This movie is such a classic. It’s almost as if it was made recently.

Great flick from way back. Looks great in 4k, also happy to have it in digital format too.

Excellent film with an even greater soundtrack I recommend

It's nice to have this in multiple formats instead of just an old VCR copy or DVD copy

When I was younger I enjoyed watching this animated movie however even though this movie was updated to 4K, the quality of the animation was just not to the level of current animated movies like Shrek or John Woo's Appleseed Ex Machina. The story lines also were not nearly as "deep" as the current best animated movies. For that I gave this 4K animated movie 3 stars

I've loved this movie since I was a teenager, but it's been plagued by poor quality transition to VHS, then DVD, then Blu-Ray... This seems to finally be a great version. I will also add... Though this is supposed to have the digital copy as well, mine did not have the card in the box. I did a little searching, and Sony has a note in their FAQ about missing digital cards. It states to send an email to them about it. So I sent one, not really expecting a response. Two days later, they replied and asked for a few details (pictures of the box inside and out, a picture of the discs themselves, and a copy of my receipt. I sent everything in on my lunch break, and by the time I got off work, they had already emailed me a replacement key. Super impressed with the customer service for that. It's so unusual to get something like this taken care of in under a week. All in all, great movie and great customer service from Sony. All together, I'll give it a 10!

I saw it way back on the big screen and have always I liked it. I like having it on video.

A fond movie from my childhood and basically one of my favorite movies of all time. Here it is on 4k and finally given the respect this movie deserves. Every time I watch it, It takes me back to those days when movies became part of who you were and stayed with you for the rest of your life. The 4k transfer really is a solid improvement over the original blu ray. It's so much more vivid and, the colors just pop. The audio. Here is where I was initially concerned. I had heard that there was a massive overhaul of the soundtrack and complete reimagining of the sound effects. but my fears were assuaged when I found out the original sound mix was still available on audio option settings. I tested it out and it's there in t's glorious original track. For those of you who are not purists check out the atmos track with the new sound effects. It's not bad. The audio is very strong and enjoyable for an alternate experience. Give it a whirl.

A animated cult classic but not for the whole family

Heavy Metal comes home to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray for the first time and the results are incredible. The film has never looked or sounded better thanks to a new Dolby Vision HDR transfer and an amazing Atmos audio track. Despite that missing Stevie Nicks tune, it’s still a beast of a track but you also get DTS-HD MA 5.1 and 2.0 tracks to rock out to. Sadly bonus features are light giving only one new very brief extra and recycling the 2011 disc for some pretty old bonus content.

I’ve owned this movie on many formats and can honestly say this is the best it’s ever looked and sounded. The colors are vibrant and there is more detail than ever before. The Dolby Atmos mix was well done, and it’s apparent that someone took a lot of time and care into this presentation.

I got this for cheap on Black Friday and I saw it once. Don't need to see it again. But definitely not a bad movie.

Honestly the best this movie has ever been and probably will be. From the days when you could only find this late night on HBO to bootleg tapes, and then finally the DVD releases I've seen this movie on so many formats but this 4K version is the best.

Perhaps its sort of a generational thing, so it might not be for everyone, but heavy metal is a great movie from the 80s. In 4k it looks better than ever before including my existing blu ray release.

Really good transfer here. GReat sci-fi fantasy trilogy here. Kind of bummed this release doesn't include Heavy metal 2000, but i believe they did a steelbook that included both.

This movie takes me back to 1981…boy those were the days. I remember being quite impressed as a 16yo boy. The music and animation are excellent..

I am amazed how vibrant color can be when hdr is applied to movies Cartoons look awesome. If you liked this movie im the past you will love this transfer
