's held back for me because of its length which I understand was done to make it feel epic, but ultimately it more ended up feeling bloated. It was also held back from the movie not being all that original or incredibly interesting to me. But the incredibly polished sleek look of this film is stunning to look at, all the actors do a great job at keeping you engaged by constantly having things to do and keeping them busy. And most of all even though this film ends in a certain way, I was wrapped up in the story and characters enough to where I would've been satisfied if it had ended in multiple ways, including the way it did end, that's rare in movies. Overall, it's exciting scenes, polished look, and investing characters brought to life by solid acting, directing and writing make this a crime drama definitely worth watching, just make sure you either take an intermission halfway through, or find a way to spare three hours of your time.

Al Pacino, Robert DeNiro and Val Kilmer all in one movie. Pacino and DeNiro shine as two men on opposite ends of the law who respect each other. While they clash, they must also deal with personal matters affecting their own lives. A superb crime thriller that makes you relate to the main characters, both good and bad. Total recommend.

With Robert De Niro and Al Pacino heading an all-star cast, this is one outstandingly fine film. The action sequences are amazing. This is a true Hollywood masterpiece. Michael Mann's direction is impeccable, truly the best film of his directing career. A must see! On my top ten best film's list.
