Since 1981, I've owned this on VHS, Betamax, DVD and finally Blu-ray. Some of the best animated visuals tied to one of the greatest soundtracks ever. You will find yourself asking "Hey, do we have any of that Plutonian Nyborg left?"

First let me say this is NOT for kids, though it is animated this film has male and female nudity, copulation and a ton of violent images. That being said I loved it. Each story has humor, action, copulation and violence. Everything most adult men like in a film. Each story has great rock songs accompanying it. The sound track I also recommend.

I remembered this movie way back in the 80s during my high school days. The story is very good and the OST are my favorite.

Although the graphics are dated this is a classic animé with great stories and an excellent soundtrack. John Candy is funny in the segment Den and this movie was THE big US animé other than Wizards for a long time. Decent special features as well.

Great film at a great price!! A must for my collection. Definitely had to take advantage of online Black Friday shopping to avoid the chaos in the stores and no shipping cost are always nice. Got to love Best Buy this time of year

If you know what it is you dont need to read this review. But this was america first entry in this style of manga/anime it will always be a classic. I only got again just to have on blu-ray

This is as relevant today as when it was first released. It was groundbreaking when it was in the theaters and I found my teenage kids thought it was better than alot of the stuff released today. And the music is AWESOME!

I remember seeing an old South Park episode parodying this movie and it made me always interested in seeing it. I am a fan of adult animation so when I saw this sitting on a shelf at Best Buy for $8 I couldn't pass it up.

Brilliant Blu_ray for a forgotten classic. Very happy to finally see this Blu-ray for the 1981 animation "Heavy Metal". Beautiful transfer. A must buy

So happy to get this old school movie from my youth. The remastered classic is such a great compilation of animators, swirling among such classic music. Cheers

Always loved this movie since it was released and the Blu-ray version is outstanding. The soundtrack (which is one of the best parts of this movie) sounds great on this disc. The extras are nice if minimal.

Hadn't seen this movie in a long time. Okay, since the VHS tape died. Looking through the display at the store, saw this and thought I should watch it again. Classic Rock and this ain't no Saturday morning cartoon, kiddies!

Heavy Metal is another cult classic movie that is geared towards the animation crowd.Much like Akira, it has a certain quality to it that only a certain group will really understand. It has a plethora of voice talent, and a few little tidbits that are fun to notice as well as several various animation styles.

This was a unique movie to find in-store and the price was great for a new blu-ray.

I bought this mainly because I had seen it in the theater when it first came out, and I was a fan of the Heavy Metal magazine. The movie looks good, but keep in mind this is an old school animation style that shows its age compared to today's anime. Also, be aware that this movie is for adults, not kids, because of blood, gore, violence, sex and nudity. You will also hear some great songs from back in the day. You will also find some humor here as well as some seriousness. This movie also is composed of separate stories with different animation styles suited to the current story.

This is one of the best animated movies ever produced. This movie was produced during the 1980s when heavy metal music was becoming very popular. I would recommend who those people who were a part of that music genre.

Can’t go wrong with a Classic. Although cheesy and outdated, the music is put together in the movie in an appropriate way.

I have been a fan of this movie for many years. This Blu-ray version is well done especially considering that the source material is from the early 1980s. the special features and commentary are enlightening.
